Headless 4 String Fretless Unlined + Gigbag...Poss. trade.
mybass replied to mybass's topic in Basses For Sale
This bass has quite a bit of eye catching wood involved...... Old mahogany wood on the back, black walnut front, maple and wenge neck. 34" scale with Maccassar ebony f/board and side position dots. Seymour Duncan pickups (non active). The licensed tuning mechanism with the end string retainer (slightly marked) was bought as a 'seconds' unit so I can't say that part is new. (New complete units were extremely expensive when I was looking). My part time 'luthier' projects both for orders and to make my own instruments led me to build this headless bass. The body design was taken from the top bout of a P bass with my own lower bout design with the 'violin' type cutaway. A correct size Warwick gig bag is supplied with the bass. Lovely to play, big sound with these pups, strong sturdy neck with two strap holders at the end for choice of position. The bass has sat around the 'bass cupboard' at home for 3/4 years now so it looks like I'm not a headless bass player! (sic) Visitors welcome to try it out through some Markbass gear. Considering parts cost and labour I would be looking for £745 O.N.O.
bump -
mP3 soundclip is available by email. The bass was recorded direct through a Yamaha desk, no effects of compression added, just the straight DI signal. I would be interested in a trade on this bass for a Markbass 3 and Markbass HF 2x10 (single front port, not the Traveller) A four string headless bass with some very nice pieces of wood involved in it's build...... Old mahogany wood on the back with a very nice 'sheen' to it. A very nice piece of black walnut on the top. The neck is a 5 piece maple/wenge 34" scale with a Macassar unlined ebony fingerboard which is excellent for fretless bass with large 3mm side dots. (Macassar is very often used for double bass fingerboards, not quite as 'hard' a sound as black ebony). Two Seymour Duncan pickups (non active) with volume, pan and tone controls. The licensed tuning mechanism with the end string retainer (which is slightly marked) was bought as a 'seconds' unit so I can't say this part is new. (New complete units were extremely expensive when I was looking as opposed to these licensed units). I've built quite a few basses as orders and for myself over the past 18 years as a 'part time luthier', aside from keeping up being a full time player. The body design was taken from the top bout of a P bass with my own lower bout design with the 'violin' type cutaway. A correct size 'headless' Warwick gig bag is supplied with the bass. It is lovely to play, big sound with these pups, strong sturdy neck with two strap holders at the end for choice of position/angle of the bass when worn. The bass has sat around the 'bass cupboard' at home for 3/4 years now so it looks like I'm not a headless bass player! (sic) Visitors welcome to try it out through some Markbass gear. Considering parts cost and labour I would be looking for ........ NOW £700

Mark Bass F Series (True Power Rating Help)
mybass replied to neptunehealer's topic in General Discussion
Hello all. I have been gigging with a Mark Bass F Series head (limited edition) for a couple of years now. In fact i bought it off here. As i am now seeking to use it at 4 ohms i have entered the realms of needing to know it's maxcimum power output. I have looked online and i can't find an official spec, just seen for sale adverts. People selling them say it's rated 250@8ohms and 450@4ohms. I know it says 450W on the front of the head, but on the back of the head on a silver plate it says Power rating = 550W So is my head 450@4ohms or 550@ohms? Here's a pic of it to help you to help me. [url="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Mq&sa=X&tbo=d&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&biw=1280&bih=707&tbm=isch&tbnid=xbq7HlBHEX8-nM:&imgrefurl=http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/anybody-using-bass-rig-completely-non-us-uk-918111/index2.html&docid=At2EyEbyvjR_0M&imgurl=http://medias.audiofanzine.com/images/normal/markbass-little-mark-f1-limited-edition-315346.jpg&w=3264&h=2448&ei=Ryj5UM2dMc2W0QXMqoD4Ag&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=1&sig=109946944603662019504&page=1&tbnh=142&tbnw=186&start=0&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0,i:86&tx=71&ty=43"]http://www.google.co...:86&tx=71&ty=43
I think the amps are 'moderately' rated a little below what they actually can put out. -

I've just won one off Ebay and want to house it in something better than the box it came in. Acoustic bass cases/bags look too deep to me, but happy to be proved wrong. Ta for answers & tolerance ......
I think the Bex is pretty wide across the body/width. Try Kinsman cases.
Bugera 'Classic' Bass Series 10" Speaker 300 watt 4 ohm I've just taken apart a Behringer 2x10 cabinet. There was no sound from the cabinet when plugged in. One speaker appears dead and the other one appears good. I assume this by linking a P9 battery to the speaker terminals which audibly moves the speaker if working or not.....I have not played through the speaker. I also have the horn and crossover from the cabinet. If anyone wants the speaker (or all) for free, good for spares maybe......
BUMP -
Hi all, I've been asked to replace some blown drivers in a markbass 4x10. Does anyone know who or where sells them? Cant seem to find much other than the markbass website which doesent seem to deal with customer support. Any help much appreciated. Cheers Just
PM sent

gone to 'Jabba the Gut' as long as we can get it to him... FREE......... Bugera 'Classic' Bass Series 10" Speaker 300 watt 4 ohm. Could be a spare for your existing Behringer cab. Taken out of a Behringer 2x10 cabinet that wasn't 'working'. However, on testing with a P9 battery to each speaker terminal, one speaker appears dead but the other one responded. I have not played through this one 'working' speaker as yet but if anyone is interested I can try and set it up with bass and amp. Collection or post to you at cost.
Thanks guys adding some mouse mat to the sponge has worked a treat. The angle has partially corrected itself but I think I've sussed out why the neck pup is doing it, the pup is not dead centre in the cavity and is at a slight angle and I think it is sticking against the scratch plate as it's very tight, so at some point in the future (when OCD kicks in ) I'll reseat it correctly. Thanks again Tony
Springs?
It hurts to sell this. Rarer than hen's teeth - I doubt you'll find another sunburst in the UK. Custom shop quality. Info here. £1300, including all the case, bits and additional custom-made tort pickguard. I'll ship at the buyer's expense. Here's a clip of it with gruffy old flats on it. It SINGS with rounds.
Extremely good sounding bass to record with as well....I have one....I think the pickups are Bill Lawrence designed/made. -
Any. Assuming you arr talking about the 9v pedals.
yes the 9v pedals but, just like jack plugs have a slight size difference, noticeable especially if the jack socket is a stereo barrel type. I've been having a little trouble with power supply to EBS pedals on my Boss pedal board...
-
Can anyone tell me if EBS pedals would need EBS power distributor cables (the small ones not the actual mains plug) as sold by EBS or will any make do?

This is because we had to pay the developer to get the plug in installed and the forum isn't generating enough to pay for this, the development of drumchat and guitarchat as well as the usual maintenance upgrades and hosting. So whatever support you can offer by using this feature would be very much appreciated. Transition from old to new: Unfortunately the old format can't be incorporated into the new format so there will be a transitional period of 4 weeks after the new layout is introduced. This is to help make the adjustment process as smooth as possible. The old classifieds layout will be closed and locked so those who have recently posted ads in the old format still get visibility OR enough time to repost under the new system. Once the transition period is over, the old classifieds will be archived but will still be visible. Subject to review: This is unchartered territory so we'll be reviewing how well the new layout is working and be making adjustments along the way. We've also been looking into whether we can retain a bumping facility. However the problem is that bumping isn’t part of the original classifieds plug-in and is likely to need custom coding. The question in our mind is...is it worth it? Especially since there will be up to 60 items visible per page. We're waiting to hear back from the original developers of the classifieds plug-in on whether its technically feasible. But to be honest while some have found bumping useful, others have questioned it. Any thoughts or comments on the bumping feature?
At the moment I cannot get into any 'Topics' unless I just view "View New Topics".
can you suggest some of the best octave pedals,, features, tracking etc... ive been looking at the MXR 288.. i dont have much experience with effects etc so would appreciate any thoughts cheers
Remember to check the mains power required. Most are 9v and also use 9v battery. Markbass octave pedal (very good) needs a 12v mains power supply but uses up a 9v battery rather quickly!.
Ive noticed that my kickback 12 produces quite a bit of distortion when ever I start playing loud and hard, when im playing quietly I get the warm smooth sounds that im looking for for some of our songs but as soon as i start turning it up distortion starts to kick in, is this the natural sound of these amps or is this a problem?
I don't think they can be 'pushed' too much....possibly replacing with a better (!) speaker may help
Asking price £800 but will consider very close offers..... I need to move this bass on a.s.a.p. Hopefully the mp3 sound sample has attached okay..it is a very straight forward recording into a desk and copied across, no effects or compression. 4 string fretless bass. Bass weighs in at around 6lb 12oz. SINGLE piece Swamp Ash body with 'Tru Oil' finish... 3 piece maple neck wood (some very nice figure/flame) Ebony fingerboard Walnut piece on back of headstock. Schaller 3D bridge black Schaller machine tuners black Seymour Duncan Active Jazz pups with vol/tone/vol/tone The bass was one of two (the other sold) made by me for a shop which has unfortunately been having hard times so this bass has been sitting at home. It is ungigged. The Nut width is almost 40mm The f/board is about 6mm thick and is a compound radius from approx 10" to 16". Side dot 3mm markers on the note ie. on the 'F' 'G' 'A' etc to 24 'note/fret' length. The neck thickness has been left thicker on this bass than normal as I felt the lightness of the Swamp Ash body could do with a little more meatier a neck.....at least it is there to thin down if wanted. No dedicated case for this bass. Please note....I have played mainly fretless bass for many years, designed and built for myself but also for custom orders and I have always used the best parts available as noted here, no cheapo copied parts.....
Bump .... for maybe the last time before .......... xmas!
Bit of a bass clearout going on sees this bass from my 'workshop' for sale. This is really a very nice bass, great action and I must say looks pretty good too! 4 string fretless with a 5 piece Wenge/Maple (slight figured) neck. Macassar ebony fingerboard. Lovely USA Black Walnut facing on top of a very nice 2 piece mahogany back. Seymour Duncan Humbuckers......volume /tone/balance controls sitting on a top facing (what was that wood?) control plate. 3 large strap holders. 'Tru oil' finish looks very nice on this wood combination. Comes with a dedicated (Warwick) headless bass gig bag. The 'licensed' tuning system was bought as a 'seconds' unit but is in very nice condition. I designed and built this a few years ago and have only ever used it for one gig (in Italy) where it performed great, creating a big sound through a rather large Hartke rig. It has since sat indoors unused. I would be happy to let it go for £750. Oops, can't get the Mp3 to work....please email if you want more info. Mp3 recording is the bass plugged straight into a desk for each pickup and combined pickup sound, no effect/compressor used, so this is not the bass sound through a speaker/amp set up.
Bump
