Nice woodwork BTW. I like it, though it looks like it must weigh a lot. Just taming the bottom horn a bit might look OK, but the control cavity would then need attention. You could bring it to the body edge like Crimson guitars do.

I'd like to rinse some ideas through the hive washing machine that is the build diary massive (err, I think I mean you regulars) I'm a small fellow and my concept is a small bodied short scale 24 fret bass with good upper fret access. My main novel (?) concept is to have the bridge as near the body edge as possible, anchoring the strings on the underside and gently curving round the body (possibly in shallow grooves?) The 2 benefits, as I see them are getting the bridge piece as far South as possible and if the geometry is correct, being able to use the far greater choice of long-scale strings. I welcome your thoughts, and hope I've got the idea across 😀

I've got the black bridge off my Mustang bass if you're interested, if you aren't already sorted. It's just the standard bbot Fender fare, or are you going for something nicer. Almost unused. -

I was wondering why "sonic" blue? I can't think what the origin might be, but I'm sure someone on here knows 😉 -
Thanks for the input folks. I got to play his bass yesterday and was blown away how well it played with no setup. I would have further fettled it to my taste, but he has a lot heavier touch than me. It was a flying visit, so I didn't get the chance to remove the scratchplate though 😞

That looks excellent, what wood is the fretboard? -
Nose grease, aka squalene. Some people produce more than others though...

Out of interest, would it be usable without a plate, or do they have ugly routing holes/trenches?
-
@theyellowcar thanks for the info, I wonder if that's still the case? How long ago are we talking, roughly?

Hi All My mate has just got a sunburst fretless, has anyone changed the scratchplate on theirs? We both agree that tort would look better than the white it comes with. Is a generic jazz plate likely to fit? Cheers

ReaTune in Reaper does a pretty good job, just tweaking the attack time to help it sound natural works well for me so far. My singer generally isn't too far off, so I guess that helps for a lack of artifacts.
