1. In my present band we tend to act as a band when it comes to in and out. I have also been in a band where the singers would expect the lads to do all the work. We don't get out much so I still find it funny to set up and pack down.
2. For many years I found this song stupid - but now I think that it actually carries a message. We have to keep ourselves going. If not by playing bass then try another instrument, if not by playing, try consuming. Taking up a social dance (salsa/disco/tango/...) is also a great way to approach music - and may even give you something you find beneficial when you get back into playing the bass.
3. If you don't get feed back when writing Thomann you can also call their hotline on phone ... If you talk nice to them they will be nice to you 😉
4. I mostly have big parcels delivered to my workplace. I once had to return a guitar to Thomann. They sent a label for a transport meaning that I had to send it via packet shop. I checked with them and facing the same kind of misery as you describe. I then asked Thomann for a different label/voucher. I had no problems with that, really, and the packet was sent and picked up (by probably DHL) at my workplace. If Thomann hasn't changed their policy it shouldn't be a problem. The QA issues sound bad. Up to now I heard mostly good about Sire but apparently they all can fail. I was gassing quite hard over the SBMM short scale but after reading of the big variation in quality I concluded that it was not worth the risk. I still use my cheap Squier for short scale. It wasn't perfect but in that price range (1/4 of the SBMM) it is easier just to shrug and do the fret level and replace the output jack.
5. Wish you a good recovery. Thanks for answering.
6. Thanks. The factory is a piezo driver. I use the tc also for keyboard so I miss a tweeter. I will look at p.audio tweeters they seem magnetic so I will need a different crossover. Do they have a webshop?
7. Hey, @Rayman. Have you tried the Eminence tweeter in your BG250-115?
8. The fingerboard wood seems to differ. JB40 is Pau ferro JB75 is Laurel. IDK if that has any practical value.
9. I am. Recently my tinnitus has mostly been fed and maintained by sound guys. Recommendation to OP turn general volume down and use good ear plugs. I most pubs I have been to people (audience) also like being able to conversate. Not necessarily at a high intellectual level, but still ... If the audience cant hear you they will make you aware. How well you can distinguish the different voices and instruments with plugs depends on the quality of ear plugs. Well fitted individual molded plugs with changeable filter works for me.
10. Besides taking the dog for a walk before Ragnarök I have worked with the timing and accentuation of some disco bass lines and I spent some good time seeing "Closer The The Edge" while my loved significant other is at work. Due to the working schedule we will have our new years dinner tomorrow. "Closer To The Edge" has nothing to do with Yes or U2 but is about IoM TT. Nice view if you are into those kinds of things 🙂. Happy New Year.
11. I use a toneprint in my tc amp. Works quite well.
12. A lightweight instrument body adds to the tendency to neck dive. My SS Jaguar does not dive but it weighs some 4.2kg.
13. If You always travel to the same destination you could also just have a bass of your preferred model stationary there.
14. I have a short scale Jaguar. It is soundwise very P-bass (on the P pickup, that is) so maybe not very different. It is not super light, though, and weight costs if you are travelling by plane. Especially if you travel as your username indicates. If I were in the situation You describe I would consider a Traveler ultra light bass. I have not tried it myself but from the reviews at Thomann's the sound seems to be their weakest point - if you can live with the ergonomics. If sound is important a preamp/signal conditioner is probably needed - or you can upgrade it with a conventional magnetic pickup.
15. I have no real good tool for measuring. I set the height using a calibrated match that I have ground to appr. 2mm and then increase/lower depending on buzzyness with a slight relief of the neck. The E-string of my basses (all 4 string) will at 17th position normally be 2-3 mm. Highest on the 30" scale bass. If I get carried away when playing, plucking the string will be accompanied by a small single "clack" from the frets which is mostly audible with full open tone control if. To my ears a too low action is not good for slap. So I am probably mainstream. I like low action but when I play I don't think that I would really bother that much if the string height was 3mm on all my basses. What matters most is that the string height at 1st fret is right.
16. I tried many types. Today I use molded plugs with the ER filters. I switch between 15dB and 25dB. These are overall best. Among the budget plugs, I find Planet Waves (PWPEP1Pacato Hearing Protection) best. The filter on these is good and the plug fit the ear canal reasonably well. Many budget types seem to be designed for smaller ear canal widths.
17. I am in a(n amateur)band where the keyboard player records our rehearsals on a simple recorder. Occasionally he burns a CD to the band members and I listen to it when it happens. Simply because this - to me at least - is necessary to improve my playing in a way that supports the song the right way. Not that I am nerdy about playing the exact same lines every time but the musical expression and character of playing has to be right. This can be difficult to judge unbiased in the moment you play.
18. Tal Wilkenfield, John Mayer (music of the past but they are still alive :-) ) and maybe some Bony M and Vulfpeck.
19. Some youtube videos with Tal Wilkenfield, John Mayer. Even if they seem to play music of the past they are themselves very present. And when he is ready maybe some Boney M and some Vulfpeck just to demonstrate that the bass often carries the whole thing through. On a second thought - maybe you shouldn't show him a video with Bony M.
I've not noticed a problem with that yet ...
I don't know if it is common and - truth to be said - I played it for 3 years before I overcame my laziness and got the work done. But worth it on my guitar.

Congrats. CP 50s are very nice. Especially for clean sounds and light dirt. Mine was very (VERY!) noisy when not touching the strings until I painted the cavities with conductive paint. Very worth the effort.
22. I wanted to try a short scale so I got a Squier VM Jaguar SS. It is very comfortable to play for a number of reasons. Compared to my other basses especially the E-string might appear to have less definition. But that might be due to other causes than scale itself (strings brand and gauge, pickups brand and configuration, slimmer neck, different materials etc. etc. etc.). But it has a thump or Oomph! not surpassed by any other bass that I have. Many choices available at reasonable prices so give it a try.
23.
Provenance isn't just about who has previously owned a bass; I'd probably be more likely to pay more for a bass if it came with original receipt, tags & all the serial numbers/year codes in the correct places than I would for a bass that had none of that stuff, especially for brands that people have been known to fake/bolt random bits together. But would I pay more for a celebrity owned/played bass? Absolutely not.
Same thing here. Seeing a too-good-to-be-true deal I often suspect it might be stolen.
