1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhFLtOIhhCw This is very cool
2. I have a Czech made Boosey and Hawkes from the 60s I think and use a K&K bass max pick up with the the K&K pre and the fingerboard clicky at the moment. I have a PJB bass briefcase really as a monitor and a preamp into the house PA. I just ordered a SE-2200A from ebay, which hasn't arrived but thats more for recording hoping to blend it with another mic. I'd like to try a few other things the fishman pro plat and the LR Baggs come to mind
3. I have the K&K bass max and the clicky with the dual preamp for blending the sounds, just got it last week and I have to say I'm digging it. Had to get it shipped over from Gollihur music site so it was a bit pricey but it sounds cool. Bloke seems to be selling one on ebay It was a toss up between that and a fishman pro platinum but I just couldn't seem to get one of them for the right price, if anyone is selling one I'm still interested! How are the silver slaps by the way? I have steels on my bass at the minute but was really interested in those strings.
4. The briefcase is very cool I've used for smallish gigs and as a monitor for larger venues and taken a Di into the desk I really like it, I'm going to try for the suitcase though as I worry about cranking it to be honest but for quiet gigs its plenty loud. Perfect for acoustic.
5.
I used these 2 to record the second Red Jackson album
Hey Teej that's awesome man the tracks on the website sound absolutely brilliant...
6.
The mixer would suffice as a DI but you may suffer from your standard soundcard. I would suggest buying a decent firewire or USB audio interface. Some of them even have pre-amps with phantom power so you'd only need the one box.
Cheers Cheddatom I probably didn't explain myself to well I have an m-audio fastback which is basic but fine I could plug the mic straight into that and record the bass acoustically, but wondered if there would be anything to gain from running the mic through a preamp, the only one I have being on the briefcase. This might be a sh*t idea mind you!
7. Anyone got any experience of home recording an upright? I just purchased a se 2200a mic and can get my hands on some small condensers. I'm thinking of going into a laptop if I was using a desk I'd have peamps but I'll be DIing into the computer. Could I use my pjb briefcase (which has a bass buddy preamp and DI out) as a preamp and plug the mics into a wee mixer, then into the briefcase, and finally into the laptop or is that a really dumb idea!
8.
Any chance of a pic. I've never seen a half size before. Be interesting to see what it looks like.
There you go here are a couple of pics, the bad quality one shows the Selmer in relation to my 3/4 Boosey & Hawkes.
9. I have a double bass labeled as Selmer, I reckon they imported basses and badged them as Selmer, the one I have is Czech made it's a half size and is really quite beautiful.
10. Hi Folks I know bows are pricey and all but can anyone recommend a decent budget bow for a beginner?
11. Sorry about the delay, get you some info tomorrow .
I'm still interested in this. Have you got a price yet?
12. This is really cool man I'd love one of these, I have the briefcase and its great for the upright... I'd have to have serious will power not to buy this if you were local!
13. And another pm
14. Ha ha 'purplenecks' nice one
15. Recorded on a videophone not bad quality though a bit quiet but cool for our second gig! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxfj8ZR5hyo
16. It's in great nick, I have a gig tomorrow but will try and nip down and get a price for you in the morning.
17. Hi Folks I've just bought a K&K Dual-channel Pro Preamp I'm intending to use it with my wing pickup and a fingerboard clicky for rockabilly/country slap but wondered if I could plug a mic in instead of the clicky for a different sound? So the upshot being are there any cheap clipon mics around I could mess around with .... we are talking BUDGET here
18. I could find out and get back to you, I've posted a couple of basses in the past and it wasn't to bad..
How much would postage be?
19. Gotta apologise this is the 20 watt amp not the 35 as previously quoted so I've dropped the price accordingly I only used a few times and it sat in the cupboard and I forgot about it, I just assumed it was the 35. sorry!
20. Hi Just clearing out some stuff got a great little Orange Crush practice amp wondering if anyone was interested £50 plus postage I have the box somewhere too. This is not the actual amp but I'll send pics if anyone is interested. Would trade but really looking for a double bass preamp. Also got a sansamp BDDI hardly used again I'm ideally looking for a double bass preamp, fishman pro platinum or a K&K but will take cash ... say £100 Sansamp sold! This is not the actual sanamp but I'll send pics if anyone is interested. Cheers Stevie
