1.
The mixer would suffice as a DI but you may suffer from your standard soundcard. I would suggest buying a decent firewire or USB audio interface. Some of them even have pre-amps with phantom power so you'd only need the one box.
Cheers Cheddatom I probably didn't explain myself to well I have an m-audio fastback which is basic but fine I could plug the mic straight into that and record the bass acoustically, but wondered if there would be anything to gain from running the mic through a preamp, the only one I have being on the briefcase. This might be a sh*t idea mind you!
 2. Anyone got any experience of home recording an upright? I just purchased a se 2200a mic and can get my hands on some small condensers. I'm thinking of going into a laptop if I was using a desk I'd have peamps but I'll be DIing into the computer. Could I use my pjb briefcase (which has a bass buddy preamp and DI out) as a preamp and plug the mics into a wee mixer, then into the briefcase, and finally into the laptop or is that a really dumb idea!
 3.
Any chance of a pic. I've never seen a half size before. Be interesting to see what it looks like.
There you go here are a couple of pics, the bad quality one shows the Selmer in relation to my 3/4 Boosey & Hawkes. 4. I have a double bass labeled as Selmer, I reckon they imported basses and badged them as Selmer, the one I have is Czech made it's a half size and is really quite beautiful.

 12. Hi Folks I've just bought a K&K Dual-channel Pro Preamp I'm intending to use it with my wing pickup and a fingerboard clicky for rockabilly/country slap but wondered if I could plug a mic in instead of the clicky for a different sound? So the upshot being are there any cheap clipon mics around I could mess around with .... we are talking BUDGET here
 13. I could find out and get back to you, I've posted a couple of basses in the past and it wasn't to bad..
How much would postage be?
14. Gotta apologise this is the 20 watt amp not the 35 as previously quoted so I've dropped the price accordingly I only used a few times and it sat in the cupboard and I forgot about it, I just assumed it was the 35. sorry!
 15. Hi Just clearing out some stuff got a great little Orange Crush practice amp wondering if anyone was interested £50 plus postage I have the box somewhere too. This is not the actual amp but I'll send pics if anyone is interested. Would trade but really looking for a double bass preamp. Also got a sansamp BDDI hardly used again I'm ideally looking for a double bass preamp, fishman pro platinum or a K&K but will take cash ... say £100 Sansamp sold! This is not the actual sanamp but I'll send pics if anyone is interested. Cheers Stevie
