  1. (This is mad, but I recently got this back from Brian after selling it, but I’ve been offered a 60s jazz at a price I can’t refuse so this is up for sale for the same price as Brian. I’ll pick it and send it using his lovely packaging!) £850. This is (as far as I can tell) 100% original, including the brass plate at the top and the inscribed back plate. The condition is, for a late 70s bass, very good indeed, but obviously not mint. You can see there is some buckle rash to the back, some slight chips to the front and a few scrapes to the back. That's the bad stuff out of the way, now the good stuff... This thing sounds immense! It's a full bodied 80s beast. I can only liken it to a Wal in terms of feel, sound and weight. You can coax a huge amount of sounds out of this and, if you want to stick some super-bright strings on, would slap like a beast I'm sure. You can see the condition of the hardware is excellent, with little to no discolouration or damage. The bridge, tuners and everything else are great, and function well. I've tried to picture it, but if you can't see, the frets have huge amount of life in them. Finally, it comes with the original Ibanez branded case too which is in fair shape. It's usable, but I wouldn't tour the world with it, let's put it that way.

  3. hi, I’m so sorry not to have updated this. It does have a new home!
  4. Absolutely! You’ll need to do some serious fettling with it, but it’s your. Pm me your address.
  5. I needed some ebony for a project and I bought some from China. I’ve used a tiny bit of it, but don’t need it anymore. It’s a proper specialist item so just thought I’d see if anyone here needed it for a DB project? I should explain it’s about the size of a packet of rolos. This isn’t a slab of ebony for a fingerboard, for example.

  8. I bought this recently, and I’ve got no need for it. It’s an older Realist pickup. Works well, sounds great and cheap as chips. £65 including postage.
  9. What a wonderful memory to have of your father.
  10. 1966 candy apple red jazz bass. Took about 4 years to save for. I haven’t played it in about 2 years but it’ll never be sold. It is and will always be the best bass guitar ever.
  11. There’s a 65 on Andy Baxter too that’s been around a while. May be worth an offer…
  12. Lovely genuine USMartin at a Mexico price. this mahogany guitar is crisp, clear and really lovely. It’s recently been set up, cleaned and it’s ready to play. Comes in a genuine fitted Martin hard case too. Small amount of play wear but generally a beauty! I’ve got too many acoustic guitars and something f has to give, so this is it. On eBay for £1000, yours for less.
  13. Guitars are simple things really, but I’ve realised it’s all about patience (I have none!). I recently did some work on a DB and it took hours of constantly reviewing, checking and working until it worked out. It did, but I could have earned more money doing my job than attempting to save a few quid by taking it to a pro. Nowadays I have an exceptional luthier who’s a friend so I’m happy to pay him to sort all my guitars (6 strings) and I’ve only got two basses and I can manage those…
  14. Is that Julian Assange playing guitar? I used to sit down when I needed to read music, and stand for everything else.
  15. I've bought a couple of things from Bass Direct (an AER combo and an 80s Yamaha bass) and I've had fantastic service both occasions. The one thing I've noticed is that they seem to do the terrible thing of not creating new listing pages, but simply deleting the content and replacing it. this is why there are often errors (and maybe upset people). I guess it saves time.
  16. We got an end pin built by a local metal worker for my old Ormston Burns Bass a few years back. Cost about £20 and was beautifully engineered and built, far better than the cheap rubbish most manufacturers sell you.
  17. The AER amps are better than EA amps for guitar and DB. The quality and clarity is above any EA amp I’ve owned.
  18. Can you message me about the musical charity? I’ve got a box of guitar books, stands, leads, studio phones and so on that could be useful to someone.
  19. Here’s a picture of the connection.
  20. I’ve checked back, and I bought a Pearl BC-930 Series Cymbal Boom Stand. I needed some foam insert (which I cut myself) to clasp the connector to the boom stand securely. You can see the feet really widely spaced out in the pic, but I found it was perfectly stable with a much smaller footprint because the stand was super heavy. I needed a new stand as the NS one was broken, and this worked well. I’d suggest finding a stand second hand. I was lucky enough to get one of those cheap (£40 brand new) but they’re about double that now.
  21. When I had an NXT k swapped the cheapo stand for a drum stand which was far sturdier and heavier which meant the legs didn’t need to be spread as widely, and I consequently had more room around the bass. It’s an easy mod that costs about £50
