  5. A preamp pedal may give you access to some eq frequencies not covered by your amps eq section. It may also buffer your signal, preserving our signal through long cables if you use a passive bass. Some have a DI out (thus potentially bi-passing your amp altogether). Some can add some drive if required. I use 2 on my board, a Sadowsky SBP2, which adds a certain something that my amp certainly can’t do (it also helped alleviate my Sadowsky bass GAS) and a VTDI which can add drive if I want and gives me a DI if the amp falls over (I actually bought it originally for its midrange boost frequency with a particular bass that my amp didn’t cover as much as I wanted).

  14. A very nice selection you have there. However, it’s this Sandberg that does it for me. This is actually a bit weird as, up until quite recently, I found them a bit meh. Now done a complete 180° and I think they’re the best J type shape out there and I’m having to rein my potential GAS in, hard. BTW, how big is your Orange rig? 😱🤣
  15. Standing in the Road - Blackfoot Sue (hmm, I getting a feeling of deja vu here 😁).

    1985

I can think of albums that I bought in ‘85, but the one that I bought and was also released in that fine year was, Welcome To The Real World - Mr Mister. Born In The USA was technically an ‘84 album IIRC, but I certainly didn’t acquire it until ‘85. It was the album that turned me around on Bruce Springsteen (I was rather on the fence up until then, my girlfriend at the time was a huge fan). His gig at Wembley in ‘85 still rates in my top 5 gigs ever.
  17. I think you meant Standing in the Road - Blackfoot Sue
  18. Ooh, Wilcock Mullarkey for the win IMO, but certainly a premium product. Mmm 🤤 https://thebassgallery.com/collections/bass/products/wilcock-the-mullarkey-short-scale Other options if you wanted go up market are:- Maruszczyk do short scale versions of their Jake and Elwood (P&J) models, or you could go down the Sandberg Lionel route, both makes are around the £1300 IIRC.
  19. Simply The Best - T Turner
  20. It seems you have an in house fix already. However, I think I possibly see your dilemma. Then again, maybe I don’t. Is the answer 42? Do I need to get out more (that’s a hard yes)?
  21. Pop and jazz too. And flamenco. Ooh, country too.
  22. Plenty of folk here with whistling ears, myself included.
  23. A youngster in our midst, that’ll bring the average age down a bit 🤣.
  24. Lots of info available here, just ask, they don’t bite (well not too hard anyway 😉).
