I tried Rosetti. I'm afraid I have to agree with first post - thought they were terrible. Did have a dead E-string, which wasn't really a problem to me. But, they did seem really harsh, ripped my fingers to shreds. Binned them & gave away the second set I had. Only really change my strings once a year (at the most) anyway, & even then usually just clean them in alcohol for a bit of a 're-life', & to remove any gunk I can. At the moment, I favour quite a [i]played-in[/i] tone, especially when recording. Used Elites for as long as I can remember.

Definitely a tuner (if you don't use a rack one), & a versatile/tweakable 'bass friendly' fuzz that you like the sound of.

He used a Ibanez Rickenfaker for much of his time in Magazine, as opposed to Simonon, as you say using a topend WAL, only at producer Sandy Pearlman's insistence. Some say output levels are a bit low, but I found the same with Sansamp. Having said that, it works fine for me - I like to combine it with mic'd sound. From the replies, I gather not too many people keen on the Wooly Mammoth(?) It's not cheap to buy, though I reckon I can at least build it for less than a tenner. Guess I'll find out myself....
