1. I'm on all the time. I really need to cut down! :-)
2. Nice call Keith. These are a great string, small and easy to play. Arco is fantastic. :-)
3. I don't get it. They ruin a basses balance and I doubt anyone can hear a difference in tone. I think they will date really quickly, remember 80's headless basses? :-) actually I've played 2 fodera singlecuts which looked/played and sounded as good as any other bass I've tried. Just leave it to fodera though, please ;-)
4. Keith is a great bassist who really looks after his gear. If I had the cash I would go for this! Good luck with the sale mate :-) cheers geoff
5. Do it! BTW jakes pics and advice are great.
6. I've enjoyed the thread guys. Double bass is worth the hassle and with lessons from a good teacher anyone, anysize can play in comfort. I've also loved the way it has let me play in a wider range of genres. The extra gigs pay for the expense!
7. I would go for the acoustic 5 strings though :-)
8. I love rob allens basses. Worth the cash as the quality is first class. Really original designs too.
9.
Good, I tried this stack once (use to own 2 cxl112's) and they are stunning and you were just giving them away
+1
10. History in the making. Epic thread! :-)
11. Sounds like an amazing product. Can't wait to see one
12. Nice collection :-)
13. Gerry, your mtd is AMAZING! :-) wow
14. Great music. Not really listened to much before but think I should :-)
15.
Bassace has an Upton Professor, although he's near Oxford I believe so a bit of a trek from Manc-ie. You might want to have a chat with him. I hope to meet up with him one day and take a look at it myself. I'm also keen to see what you find and what you end up with, will watch with interest
I've already been in touch with bassace and ended up ringing him for a chat. Great guy and really helpful. When I'm a bit less busy I intend to pop in for a visit. Cheers Geoff
16. Cheers for your advice chris :-)
17. Hi jerome, thanks for the heads up. I like your site, let me know if you get anything subitable in stock. It's a shame you are not nearer. The uptons look great, as do the new standards and wan bernadels but I really want to try before I buy. I know there are loads of great reviews of all these basses but it's too much of a gamble for me. I actually found someone with a used upton in London but it has an Eb neck which I always have trouble with. I guess I could use a false nut etc to change it but i really want a bass that is set up ready to go. I'm still intrested in Martyn Baileys and Paul bryants basses but need to go and spend some time playing them.
18. Great bag, great buy!
19. Hey CB, thanks for the review. I really liked the solo model I tried about a year ago and it had amazing projection. I was in some ways almost louder than the orch models, but of course less 'bassey'. I'm still not sure if the swell back orch models might be to big for me, but he also has an amazing 5 string which was suprisingly easy to play.
20. Just checked with Martyn Bailey and he has no connections with Sandarac.
21. I'm not aware of any conection. I've visited Martyns workshop a few times and would be suprised if he's involved. However I've never played any sandac basses so couldn't comment on them at all. If you need more info on Martyn check out his site and the pics of his work. He was also really fair about prices and gave exact quotes BEFORE he started the work. You would be suprised about how many luthiers suck their teeth etc when quoting for a job :-)
