  1. I’ve got two parallel power supply cables. One is a proper Boss one, the other a generic one. Both working, and for sale. £10 including delivery?
  2. The necks are huge on old P basses. I struggled (and I play DB too)
  3. I’ve just put a wanted ad out for one!

  5. That was my first bass and it was absolutely bloody brilliant.
  6. A beautiful bass that looks like an incredibly faithful relic. Also, your flat/house looks exquisitely decorated and I’m very jealous.
  7. Depending on where you live, I’d also suggest somewhere like Vintage and rare in Bath. The guys who buy expensive vintage guitars are pretty much the same audience…
  8. Totally agree on the grey area. My parents have been isolating, and had agreed to visit us. To ensure they’re safety we cancelled all social stuff and basically stayed at home for a week and tested each day to ensure we were as safe as possible. Is it 100% risk free? No, but nothing is. We did what we could and I’m happy with that.
  9. Those people have chosen to attend, it’s their free decision and unless you’re wilfully doing something reckless (like doing the gig while you’re positive or should be isolating) I really can’t see how you’re in any way to blame for what happens to others.
  10. The Omicron variant may pose more of a risk (or less, depending on the science) but Covid was always going to be circulating and gigs a risk, so I can’t see how the decision has changed much from when you accepted the gig. The prevailing political view seems to be that life can continue as close to normal as it can. Again, you either trust the Government or not (this isn’t the place for that discussion). You have no moral duty to those people in the crowd, but you do to your family and friends. Personally, I’d do all I can to limit contact at the gig, follow the rules and just get on with it. And try and enjoy it if you can!
  11. Anyone interested in what I personally consider the best value 5 out there? The damages is genuinely minimal and I’ll even chuck in a gig bag if you need one…
  12. haha, that’s what I meant! https://reverb.com/uk/news/the-mystery-of-fender-selmer-refin-guitars-solved
  13. Well, the tale is that they were respected when they landed here as I understood it.
  14. Wonder if they disturbed the solder when they did the resorts, thereby reducing the originality and the magic dust the poorly paid factory workers sprayed on between 1960 and 64
  15. So the point here is that: - Most funk bass players in the U.K. didn’t play Fender basses. - The scene as we know it now was emerging, and the narrative imposed on history doesn’t always resonate with someone who was there at the time (see the 60s etc.) - At the time Mark King wasn’t considered a funk pioneer, but this label has been applied retrospectively - There was a small group of U.K. funk bassists clustered around London and Denmark Street that pioneered the genre This is all good stuff. Personally, the fusion stuff here and the white socks, shirt strap Acid Jazz stuff that emerged from it leaves me utterly cold, but I’m sure the scene was a lot of fun.
  16. I’ve started playing acoustic guitar properly (lessons, books etc) and I’ve really enjoyed Eric Clapton Unplugged. This is so far from the sort of stuff I’ll normally listen to, but he can craft a song brag fella.
  17. I don’t know what any of this means.
  18. Can I just say I buy and sell as many guitars as Andy and I’ve never really made a profit on them, but I have played and owned some lovely basses and met some lovely people. I’ve finally managed to offload them all and keep a core few that I genuinely love. As hobbies go, it’s not a bad one to have, is it?
  19. Great advice. Thanks for all your help, very much appreciated.
  20. Thanks for your expertise John, I really appreciate it. When I’ve applied the leather dye how can I blend it in to the rest of the fingerboard? Is it just apply a few coats until it matches or are there any tricks of the trade?
  21. Hi all, I should say that the epoxy I used was black, but when sanded it’s gone grey. It turns out that it can be stained so I’ve got some leather dye and will use that. Will share some pics when it’s done…
  22. The series’s are classic CMS cloning problems. Instead of creating a new page from scratch, he replaces the info i stead. Standard practice but if you’re doing s lot (or it’s late, you’re tired etc.) then errors creep through. When I do web projects we do a three stage check process, but that level of scrutiny isn’t cheap.
