  1. it's music not maths, no need to be that precise. Use your FEEL, the audience will appreciate it
  2. plain black or brown tort I tort I saw a meow meow cat.......realy? we can't say p u s s y cat?
  3. THIS If your drummer needs a metronome to keep time, find a real drummer If YOU have to keep time for the drummer, find a real drummer it's as simple as that, really.
  4. I saw them in Adelaide around then, is it on CD or a youtube clip ?
  5. The Who, Live at Fillmore East April 6 1968 this is the original bootleg it's about to be released as a 3 CD set
  6. wait, what? my suggestion actually worked? I mean, oh yeah, I knew it would
  7. hmmm, sack the drummer and the guitarists and everyone else Marry the girl with the pub not that you'd regret NOT doing this , 11 years later.......:)
  8. I have heaps of pedals and boards, dunno why, I hardly ever use them lol If I'm cabbing it to a gig with backline, a gigbag with my polytune will do me.or the polytune clipon. For gigs where I'm taking the rig, I'll use a board with Polytune, MXR M87 Compressor and my G30 wireless. Not that I move much, but I like to hear the soundcheck whilst walking the room to make sure it's sounding good. If going into the PA I'll add one of my preamp DIs, the M80 or Ampeg SCR DI or PBDDI. Or just my Radial J48 DI. too many choices, fart oo many
  9. OK I'm gonna test it out tomorrow and report back. Now I think about it,the only reason I stopped using this one was coz the mic lead going to my mixer popped when touched. Turned out that mic lead had a slightly smaller connector that wobbled in the MXR's socket
  10. I'm pretty sure the EQ controls don't work when the OD is on. What you do is, with OD off, engage the colour switch and boost the mids. THEN when you engage the OD, the mids are there.I'm 99.9% sure this is the way to do it Anyone else?
  11. my old band had a foolproof ending for any song where we had missed the usual ending. We'd just keep going til the singer sang "one two three four, when I say no more, STOP" I still play with him and we often use it just for old times sake hehe, awright, when we miss the proper ending.
  12. congrats on the promotion Si and thanks for all your valuable advice, as always

    MONITORS.

OK easily solved Yes use the two monitor outs from the 2i2 Depends on what inputs are on that tower speaker. If it has 2 RCA inputs, you just need two mono 1/4 inch to RCA cables (or a stereo cable) If it has just a 3.5mm stereo jack, a cable with two 1/4" one end and a 3.5mm plug at the other end like this https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CMP-303-inch-Interconnect-Cable/dp/B000068O3G
  14. like the 'news' feed headlines "OMG you've been playing Monopoly wrong all your life" coz the 'author' has only just discovered the rule where if you land on an unowned property and don't buy it, it goes to AUCTION. Umm yeah, I knew this in the 1960s, when I.....READ......THE......RULES. fair enough that you didn't read the rules and were ignorant all your life. BUT , DON'T tell me that I have been playing it wrong all my life! Don't judge me by your stupidity
  15. Am I right to assume this tester does not plug in to a wall outlet, you just plug your DC supply into it then into your pedal?
  16. how should I know? I have 4 and can't decide on the ONE. MXR M80+ don't like the scooped mids T21 BDDI - don't like the scooped mids..... Ampeg SCR DI - the best, good tone options, OD not great, but useable for the old cab breaking up sound B7K - way overpriced, no option to just use the EQ section without the OD unless you dial it down, then manually turn it up when needed....kinda defeats the purpose of a pedal doncha think DG? serious flaw in it's design to not have a seperate footswitch for OD. The Ampeg wins, for now, but seriously Ampeg, did you have to make the pedal the fridge of pedals, TOO big and bulky. Bass Fly Rig for rehearsals and may replace ALL of the others
  17. I have the Peterson StroboClip, cost $150. Piece of crap, hard to read, actually, VERY hard to read. Polytune Polyclip, the BEST tuner by far. Around $90? well worth it. So quick and accurate, and by far the easiest to see even in daylight
  18. thanks for sharing, I never bothered to look it up. As it happens the 1 2 4 technique is what came naturally all those decades ago when I started this journey I use 1 2 3 4 if needed, usually for fast chromatic lines
  19. I think I've mentioned this before in a previous thread, proof that I didn't make it up I guess hehe Probably around 1982 a mate tells me his mates are reforming their punk band just for a big party they were hosting in a month's time, they even wrote a set's worth of originals, with titles like Burn Bradford Burn (it was just after the disaster,so I was uncomfortable with this, but hey, it's punk, right?). Anyway we go through their set, ok not very good, but it's punk, right? So the next week, I am THE ONLY ONE who learnt the songs properly......it's THEIR SONGS. So I pull out of the gig. My mate rings me as the band reached out to him. "Please play the gig" Me "no way never ever,I have too much pride in my performance to play with them" "it's just a party, wear a bag so no one recognises you" I never saw those guys again, their name? Too Sick To Sing lol and they were !
  20. to elaborate, my dear bandmate had passed away ten years before, I didn't pretend that he died, sorry for the confusion
  21. I've used XL165s since 1979 and have loved them Recently put Roto RB45s on my SX Jazz and they have more mid punch than the D'Adds, I really like em, not sure of longevity yet A few months ago I put Chromes on my MIM Jazz and liked the sound so put the med gauge Chromes on my MIA P as well. Not sure if I like flats or rounds more now, stuck on the fence. I've heard a lot of players record with flats for less finger noise but use rounds live. Makes sense. I'm leaning towards this so have one P with flats, one with rounds and the same with my two jazz basses. THAT'S why we need at least 4 basses
  22. if your fingers are supple enough for one finger per fret then it would be the most efficient method. But if you have small hands, or arthritis, you just have to move the three fingers you use a bit faster Django Reinardt only had 2 fingers? on his fretting hand and we all know his name 60? years later
  23. genius idea. My bandmate's wife wisened up after about 30 years when she counted 60 guitars and basses lol I onced claimed my new Takamine ABG was my dearly departed bandmate's and his widow wanted me to have it. How can anyone complain under such tragic circumstances? I have no pride, I'm a bass player PS just to clarify, I'm referring to two different bandmates above
  24. use good ear plugs people. I have them, now, about, no, exactly 40 years too late
