    De-Fret??

    I wouldn't.
  2. A party/cover band I was in built on 80% personal relations and 20% musicality and capability. Drummer with no sense of time, a bass player who followed the singer instead of the drummer a keyboard player who used much prescence nagging about the unsteady beat and time feel, unstable singers. One band member did printed arrangements of all songs to everyone to make sure we were all "on the same page". There seemed to be a rule that every song should have at least one guitar solo and most songs were transposed constantly to accommodate the tonal range of the singers. Still, after 30+ years, the bass player claims being unable to hear the bassline of the original track. Despite the written arrangements the songs were always sounded different from time to time. On stage most had a sturdy black note stand with the printed arrangement in front of them, which - together with stage monitors, light stands and front speaker stands - sort of made a black wall between us and the audience. Supported a bit by the access to printed arrangements nobody cared to memorise the songs, meaning that most of us were staring at the printed arrangement meaning a loss of contact to the audience. Despite that we did get 2-4 quite successful gigs in the best years. We did change many of the songs by simplifying parts that we could not play.
  3. I want to improve timing and consistency of my playing. I am fairly sure it involves adjustments to playing technique. ... Maybe see if a new bass helps, you never know πŸ™‚
  4. Check the distance between the strΓngs and the (fret)board. If there is not clearance for the string to vibrate the tone will die - especially the deep tones. Most basses - even the cheapest of cheapest - will (if they have no serious defects) play at least decently if setup properly. So it is very likely something that can be solve by proper adjustment. As You probably bought this from new and may not be able to set it up yourself I would recommend starting by complain about the issue to Thomann and hear what they can offer.
  5. Yes, but check which is what of the terminals.
  6. πŸ™‚ Have fun!
  7. Yamaha do on their website offer the possility to ask them questions ... πŸ™‚
  8. The Original Soundtrack and How Dare You (along with most Supertramp and late The Kinks releases) were magnificent releases in the popular end of progressive rock. Much creativity and good music on this side of the pond.
  9. Nice. Congratulations. It certainly looks really nice and in good shape. Must be a proud feeling, being 2nd owner on an almost 60year old bass.
  10. And some mighty resolutions. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Acoustic piano ?
  12. Have any of you tried these strings? If so how can you describe them ? I presently use D'Addario XL170-5 which are OK but the B string maybe lacks a bit in clarity. I would like to get rid of fingering noise and maybe get a little smoother feel - maybe try flats. Then these pop up as pricewise in the middle between consumers rounds and the cheapest quality flats.
  13. Neither would I ever use a r2r for making pottery. But a turntable ... maybe 😁
  14. Thinking about it I dont think I have seen him play in any of his videos. But he does the talking, with his charming accent.
  15. Probably due to choice of lens and camera setup - it appears enormous compared to Mr. BassTheWorld.

    NU-X Zeus Jr.

Check mA rating per outlet. Some digital effects are demanding.
  17. It could also be stolen goods ... 🀨
  18. 3 possible reason: 1. They stop gigging 2. They realized how practical multi effect units are 3. They are in separation from their partner and forgot the pedal board when they moved out 4. (Bonus) They realized tone is in the fingers 5. (Extra bonus) They grew up and started playing upright (bass, double bass πŸ˜‰)
  19. ☝️😁
  20. πŸ˜‚ Actually this is quite funny. I think the post adresses how the subtle hints to the qualities of the product are put into words. This is how they do it over there. Just like politicians before an election - anywhere, actually 😏 For what I expect from a product description this is a bit over the top but I am not into heavy metal.
  21. By going passive you don't need batteries 😁. It is also likely that the pu and pream of the Ibanez were made for each other. You may need to change some potentimeters, if going passive. That would be my uneducated choice anyway.
  22. Prepare as well as you can as proposed above and when you are on, be in it with all you've got, think of your brother and do the best you can.
  23. Aren't residual current breakers required for any legal installation ? (General question) Do they exist as simple carry along / plugin devices ?
  24. If you have bass with active electronics: how is the battery state?
  25. Joyo Scylla + Tidal wave sounds fine, if you want cheap. The sound is innthe warmer end. The Spectradrive may be better for getting a bit more "aggression" to the sound which cuts better in the mix as it beside a really good one-knob compression (and tubedrive) also has a really well thought out 4 band tone control. I have experimented a bit with a Zoom MS pedal which (as other multieffects) tend to gain a good conveniency score. Each of these three have a sonic character of their own. The Zoom also run on battery where the other two depend on a 9V supply.
