1. Absolutely Fabulous !!!!!!!!!!
2. Shafts are usually solid and round, or split down the middle and splined. The idea of the split and splined is they accept push on knobs that dont need grub screws, and the split allows a bit of leeway with the fit. But like they said if you use grub screws to the side of the split then you will push the two halfs of the shaft together and possibly the screw will go too far and fall out. If you put the screw in the split you will push the two halfs of the shaft apart for a tighter fit. That all sounds disgusting
3. I would not do it personally. You could spend a lot of money but will still have a cheap bass (assuming it is a cheap bass). Ibanez gear is pretty good straight anyway so you could actually de-value the instrument. Put the money towards buying a new bass with black hardware. But then again I am having my Spitfire blacked up
4. I have compiled a list of lightweight amps but it is over on finnbass.
5. I didn't need to google - thats a Guild 302. I can also remember playing a new one. Seriously under-rated made in USA basses. And google did not give an instand answer
6. Most cab makers are still stuck with making cabs for a 19 inch rack to sit on top of. I have stuck some info in the wiki about lightweight cabs; and during my exile even more on finnbass. Fact not opinion.
7. Somebody buy this FFS !
8. It would sound even better with a shuttle 6.0. Its about the only thing me and Kiwi agree on !
9. My bad. I think they all use EBS though. Or maybe i'm just talking bollocks. Am I allowed to say I am talking bollocks?
10.
very nice and understated, BTW it was good to see the GB Rumour beat the rest by a country mile in the latest BGMag 5 string shoot out, as if there was any doubt anyway!
Not a surprise. Dave Marks and Stuart Clayton have GB's as well These guys must play a lot of basses and probably get offered lots of basses, and they buy GB's. Got to say something.
Just for the sake of having something to look at, looking thru the pics I have, it's quite eye-opening how the colouring and quilts change in different light. 11. Genz Benz. Tecamp. EA. Markbass R500 even. There are lots of other superlight options, LMII is not the only amp. Even amps like the EBS HD350 only weigh 20 lbs.
12. Lots of people imagine there will be a big difference in volume between a 350 watt amp and a 650 watt amp. There wont. The relationship between volume and power is exponential and to double the volume you need 10 times the watts. But you are still better off with more watts as it will give a little bit more volume but also headroom so the amp will respond better to the dynamics of your playing. The TD650 also has a tube and is just that little bit better; the switches are bigger and have lights so you can see what you have got on. Manys the time when I knocked the tone defeat on my HD350 and wondered why it didn't seem to make any difference when I fiddled about
13. You have to make sure the stand has engaged when you put the centre stand up - otherwise it could collapse. As long as you remember to do that they are great.
14. There is a whole load of info on the basschat wiki. The reason some makers have 4 ohm cabs is usually that they also have 2 ohm amps. Most makers of 4 ohm amps do 8 ohm cabs. The general idea the makers have is you buy their amps and cabs, not you buy their amp and use somebody elses cabs or vice versa.
15.
And here is the progress, its still rough sawn, but i think its gonna be stunning!! the thru neck is almost there, Bernie has used Ebony for the splices, as well as the fret board , a lovely jet black, this is a first for a GB !!
Whats a first - the ebony splices?
only a matter of weeks now, i'm gonna get led's , not decided on colour yet, and i'm going to try some single coil p/ups, which can be changed if i don't get on with them. James.
Black LED's I recon
16. He is very good with the website and also is prepared to take lots of photos and that is ideal for a forum. Some builders are just good at building basses.
17. Am seriously thinking of all blacking my black Spitfire.
18.
I just tried the 1000 in Dawsons (ahem) and I was really impressed! Great full tone (MM Jazz) plenty of scope for different sounds with the simple setup. I want one. How would it work with my Epifani 310?? Anyone looking for an Aguilar AG500SC???
You cannot be serious ??????????
19. You did not like the Spitfire then? Like I said in the PM, Bernie did not invest in custom pups and active to sound like a Jazz. If you want a GB that sounds like a Jazz, Bernie will happily build you one. I wanted a P: Note: Other luthiers will be equally happy to do the same
20. Or you could get a bass that tells you when the batteries are getting low
21. Cool stuff. Richard Bona seems to be universally admired. How about a ban on slapping? We all know that most bass players are doing Mustang Slally on a saturday night

23. Hope it turns up faster than the Little Giant heads!
