1. Man that looks like a lovely bass how much are you looking for out of interest?
2. Just bought a couple of sets of the D'Addario Preludes £62 each from stringmail
3. Cheers I need a half size set as well for my wee bass as the missus is going to start playing again, might just just buy em and be damned!
4. Lol yeah me too but it was a bargain
5.
Apparently the easiest and most effective modification is to remove the bridge, cut a piece of bicycle inner tube to the size of the channel the pickup lies in and lay it underneath the pickup so it lies between the pickup and the bass body. It takes away a lot of the brightness and brittleness of the Palatino's sound.
Yeah the bloke did that you know its quite a nice looking thing really...
6.
Gear4music do cheap strings for about £20, i'l be sticking some on my stagg next week so I'll let you know how I get on with them
Great cheers I don't want any mods to start costing too much....
7. I know I saw it I was just too lazy to read it
8. Hi Folks picked up a very cheap palatino EUB, which I'm basically gonna use for wee jams in my lunch hour in work.... First impressions are: It's a bit sh*t, it sounds very thin, the action is high, it doesn't sound like an upright, however, it's perfect for what I need it for and it was very cheap. In saying that I wouldn't mind making some improvements, the caveat being I don't want to spend too much money, I know there are loads of mods and improvements : Can anyone recommend cheap strings (would they make it a bit beefier)? Can anyone recommend a cheap bridge (could I fit it would it sort the action) Any other cheap upgrades appreciated! Cheers Stevie
9. I bought two double basses and a cello in the Barras market in Glasgow for £75 all in, the basses are both sorted and are great, cost a bit more to fix em up but a proper bargain. I recently bought an Ashdown LG 1000 for £269 which was ridiculously cheap and it sounds pretty cool to me I've owned and used loads of amps and cabs I wouldn't say it particularly lacked quality, the wee guy in his pants on the front looks a bit sh*t mind you
10.
I don't think you can go wrong with a GK MB150. Available second-hand on eBay for 300-350, hold their value, are small enough to take anywhere on the bus with an EUB, and you'll never need an upgrade.
I have a PJB bass briefcase which is great for the upright dunno about an EUB though.
11. Just bought the Flite cab off Pete an absolutely splendid guy I felt a wee bit guilty getting the cab for such a bargain price!
12. Just purchased my Ashdown Little Giant 1000, £300 from reverb with an extra 10% off for Easter so £269 for 1000 watts of smallness, even with the sh*t buttons that is a bargain! Here it is with my new cab (Cheers Pete)!
13. Well just went in and tried the LH1000 the good points are the price, the size not tiny but small and it sounds great for the money, in the 30 mins I was messing about I was really impressed by the versatility and quality of sound. The bad points are it looks a bit sh*tey, just the layout is a bit crazy and the posing pouch bloke, buttons are way cheap one actually fell off but is cheap, worst of all though was the tone shaping option which unless you were looking for the sound of a stylophone wasn't happening.... turns out the amp was broken. However in saying that I still think I'm going to buy one because you just can't beat that price for a back up or a small form factor amp.
14. Cheers Dave that's great info, obviously they won't be the quality of a markbass or anything but seems like a very cheap lightweight option.
15. Right a quick question thinking of getting the lg1000 would it be fine to run both channels into two seperate 300watt 4ohmcabs and risk overdriving the cabs. Or is there a way of daisy chaining the cabs and only using one channel at 500 watts.
16. Anyone tried these I have the briefcase which is an amazing little amp, but looking for something with a bit more welly really for playing with the upright... Any thoughts would be appreciated..

20. I just bought it I'll probably learn one of the lines in forty or fifty years
21.
My copy of Ray Browns 'bass methods' arrived today, seems a really useful book, covers many scales.
I was looking at this is the book, is it just standard notation no bass tab for the less gifted??
22. Hey cheers for this it's awesome....
