1. Thanks all..one company contact made and some cheeky asides about drummers! The screen would be for a guitar cabinet mainly but Matt P's thoughts could be very relevant for smaller gigs with brick wall stage surround (e.g. Farnham Maltings, terrible onstage sound for bands). I recently saw Eric Johnson ion his European tour using a homemade type 'baffle' that looked like a hinged and carpeted screen, so if carpet is good enough for Eric, then I'm sure he has looked at all options available.
  2.
This may be a silly question.... Drummers are loud, put a screen round them and mic them up. they can play like Keith Moon and not drown out everyone else Valve bass amps sound better louder, run them somewhere with screens at the front (and back?) and mic them to get the fully saturated valve guitar sounds. A bass amp... in most cases not so volume dependent.... why not just turn it down?
The question was for a 'guitar shield'..I would never use a bass one !

  4.
Hi I'll be having a good clearout in the next few days and wondered if anyone would be interested in what i have for sale I'll start the list with the few things i can remember and update as i find more workshop treasure! 1x musicman 4 string pickup! bought new from musicground, Leeds 8 years ago for £60! i was told it was the real deal but who knows? i never installed it and has been sat in a draw all this time! Your's for £25 posted 1x set of Covered jazz bass pickups from my old Yamaha BBG4 Covers are a little worn so £15 posted is fine for these. 1x Stew Mac "Jaws" fret press device! http://www.stewmac.c...Press/Jaws.html this is one very clever tool! it's very easy to use and comes with all the popular radius cauls (7.5, 9, 10, 12, 16) it gives a much more even finish than hammering frets in and doesn't mark or damage the frets like hammering can sometimes do. this setup cost over £150 before shipping and duty / VAT. Yours for £80 posted 1x loaded squire strat scratchplate! white plate with 3 original squire pickups installed. (no pots / knobs included) looks wise, this has seen better days but it all works fine and could be of some use for a project / spares. yours for £20 posted Paypal or bank transfer is fine. i ship first class post or Fedex next day. i will update items as i find them and add pictures too when i get chance Cheers Chris 07974 317284
PM'd
  5. Out of interest I was trying to find if there are perspex type guitar speaker noise 'guards' available but no luck. Anyone know where I could get info on them please? These are the clear 'shields' placed in front of speakers, around drum kits etc on stage (and studio) to cut onstage levels from hitting the front row of the punters but allow the player to have their amp settings as per usual.
  6.
Hi all, Regrettably this has to go, its largely surplus to requirements and I'd rather it was getting used by someone. This is by far the best 410 I have ever owned and I'll be sad to see it go, but needs must. It's 800 watts, 8 ohms, and light at 25 kg. It does have a couple of cosmetic marks from use on it but it has been used regularly until I got my 210, but still in great condition for being a few years old, I'd say 8/10. My 'global limit has been exceeded' so I'm not sure how to rectify that other than linking you to pictures. Pick up preferred in the North East area or I can drive within reasonable distance. £425. Dan
Good luck..... excellent stand alone cabs or with a 2x10 traveller on top or 15 underneath !
  7.
Asking price £800 but will consider very close offers..... I need to move this bass on a.s.a.p. Hopefully the mp3 sound sample has attached okay..it is a very straight forward recording into a desk and copied across, no effects or compression. 4 string fretless bass. Bass weighs in at around 6lb 12oz. SINGLE piece Swamp Ash body with 'Tru Oil' finish... 3 piece maple neck wood (some very nice figure/flame) Ebony fingerboard Walnut piece on back of headstock. Schaller 3D bridge black Schaller machine tuners black Seymour Duncan Active Jazz pups with vol/tone/vol/tone The bass was one of two (the other sold) made by me for a shop which has unfortunately been having hard times so this bass has been sitting at home. It is ungigged. The Nut width is almost 40mm The f/board is about 6mm thick and is a compound radius from approx 10" to 16". Side dot 3mm markers on the note ie. on the 'F' 'G' 'A' etc to 24 'note/fret' length. The neck thickness has been left thicker on this bass than normal as I felt the lightness of the Swamp Ash body could do with a little more meatier a neck.....at least it is there to thin down if wanted. No dedicated case for this bass. Please note....I have played mainly fretless bass for many years, designed and built for myself but also for custom orders and I have always used the best parts available as noted here, no cheapo copied parts..... 12.
iKay....well found! No it isn't the same bass as the one for sale. The one in the video is very well gigged and is slightly different in shape, pups and is UK rippled ash body wood.
forgot to add that I'm using a Markbass 15 traveller, traveller 2x10 and Markbass LMK
  13.
Yes, I'm surprised too. But it won't be here for much longer. My drummer found free rehearsal space for us, so next week I hope to collect the cab from the Gallery and remove the post from Basschat... and it makes me happy that I don't need to part with it anymore
And so you should feel happy...I just used one of these cabs with a Markbass 1200(?) on a festival........massive and enjoyable, way over the next nights experience of (yet another) duff Ampeg 8x10 / SVT rig.
  14.
Hi, I'm just curious about what this is like to play. http://www.gumtree.c...-bass/106445148 Anyone into against the fan fret system? Any playing experiences?
Scale length differs from the top to bottom strings...I think on these models something like 33" to 35" Low E (B?). I believe the 'jazz' type basses from Dingwall go from 32" to 34" low E. ALl the models are on the Dingwall site.
  15.
what puppage are you using~?
The pickups on the bass for sale are Seymour Duncan Active Jazz ( JJ's I think is their defined model name). I used Seymour's for many years. The pickups on the video are "Delano" humbuckers, very nice and I would definitely try Delano jazz pups too.
  16.
Pete Stroud! Selling your no1 fretless bass! why mate? I can vouch for this bass, it's freeing amazing and Pete is a lovely guy who doesn't smell at all!!!
BigJim..haha. thanks for giving me the 'all clear' on the cologne front.......(not the bass in video for sale....yet?)
  17.
Very nice playing Pete
thanks Bobby K....twas a subtle sunny afternoons playing with "BAD INFLUENCE' in a country pub garden.

  20. I would always go for two separate boxes over one large.
  21.
More stuff to clear out and make space Here are 2 Elecrovoice SX200 PA cab which are great for vocals etc. They are pretty clean with some minor knocks. They can either be used on their own or with subs. They are each 300w RMS rated at 8 ohms. I was using them as monitors for the band so they havent been pushed very hard. They come complete with padded covers by Falcon and also the plastic stands that allow you to use the cabs at the correct angle as monitors. I'm looking for £200 for the lot + shipping
PM'd today 5pm
  22.
Hello folks Does anyone have experience using both the SM58 and SM58 Beta microphones from Shure? This will be my first stage mic and I wonder if there is much benefit in splashing out a few extra $$$ for the beta. Cheers
The 58 is just a little 'muddier' in the lows compared to the cleaner and crisper Beta. They are industry 'standard' because although very good, I think their advertising helps sell more than anyone else. We can tend to forget a few other makes.....Electrovoice N/Ds (758??) as used by a singer I work with, an excellent mic for 'his' voice which is bluesy deep and growly. There is also a Beyer model quoted to me just yesterday that was used by many singers that was considered a top mic. I recently bought a Rode M1which is also very good that I prefer for BVs over the 58 as it is just that little cleaner in the lows. Be wary that Shure is probably the most 'pirated/copied' mic on the planet. Shure say they regularly close 'fake' factories in China with the help of the Chinese authorities. Their website can help you ascertain a real and a fake but even Shure's mic weight specifications seem not to be correct and I think this is to confuse the fakers (sic!).
  23.
I'm not selling it for the time being
If you are NOT selling it for the time being, then change the thread to NOT FOR SALE NOW?
  24.
Here I am regrettably putting up my beloved Markbass 102 H (not HF!) cab for sale. I bought this from user brick about 4 months ago and has been essential to my tone. It's a beautiful amp, light as all MBs are, and an extremely clear and punchy tone. It's double ported at the front, making it more responsive in the low end compared to the newer HF series 2x10 cabs. The tradeoff being a bit more weight added to the amp (I think it's about 23 Kgs, still light!) I love the sound I get through this amp, unfortunately, it's too big for the majority of my gigs (being an actively gigging music student with no car at the moment). It has an adjustable tweeter, is 8 Ohms and rates at 400W RMS. In incredible condition as it has had little gigging use (unsure with the previous owner) Here are some snaps of the beaut (from an iPhone camera so quality isn't amazing) Will sell for £250 collected from Hull, but buyer can arrange courier as I have a box from brick. Peace, Alec
you keep saying "amp" and you mean cabinet, slightly confusing on the first read through....and these are excellent cabs.
