Is it possible to get EZ Drummer to sound great on a recording?
MoonBassAlpha replied to PatrickJ's topic in Recording
Parallel compression with fairly aggressive distortion and compression mixed with your original drum mix can add fatness and excitement . I'm sure I read something on here ages ago by @Dad3353 about something that subtly adjusts drum hit levels to make it sound more human. -
Super early. I think mine's 67 from memory

I like the contours on the Fallout, kinda wish the pj Mustang had that too... -
Lovely! That's a nice wood selection. Does your one have a serial number?

I like small bodied basses. The Hohner Jack bass had a very comfy small body, like a sleeker strat. My main 2 basses for the last 12 years were U.S. Masters ep42s, very small body, 24 frets with full access right to the top. Sei Flamboyant is small too

Is that the Zippo one? I've heard it's a little lighter 😉 -

I love Jabbas designs, what scale is this one? -
Same bass 4 vs 5 string tone difference

I don't think it's the type of wood, just the amount of it in this instance -
Fairy nuff!

Sounds like a dry joint around the processing (dsp?) chip. Something is going open circuit as it warms up. Freezer spray is handy for diagnosis of this sort of thing. A microscope I handy too, but you need to know what to look out for regarding solder joint quality on surface mounted components.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't you make the fingerboard continuous past the nut, in one piece? Were you limited by the board blank length?

I'm pretty sure it's the thicker neck. Fewer frequencies being absorbed at random points. If you've played a metal necked instrument, for instance, you notice a very wide presence of frequencies. -
A pedal or amp with a sweepable notch filter is extremely effective at killing feedback. You still have to take care damping the strings to keep the whole thing under control though

I don't remember vat being added a year ago. Also, I thought the flats were from their new supplier, but could be wrong there. I thought I read something that hinted hinted they were now supplied by Piccato, but have no evidence 😀 -

They're available again, I ordered the flats and half rounds this time last year. I put the half rounds on first and haven't even tried the flats yet! The half rounds are interesting, like flats with a little more bite, but the feel is almost indistinguishable from flats. I might try them on fretless, I think they would be great. -
I think if we knew how much we didn't know about this sort of thing we would be overwhelmed, and end up not starting at all!

Glad to have helped. They may not all be the same, but my Mustang PJ had it too, just about mitigated by the lightweight Gotoh tuners I swapped in. -

I borrowed one for a bit, sounded good but had THE worst neck dive. -
Our cover (Charms Against the Evil Eye) of the Jazz Butcher song Southern Mark Smith, recorded live with acoustic guitar overdubs only, 2nd take. Leader Pat Fish was a good friend and mentor to our singer. He sadly passed in November this year (2021) and will be greatly missed by many.

I've got one about ready. It's going to be Southern Mark Smith by the Jazz Butcher, whose main man Pat Fish passed earlier this year. He was a good friend and mentor to our singer. We'll be doing it tonight at our first gig in nearly 2 years at Oxford Bullingdon tonight. Watch this space .
