  1. When I first arrived in Toronto I thought Pete Traynor's amps were aimed at beginners as in Trainer.! LOL The Yorkville plant is just up Kingston Road from my house. They make good reliable equipment. When the Pandemic is done with I'm hoping to get a tour of the plant.
  2. Run the pre-amp as you normally do but use the power Amp faders to lower volume to an acceptable level.
  3. Just loading in a different driver is not going to make it suitable for bass. The cabinet has to be designed around the driver used.
  4. This cabinet seems to be aimed at guitar players not bass players. If it's loaded with Vin30s it won't handle much bass.
  5. VOX, Jennings Musical Instruments, were authorised to use the Beatles name. The companies that bought VOX were disappointed when the right to use the Beatles name didn't come along with the purchase.
  6. I think you'll find it's called a Super Beetle bass.
  7. For me if I want to mute my signal I just pull the guitar cable out of the amp's input jack a little bit.
  8. Just 'cos they're working doesn't mean they're going to keep doing so if you have the connections wrong.
  9. No problem handling B9A pre-amp tubes with your fingers, They don't get hot enough for the oils on your fingers to make a difference. Even output tubes won't be bothered either. They are not like headlamp bulbs.
  10. Digital multimeters are really cheap and any serious electric musician should own one or more.
  11. Bill, what's the use of clouding the issue with facts? LOL
  12. We likes to give good advice we does! LOL
  13. What you may not know is that the brand 'Acoustic' was purchased by the Guitar Centre chain of music stores. Since the purchase the brand has been made in China and bears little in common with the ACC of old.
  14. If your cabinets are 8Ω then you should connect two as the amp has a 4Ω output.
  15. My worst experience in bass amplification was a 50W Blackface blonde Bassman with it's 2x12 cabinet in the late Sixties. It looked wonderful on stage but sounded like a pile o' crap. I had to use it for the two gigs that weekend in Liverpool and then returned the amp to Dawsons in Runcorn. Unfortunately they had sold my trade in so I just left the amp there. I still get nightmares about the damn thing!!
  16. As someone who worked on several Nuclear power stations I found the stickers somewhat amusing! LOL
  17. I. have an old Heathkit tester which I use for quick go/no go checks. I also have a Hickok tube tester that gets very little use.
  18. It's called a tube tester. There are modern testers available for a limited range of tube types such as those pre-amp tubes used in MI amplifiers.
  19. Pre-amp tubes should last decades as they don't do much work - lazy buggers!!! LOL
  20. I don't have a clue who Alan Partridge is so it went over my head bones!!
  21. Was this aimed at my post?
  22. You'd better eat your Wheaties before you try lifting that beast!!
  23. 'Stereo' doesn't work too well for bass. I tried the idea in the early Eighties with a JBL K145 + a pair of JBL K120s on each side of the stage. It worked well, or so I thought, from the stage. Out in the room not so much with cancellations in different areas. Don't try changing the drivers in the jBL cabinets as they are designed to use the driver that's installed. Anything else would be a downgrade no matter how good the driver might be.
