  1. Not sure if you've still got this, but happy to take it off your hands if you do!
  2. good to hear this, was looking at getting a bass set up by them, hadn't had a chance to go in and have a chat yet
  3. @Grimalkinthanks for those, will look into them. That palm thing is going to keep me occupied for hours at work! @Happy Jackthe thought has crossed my mind, and I'll almost certainly pick something up. I'm also finally trying to learn how to make noises on the computer. This is just to keep the bass going as much as I can really.
  4. So, I've broken my arm. Left arm, at the elbow meaning surgery and a cast from wrist to armpit. Obviously playing has become impossible so I figure it's a good time to work on the stuff I can in the meantime, especially as I'm about to have an awful lot more free time. Are there any specific drills/practices people recommend for developing/improving right hand technique? I play a mixture of fingers and pick and shamefully don't really have anything specific I do to practice, just tend to work on songs or noodle. There's plenty on YT obviously but I often find there's so much that a bit of the old option paralysis sets in... Any recs gratefully received.
  5. I really like these, especially the baritone. nice to see something different
  6. I know it's not the point of this thread but the VI with the bridge cover looks fantastic.
  7. Took a long two and a half years of being in separate countries, COVID, not being able to find a drummer etc, but we finally played a gig on Friday. Lovely local pub, played an hour and a bit of our own stuff to an enthusiastic crowd, free drinks and even got paid. Nothing better.
  8. I just signed up for tidal last night (ended my paid Spotify a while back because I find the app incredibly buggy), currently £1 for three months or something daft.
  9. Been too worried to do my nice bass in case of a balls-up, but am in the process of rebuilding my old Aria in order to get a bit more confidence. It's only wood right, what can go wrong.
  10. I know it's not a new model but there's something about that shell pink VI...
  11. Superb thread this. Can't really compete with anything here but the story that always gets wheeled out is from an open mic, was the first time me and my singer/guitarist mate had played in front of people just the two of us. I'd invited a girl who I was seeing to come watch us, who worked just up the road. Me and the singer had been drinking all night to psyche ourselves up (on a Tuesday night no less) and by the time we went up we were past the point of no return. We played with a drummer who just happened to be there, we were both out of tune and out of time and I decided to spend the whole set staring directly at him. By the time we'd done our three songs (I think we were playing Oasis covers too!) we'd basically cleared the room of everyone. It was a formative moment, we're still playing together now! Relationship didn't last much longer though.
  12. Faultless transaction, good communication throughout, pedals exactly as described, packaged really well. Cheers Paul, pleasure.
  13. Bought a DI box, shipped and arrived unbelievably fast, best packaging job I've ever seen too. Top man.
  14. Seems studiospares aren't selling these anymore which is irritating as I'd planned to pick one up. Does anyone know of anything of a comparable price? Everything similar seems to be vastly more expensive.
  15. Ha that looks like good fun, tempted to have a go. Assuming the strings are at lower tension so no neck issues?
  16. Parachutes and Rush of Blood are perfectly fine records. Have to say not a lot since has appealed much but people seem to like them.
  17. Breaking two strings is impressive. I've broken one in my entire life when I dropped a bass and decided to catch it by the G string.
  18. Wow thanks everyone, lots to go through here. Completely agree with the comments about better playing and tone on my part, something I'm working on. I'm quite glad there's not a pedal based answer to be honest - I'll have a look at a couple of the suggestions as maybe a way of adding some spice as mentioned upthread though. I had been thinking of this as either an always-on or quite a mild shift in sound rather than a huge jump to fill a gap which I didn't explain very well in the original post! cheers all
  19. Hi all. Complete newcomer to pedals looking for some advice. Basically, I play in a three piece, bass/drums/guitar. I want to be able to do something to fill a bit of the space left by the guitar to enable our guitarist to play the occasional lead part. Is there a type of pedal(s) people would recommend for this sort of thing? not necessarily after specific recommendations, although they're also welcome, but more how you would go about effectively covering some of the rhythm guitar sound with the bass. My initial thoughts based on a bit of looking around was maybe a chorus and an octave? I'm imagining there could be multiple ways to do this so interested to hear what people think. Cheers!

  21. Good to hear it's not just us. We've had ads on Gumtree, JMB, various Facebook pages. Had a few (maybe about six or seven) enquiries but they all seem to disappear after a message or two. Admittedly we're in a different part of the country but right by a reasonably large musical hub, guess they're all busy.
  22. Really nice guy and an absolute pleasure to deal with, item exactly as described. Offered to meet halfway for pickup and even brought a battery amp so I could check everything over. Big recommend.
  23. Friend of mine has that Goldtone. I've played it a couple of times, found the strings very sticky. It seemed well built, sounds good acoustic but you're not going to hear it above much else.
  24. A bit of a long shot this but hey. We're looking for a drummer to join our indie/rock originals band with the aim of starting to gig as soon as possible. Band is a three piece (including the drummer), continuation of a band we got going out in New Zealand, we've got a bunch of our own songs. Can send audio/video of examples. We're both 30/31 so probably looking for someone of a similar age (±5years), neither of us are virtuoso musicians. Need own gear, transport preferable but not a deal breaker. Cheers
