  1. How about a little short scale action? Perfect for picking up for a quick play.
  2. That’s some score! At that money, you could use it a chassis for some very nice electronic upgrades (Nordy Big Singles or Spilits spring to mind, plus preamp of you choice) and still have a bit of a bargain.
  3. I think that might have been used on the Roscoe Beck signature.
  4. No, quite the reverse in fact. Both the split coil in this Jake and the original MM type in my Elwood (swapped out for a more refined Delano) are very punchy indeed, both passive.
  5. Up for sale is my Maruszczyk Jake L in Fiesta Red (very Pino). I bought this new in mid April of last year. It has been gigged a few times and, apart from the usual swirls, is in great condition. Sounds just like you'd expect a P Bass to sound. Jake L (Precision type) chambered alder body. 34" Scale maple neck, katalox fretboard with MOP dots. 19mm bridge spacing, 40mm nut width. Standard Maruszczyk split coil pickup, passive circuit. Tort, 3 ply pickguard. Weighs 7lbs 3ozs (3.3kg ish). Hardware is standard Maruszczyk fitment. Maruszczyk gig bag. Currently fitted with Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats.
  6. Get that neck off, it’ll be a major faff otherwise.
  7. Yeah, dead easy. I then did around 3 separate coats of Danish oil, knocking it back with fine wire wool each time. Came out super smooth.
  8. I did mine with Nitromors, finished off with a light sanding, followed by fine wire wool.
  9. Now listening to No Way Out by Peter Gabriel. Danny Thompson and Tony Levin together , so good.
  10. I’ve turned the clock back 34 years (where did they go?) and luxuriating in the wonderful fretless work of Bakithi Kumalo on Graceland. Paul Simon may be a bit painful as a person, but man he can write a tune, enunciate better anyone whilst singing (IMO) and pick great musicians.
  11. Dunc just bought my Korg Pitchblack. Super fast payment, top quality communications. Thoroughly recommended.
  12. Nice score. I was playing one of these on Tuesday, fantastic basses; want!
  13. I don’t mind a roadworn bass, but please leave the belt sander alone. I owned a very beaten up ‘63 P Bass and it didn’t have that wear mark on the upper bout. It’s the same with the JMJ Mustang I played on Tuesday, same belt sander in a place that neither the sales assistant or I had ever experienced with genuine playing wear. YMMV of course. However, back on topic, they’re ok, pretty much Flea basses in other colours.
  14. And it's done and dusted. Mods, do your thing please.
  15. Not a turn off for me as such, but man alive did they drop the ball with that afterthought. Talk about spoil the ship for ha'p'orth of tar.
  16. Looks like that awful logo is still in place, unless the photos are library shots.
  17. The B string on that Streamline is rather good. EDIT: correct model name added, thanks @Deedee
