  1. To Bombay a travelling circus came...
  2. I think Warwick grew out of Framus; Framus was originally by the father and then the son set up Warwick. EDIT: Doh! should've read the entire thread before posting...
  3. The one thing about disco is Stayin' Alive is apparently the right beat for if you need to do CPR.
  4. Thanks very much - PM'd. The body had 2 bushings and was missing two. Yes, I checked them on the Warwick site, but the postage is £10, which is more than the items and the budget is tight on rebuilding an RB...
  5. I've got a Warwick RB 5-string bass body and neck for a project... My first task is to find some screws to attach them together. Now, Warwick do sell them, but the postage is more than the parts and I really need to keep to a sensible budget since it's an RB. Any ideas where to get Warwick parts in the UK?
  6. Not as dodgey as this one... https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/red-fender-guitar/1328144052
  7. I guess the gist of the thread is that everybody thought there should be more in each programme about the particular items they are interested in. If the programme makers are watching this, they must be thinking there's a few series worth of material to cover!
  8. I thought it picked out the effects (amp, recording, pedals) which really shifted the guitar from being an amplified acoustic which could be heard to a much more versatile instrument. Punk and grunge were really just short-lived fads, which were of their time but came and went much like flower power, glam rock, disco, and boy bands.
  9. New phone, just getting to grips with the camera.
  10. They've got piles.
  11. It's a bargain at 3200 Euros!
  12. It's a precision instrument, just not in the style of a Fender Precision bass...
  13. I found Uli Roth quite witty too. I also warmed to KT Tunstall more than previously; I had really disliked her stuff before. It was fun recognising the Denmark Street settings, as i wander along there probably once a week or so. As with all of the series, you can't cram the entire history of music and every guitar into a 1-hour show, but that wasn't an issue for me and I enjoyed it.
  14. Me no understand! 😕
  15. Well, that is a bit of a puzzle, that bridge!
  16. And the police too?
  17. Either way is fine.
  18. There are Rickenbackers and then the rest are rubbish.
  19. I watched the drum one last night; it started with Cozy Powell and featured a Rickenbacker on the wall. Sheila E was rather good.
  20. Out of courtesy, I won't be bidding.
  21. (Ah - I have to say I only turned on part-way through...
  22. I never saw a Ric there, but I still enjoyed it.
  23. There was a clip of her playing the Moog Rogue too.
  24. Well, it was titled "On Bass", not "On Bass Guitar" and the presenter herself used bass synths. I have to say that when I saw the title I (mis)read it as "Drums'n'Bass" anyway, so wasn't surprised at the direction it took. I think it is pretty much impossible to do a show and cover all of the styles, mention all of the greats in every viewers top-ten, make sure you've listed everyone's favourite model of instrument. I think the recent drumming mini-series was excellent, but even that was subjective and quite superficial in parts. For me, I think of Tina Weymouth as the awful playing of Psycho Killer on the OGWT, but some of the stuff on that programme has perhaps made me re-think. The most amusing/ironic thing about the show for me was the ignorance and arrogance of the punks thinking they'd invented something musically, eg. playing lead bass on a Ric copy, whereas really all they did was put safety pins in their clothes and sugar in their hair (and I remember using safety pins to hold on my school blazer top pocket before punk came along).
