3. I would recommend an Ampeg SVT 3pro: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ampeg-SVT-3-Pro-450-...p3286.m14.l1318 valve front end with mosfet output. superb, better than the 450h and s/h units are very affordable! andy
4. final final bump...
5. up for trades? andy
6.
Unfortunately the sound in the shop is no guide to the sound when gigged. I had been using an EBS Neo 212 with an HD350 for the last few years and it was well capable of drowning out an unmic'ed drummer on its own. And if the drum's get Mic'ed then the bass normally gets DI'd and the rig becomes stage monitoring. At the risk of being controversial the stack is as much about image as sound.
very true! check all the music stuff on tv at the moment - most bass rigs I see are ampeg classic/vr/v4b and 8x10. It is a good looking rig! andy
7. Ian, stick with your own perception of sound. I agree fully with your sentiment because at the end of the day your ears are your ambassadors and will guide you appropriately! its your choice and what you are looking for...no-one else needs be involved unless...they have constructive, shall we say criticism? which could enhance your current set-up. I do believe though; When building a cab, technically speaking, calculation for acoustics, audio values, speaker properties and dimension are important but for the most part, our ears are not capable of hearing all the corresponding frequencies which come out of our selected boxes, whether these be 'boutique' or standard gear. So many folk on all the various forums have bought gear they believe to be the biggest and best yet have parted with it so fast it makes you wonder?! who makes the best amps? who makes the best cabs? who makes the best basses? who makes the best effects? who makes the best leads? who cares! we have a lot of fun trying it all out! My gear is just a workmanlike set-up - just does it, that's all and that's all I require. buying gear is very personal to the player and the type of sound/music style they are trying to achieve. I my 28 years of playing I will admit to having umpteen nonsense basses, dodgy amps and cab combination's, but they all got me through various stages in my career and development regretting none of it while simply enjoying bass. I love going to live gigs, observing who uses what and what they do to squeeze the best out of what they have. Ampeg rules!! lol. andy
8. final bump - may consider trades. andy

11. well, here we go again, gas got the better of me! selling my untouched and unloved Ibanez AGB200 - I bought it to fit in with some band material and gigs but as this is no longer happening and it sits untouched on a wall in my music room at home...I've decided to put it up for sale! £200 delivered it comes in an Ibanez box with guarantee and all accompanying hex keys and manuals. link: http://ibanez.com/hollow/guitar.aspx?m=AGB200 cheers andy
12. these are great! link: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=144 bit thin on the ground but you can pick them up for around £100 new and s/h - you already like the ashdown tone; this gives loads!

17. change your price! I know someone - on this forum - who sold one recently for £200... andy
18. my heart beats to the pulse of classic rock and some of the metal atuff, korn, system of a down etc.. aargh its a temporary situation and you really need to face those demons! I'm in an original band at the moment that is very in the vein of this rubbish indie rock feckin nonsense and I'm bored! My first son as born eight years ago. I have been out of playing forseven of those years and my playing is sh*t...but it is now getting back to where it was ten years ago and I know yearn to be back playing in y original 80's rock band.... andy
19.
Lets put it this way....Ive started to sell off my gear.
Why??
20. hey andy have a bump on me - terrific bass and worht the dough! andy
21. Are you really that bothered? I cannot be arsed with rude, non communicative, hey dude hows it hanging man nonsense any longer! maybe its age? maybe you are inwardly looking for that different thing but have not admitted it to yourself yet?? I always believe in be who you are and do what you do while sticking the fingers up to the man!! andy
22. hi s5s, these good chatters have given you great advice: pup height active and eq battery fret buzz maybe you should return it to the shop? the folks there can check it out and advise you thereon. best to do this now so you don't mess up your warranty and, if you end up in a consumer conflict, you will have a time line started as evidence. andy
23. I'm totally biased! I love the tone my svt 3pro puts out. An all tube svt II is worth considerably more than a svt 3 pro. (s/h) I have just sold my old svt 3, was hard but needed some cash! superb sounding and preferred it to my brand new 3 pro after re-tubing it. good luck andy
24. mimimalism is definitely the way to go. In process of cutting the rig back - sold the b115e and the svt 3 pro about to sell my little crate amp, the basses will be difficult... I do indeed own a house but find the missus more draining in terms of money! Ironside, hope you are feeling much fitter and well now. My father (rip) was dogged by heart attacks and strokes, not a nice place to be and a fear of mine as I get older. His first attack was in his mid 40's. The closer I get to this age the more worried I become... andy
