1. Thanks everyone, a mix of interesting opinions.
 2. I have an EBS Multicomp pedal that is good but my ears feel it alters the bass sound. Anyone had one of these and changed to something they feel is more 'true'...?
 3. MSL Pro UK are Markbass agents .... try http://www.mslpro.co.uk
 4.
And another PM - can't believe I missed this before posting a want ad!
Did you get it Mykesbass?
 5. I've played this particular bass..... Measured at 32.5" scale, easy playing action, it recorded really well, the lights work. nice condition and lightweight on the shoulder.
 6. They might be Gibson strings
 7.
Hi there everyone, I'm looking to buy a pair of headphones for monitoring music production, monitoring recording and the like. My budget isn't massive so something fairly cheap and cheerful but but will give a clean unbiased sound reproduction if possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I use Sennheiser HD 600 but they cost a bit over £250 (off Ebay) new but have since been superseded. I got these as a friend mixed his album using them and I thought the end result was very good. Cheap n cheerful headphones abound but won't always give a decent real true listening experience.
 8. Don't suppose it's the medium scale / 32" neck?
 9.
'Wanted' posts are immediately locked, so no bumping is possible. That is all.
Thanks Japanaxe, I thought it might be something like that...
 10. I just tried 'bumping' my own post (looking for an Fender Aerodyne medium scale bass) but am told that I cannot reply to the post....how else can I 'bump' it or is it not possible for wanted posts......
 11.
Posted Today, 06:46 PM Just wondering if someone can help me. I have a Fender aerodyne precision bass but it's not like the one's i've seen. It only has the p.bass pickups which are dimaggio. It's a japanese import and was only made for a few years 2005/2006. I can't find it anywhere on the net,I want to know the value of it as I might consider selling it.
Out of interest, is it a medium/32" scale or full 34" scale? They appear to be around £500/550 new in Japan, £300/350 second hand in Japan on EBay
 12.
Have a lot of this guys music, but this is a real standout record for me..
The Robert Cray Band are a great live band for their music content and tasteful playing, saw them recently at Guildford, terrific.
 13.
Anybody know much about these? I found a battered BB300 in a random shop that has nothing to do with musical instruments. Apparently it's an 80's made in Japan P-bass, although I didn't ask to take a look at any serial numbers. I became curious about it when I got home so thought I'd ask here. I'm not sure what would be a fair price for one of these. I'm guessing not much at all.
Generally well made basses...
 14.
Recent purchase of DB 751 has led to great joy - but - it hisses (white noise) if either preamp gain or master volume are set over 10.00 o'clock. This happens without any bass plugged in. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this kind of thing - I've tried replacing the valves in the preamp with no joy (and the tweeter in my cab is off. Hmm?
I had an Aguilar many years ago and my sound man complained that it made a hiss out of the DI and changed the output valve. At the time this cured the problem. 'AIRCUOTIX' seems to be well into this problem ........ I figure his comment 'making back' means re-soldering the joints? Good luck, hiss drives everyone mad!
 15.
I had a piece of wood just like that Turned in to this, quite enjoyable to play, more so because I think because I constructed it
Nice bit of wood and looks like it sounds good!
 16. I found this in my stores of old wood and parts. It has obviously had some different hardware. I'll leave the neck screw/bolt 'collars' on in case damage occurs as they are tightly fitted. The wood is 'rippled ash', costs about £80+ these days for the raw block of wood, it has a 'Tru oil' finish. Weighs in at about 4.10 lbs and the neck slot is close on 66.35mm at its widest (17mm deepest). It could possibly take a five string neck though I think this was originally made for a wider four string neck. Postage to be added if not collected.
 17. NOW ON EBAY........ I've had this cabinet about 4 years and used it only 3-4 times to add to an existing PA in larger than normal venues for the band(s). Works well as it has an onboard crossover, simply plug in to the amp output or chain off another speaker and it gives out low end volume to add to the 'top' speaker cabs. In very good condition with original packing box. Collect and test is always better but it works fine. 18.
Thoughts and experiences please. Got a couple of dates lined up in Europe later this year. It's most likely I'll be buying a markbass head (blackline 250) very soon and it would be this that I'd be taking out. Although Europe has virtually the same voltage supply as us, I'm wary of Markbass saying their amps are set to the voltage of country of purchase. Am I losing sleep over nothing, or has anyone actually had issues? Cheers Thomas
I've used my MarkBass amp in Europe with no problem. Better to get a 500 watt head maybe for touring, you never know what cabs will be supplied?
 19.
as the title says - any ideas? Many thanks
try Martin strings...
 20.
PRICE DROP TO £600 Only one gig under its belt and has since sat in its Warwick headless bass case for a few years. Excellent action on maccasar ebony fingerboard and 5 piece maple/wenge neck, lovely sound off the walnut and mahogany body. Seymour Duncan hum buckler pups. The tuning system uses normal strings, the ball end anchors at the top end of the neck and it stays in tune for ever. I kept thinking I could get into headless bass but its not to be so even though I designed and built it, I'm just not using it at all so it has to go or else I will be dismantling it. I design and build basses, have done for over 15 years both for myself and private orders than are generally more expensive than priced here for this bass. This bass plays really well, feels solid and has a great look to it. The top bout follows the contours of the fender bass outline and the two end strap buttons allow different playing positions. Can be posted but always nice to try before you buy. There is a sound clip lurking on my computer somewhere if anyone needs, email address please.
Bump
 21.
I'm looking at replacing the jazz bridge pickup in my aerodyne Jazz bass. The current one is a bit weak and hums a fair bit. A few yaers ago the SD quarter pounder was suggested to me. I probably will go for this, but when looking to purchase I noticed theres quite alot of options for under £80. Anyone got any other suggestions that I could look at before just biting the bullet with the SJB-3? Not looking for anything too hot, and nothing that might be a bit 'rock'. Just a nice solid sounding pickup that will hopefully reduce hum.
Why would you be 'biting the bullet with an SJB'? Sounds like maybe you are hopeful of something exotic being suggested but really, the Seymour Duncan pickups are a top brand and there are a few different hum cancelling models. Even the active jazz set with 1000 hour battery life are excellent and no where near as 'hot' as the earlier switchable actives. The DiMarzio are very good too and having tried two types of their jazz ones, I still prefer SDs. Now it's down to your ears and finances but I think someone had some SJBs on here recently.

I may be interested in part trade on Markbass LM3 or even Markbass 2x10... Only one gig under its belt and has since sat in its Warwick headless bass case for a few years. 23.
Hi All, I play a headless five string which uses only standard strings, not double ball end. Trouble is, the nipped off ends of the strings are a deadly weapon in waiting (See pic) Any suggestions for making the sharp ends less dangerous? Tape looks terrible and when I trimmed the strings right down to the block that was enough to start one of them unravelling. All ideas welcome, not least because if I don't fix this then sooner or later the keyboard player is going to end up with a lacerated ear'ole. Some clear stuff that acts like bluetack? Cheers All. 24.
I'm looking for a 45 - 105 (130) set for fretless basses that will sing a bit with not to much mwah, and not chew up the fingerboard. I've got what I believe to be Thomastik flats on my Wal 5, (red silks) they feel nice but I can't get on with the sound. On my Fender P/J Ive got Status half wounds which are ok but a bit too high tension, not enough growl. I don't want to sound like Jaco or Pino, I suppose I'm after a more upright sound. I've also tried those black ones and don't like them.
I'm using D'Addario nickel round wound, same gauge as you. No problems with them. Galli (Italian make) are also very good.
 25.
No bass clef on the one I had. The Les Pauls are two basses I now regret selling.
You get that thought after selling!
