  1. The idea of a bitsa is growing on me. Where do you get your bits from though?
  2. I think it’s just the silver reminds me of a hifi amp! Black also looks cool.
  3. Silver? With wooden end cheeks? Damn, now I want one of those!
  4. There was a Tobias Toby Pro 4 string thru neck that fit me like a glove for about £500 that I couldn’t afford in a now- closed guitar shop in Swansea. Honestly, it felt like an extension of my body it was so good. That was maybe 1997 or so. Never found another that felt like that. Damnit!
  5. Woof! Get your tech to take it out of the box though, I know it’s for practical reasons but it’d look cooler naked!
  6. I think you’ll love the combo @machinehead! I have my second gig with the BF duo tonight and I can’t wait! I’ll be in Unit 19, Little Wind Street in Swansea at 7.30 if any bass chatters are local to me.
  7. Looking good Kev! But she-itt that’s an expensive head!! I’m guessing you have other cabs too, as that’s quite a lot of wattage there for the One10?
  8. Refused is basically you had insurance, put in a claim and they said no way. Like fraud, or doing something stupid. Not being quoted for is them not wanting to get involved in the first place. You’d need business class, and make sure your gear is insured separately, as often contents cover on motor policies is a pitiful token gesture.
  9. Just had a quick jam with my son, thought I ‘d stick some close up shots of the cab for your judgment. I really like the brown piping!
  10. Just got in from my gig - bloody great! Two of these babies is exactly right for me with these new bands - one was audible, two absolutely own the bottom end of the spectrum! The amp volume was set to about 2 o’clock, so could have given more, but it was not required. I need to get another cajon bag for the second cab, should then be able to fit cab and head in one, and cab and leads/stand/tuner in the other. If I can just get a 2 bass gig bag to sling over my back I’ll be living the one-trip-to-the-car dream.
  11. Wouldn’t a DI be outputting mic level? That’s a lot less than line level, which is probably what the PA speakers want to see, hence being a bit quiet.
  12. Cheers Kev. I had asked about doing a Two10 in tweed the week before, and spotted the website link was live Friday night, so think I might have been first on the list! Two of them are bloody loud for such tiny boxes - think i’m set now! Gig tomorrow night with the noisy lot, but they don’t stand a chance of drowning me out now... mooohaahaaahaaaa!!!!!!
  13. It’s here! Only had time to pull it out the box, play enough to get yelled at by the mrs, then back to work...
  14. That is lovely! I think my next purchase might have to be one like that.
  15. Good man! Ready early next week they say - super excited!
  16. A well known comedian from a popular news show once asked me to go score for him. I was not in the appropriate position to oblige. Played bass in the school band with the son of a famous 60’s act. Paul from Morcheeba made a stupid low offer on a valve mic I was selling on eBay.
  17. I think the black with cloth will look booming with this sitting on top. I quite like mismatched but matched cabs!
  18. I had been thinking about it since I saw the one off they did a while back. Alex mentioned it to me Friday so I hastily spent some money I don’t have! Broke the news to Mrs today - she took it really well to be fair!!!
  19. That’s an odd one that. The type face looks old, but the headstock shape and bridge look newer. I’d hazard a guess at mid 80’s. The only experience I had with a Hohner bass was a boat anchor of a P about 22 years ago. That had the Fender type headstock shape though.
  20. Is it a bass, or has someone just been sick in the bag?
  21. Thanks for the explanation! Interesting approach. In one of my first bands 20 yrs ago I often just went straight in to the PA from my Zoom multiFX without an amp of my own. Just seemed easier! With in-ears and really good PAs (slowly) becoming the norm maybe amps/cabs/combos will be gone in 20 yrs?
