1. I've seen the Skylark stuff before apparently they are quite nice, though I'm amazed they've got away with some of the guitars they sell as they are direct rip offs
2. Price drop bumpery
3. Thanks a lot for the info
4.
it goes down to 2ohms
So I could run this into a 4X10 at 4 ohms a side?
5. Sorry but I'm not the most technically minded does this amp output to 4 ohm cabs?
6. Get the singer you auditioned back in, get another guitar player (if needs be), hey presto brand new band with no fannies!
7.
Somewhere between frets 6 and 9 on the G (on pretty much every Stingray I've ever played), somewhere around fret 4 on the E if you're really unlucky. Often they're not really noticable until you plug in an effect that relies on sustain to do its job (octavers, harmonisers, envelope following effects too to some extent) and then suddenly they're the most annoying things in the universe.
I'll have a look man, granted I haven't used many effects for a few years (though I just bought some), but I've had my 4 string fretted for over 20 years and it's been plugged into every possible combination noise making device imaginable and I've never noticed it, I might be deaf but maybe I'm just fortunate to have a got a good one (or three hopefully)!
8.
dead spots on the neck in the typical Stingray places let it down.
I have a 3 band eq model, my bass of choice for noodling at the moment it's really lovely to play. Out of interest where are the typical dead spots, I have a few rays and never really noticed (which is not unusual for me), but I'll nip home and scrutinise them this evening!
9.
It's not as if you're being recruited by a Sun Ra tribute band.
That would be awesome!
10. I have to say (showing my ignorance here) I didn't even know what a single cut was until I read this thread! They aren't for me my tastes are much to traditional but it's understandable that instrument makers want to try and come up with innovative ideas and designs, personally I like the same tired old bass guitar type shapes (the musicman is nice).
11. I think the red one looks very cool, I do find the buttons a bit off putting but I think on the whole it looks great.
12. PMed dunno if you still have the strings I'll have them if you do.
13. A friend of mine has a peerless semi acoustic guitar and it's lovely instrument
14.
I guess it depends on the current output from the Boss PSU. If it is in the region of 300mA or more, I reckon you are fine!
Bought a Johnny Shredfeak PSU just in case, much cheapness if it doesn't do the job I haven't spent too much cash.
15. Bought the unpowered Gator tote gigboard from a bloke locally, can I take it that I can daisy chain a TU2, A Boss limiter, a boss Chorus, An MXR Octaver and MXR M80 from a boss power supply or do I need something with multiple outputs? Cheers Stevie
16. It's a toss up between the Warwick gig board, thing and the Gator tote I think, warwick looks a bit smaller but is powered.
17. I looked at those spider cases they look cool and very cheap
18.
If you want it cheap then DIY is the way to go! For 5 pedals I would imagine it wouldn't cost more than £10-15!
Hi Jack I looked at the Gorm thread on talkbass, I thought the orange one the bloke made was dynamite, however, I think mine would look sh*t cos I'm completely hopeless at any sort of DIY.
19. I have three stingrays two 3-bands and a 2-band. I've had the 2-band for centuries and I think it's an amazing bass, very versatile, dunno if it's just been wrecked over the years but I can get a very warm mellow tone as well as the more characteristic aggressive vibe.
20. Swapped my ME50B for an mxr m-80 of Simon's, absolutely no problems great guy, recommended!
21. Cheers Chris thanks mate those gator pedal bags look very reasonable....
22. Alright folks I've just got rid on my multi effects and have a bought a few pedals. I don't envisage more than 5 pedals (tuner:limiter:chorus:octave:preamp/distortion), any cheapish pedal board recommendations that would suit this sort of thing. Do I need a powered board or can I daisy-chain from a boss power supply? Thanks in advance Stevie
23. Man that's a cool looking thing but I'm just never gonna play a six string bass mate, so I'd just be adding to my cupboard woes!
