  1. Having moved out of my old house 6 months ago and the majority of my belongings going into storage, I have finally been reunited with all of my stuff (way too much stuff it seems, not the bass stuff you understand ). Anyway, I cleaned the fretboard of my new JMJ Mustang with my never ending supply of lemon oil and the ‘board now looks lovely. I also restrung with a spare set of old EB cobalt flats (long scale); it sounds so good. The bodies on my other basses now seem big and cumbersome by comparison to the Mustang and just don’t have the same tonal gravitas. The JMJ is looking more and more like a keeper.
  2. Wrapped Around Your Finger - The Police
  3. Depends which bass. My newest one would be this,
  4. An old friend of mine who was fond of a beer, used a rather appropriate collective noun - A Belly of Bass Players.
  5. Washing in the Water - Peter Gabriel
  6. Dirty Cash - The Adventures of Stevie V
  7. No, they’d just be Kidding.
  8. White Man In The Palais - The Clash
  9. The pickup in the JMJ is a bit special and you can’t buy as an upgrade from Seymour Duncan (yet). Also, the build quality on the JMJ is very good indeed, coupled with quality hardware. My only complaint with mine is that the relic dings are often too uniform and start to form a pattern (nails on a roller type of thing). But that’s only when you start looking up close. Other than that, I’m very, very impressed with mine, even the nitro finish on the neck seems to have been dried correctly (something my old RoadWorn P fell short on) and doesn’t stick to my hand after playing for a while (I have a history of this with nitro including, Gibson and PRS). I can’t comment on the Performer as I haven’t played one. I have played the Vintera version, which was rather good and the Performer should be an upgrade from that (you’d hope).
  10. Eyes Waterfalling - Level 42
  11. Nice one, Phil. I will definitely check it out. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Flightcase + PB300 here. I’ve previously owned a Cub and a Bass Buddy. Yeah, I’m a fanboy.
  13. Thank heavens I’ve moved. That is only a leisurely 45 minute drive from the former Ez Towers. I reckon there’s a few grand to be added just yet.
  14. Iron Man - Sabbath.
  15. Brontosaurus - The Move
  16. Suck My Kiss - RHCP
  17. Sharp Dressed Man - ZZ Top
  18. Prices for new Gibsons and US EBMMs seems to be ridiculous these days. It is reported that new guitar sales are an an all time high, so I’m not sure folk are selling off in massive numbers. With that in mind, I’d say it’s probably not the best time. I could be talking out of my rear end of course.
  19. Take It Off The Top - The Dixie Dregs
  20. Shout At The Devil - Motley Crüe
  21. Good call @Jean-Luc Pickguard.
  22. Hold The Line - Toto
  23. We’re just moving into a new house. It’s not a dream house as such, but we like it and, despite wanting to downsize, it’s bigger than our last house. Lady Ez will have a room for her office and I’ll have a full sized room for my music (in the last house, it was a very small box room). Whilst I’ll have the vast majority of my musical stuff in ‘my’ room, I want to have a guitar and maybe a bass in one of the living rooms. In an ideal world, I’ll finally get a DB/EUB and that will certainly live downstairs in one of the living rooms (Lady Ez does like the idea of them as a piece of furniture, so it’ll need to be a proper DB or an EUB with one of those small bodies).
  24. No, that’s a feat of heroism.
  25. Although it seems counter intuitive, being busier during solos works. Check out Jack Bruce during Crossroads or Tommy Shannon during Shotgun Blues (IIRC). There’s also the tritone/chord option. Martin Turner does some some full on, Quo type boogie on Blindeye.
