  1. Thankfully not (Bristol!)
  2. My cover band has this chat and we only do gigs within 45 minutes of Bristol. We’re lucky enough that this still means we play lots of gigs, but means relatively early nights.
  3. A lot of Italian bands used to play Dynelectrons, a copy of the original. Great if you can find one!
  4. Will still see the remaining books for £20 delivered… come on you know you want to!
  5. The strap on its own is worth £200.
  6. 95% of bass is about turning up on time, following the chords and doing the basics. Finding the groove is what we live for!
  7. A hell of a player this guy. I remember one summer ailing all of “and out come the wolves” after an ex girlfriend gave me the CD. Might get the Thunderbird out and have a crack this morning!
  8. In my experience that’s usually because one of the scumbag bedroom dealers has got there first.
  9. Prices go up over time shocker! You can get a perfectly good, giggable bass for £50. You may not like the name on the headstock, but the Ibanez bass I got for £50 was streets ahead of anything I’d owned in the 90s. I picked up a vintage Japanese Squier for a tad over £100 last week. You can still get good stuff without breaking the bank.
  10. Love this. The simplest solution is almost always the right one.
  11. I have a nice solid wood Donner ukelele I have no use for if you want it? Pay postage and it’s yours. I have one of these which I got at an incredible price from Toby. http://www.jazzboxukes.com/emporium.htm
  12. Took it to tonight’s gig and there was an intermittent fault on the jack socket, so that needs sorting.
  13. After the Thunderbird opened the floodgates I found a 1990 Jap Squier Precision for £100. I mean, I couldn’t turn that down…
  14. It’s a slippery slope. You could find yourself covered in that weird foil from scratchcards, unable to play bass as your hand is permanently grasping an imaginary coin ready to scrape your way to untold riches.
  15. Star connection does crazy things. I assume there’s an in-person component to this auction as well? I once saw a men dressed head to toe as a cowboy punch the air after securing a BB King signed 335 for £5000 (before fees). Made the auction memorable!
  16. I reckon £25,000
  17. Tasty looking 64 jazz ready to land at ATB Guitars as well…
  18. It’s a used instrument. Fender can’t be responsible for what happens when a bass is in the wild. It’s disappointing that you took this to a professional who wasn’t able to do this to your satisfaction. Setting up and instrument is pretty easy, they’ve been designed in a way that makes this possible using some standard tools. I set the action, intonation, and pickup height while my wife cooked some pasta. Pickups can become stuck sometimes and difficult to move, so worth getting the screwdriver, loosening them off, and then they’re having a wiggle.
  19. This. I read a few posts about your experiences with this pedal and subsequently bought one and it’s been fantastic. Its a line selected, DI, HPF and superb EQ.
  20. I’m out and possibly shouldn’t be contributing, but I’ve had two deals I couldn’t refuse. It’s weird but there seem to be so many bargains about at the moment, it’s mad.
  21. These competitions are legit and are regulated too. They’re also hugely profitable for the companies who operate them. It’s gambling so I’m instantly out but it’s a small enough amount that it wouldn’t destroy your life.
  22. Hate is too strong an emotion. I’m indifferent which is the worst thing.
