£145 for £3000 of cover I have x6 that level of cover for my basses PLUS all of my assorted music amplification, a couple of guitars, 1 bass insured for £2200 away from the home AND all of my contents up to £40k for about the same premium... Liverpool Victoria through Frizzell. Maybe I'm missing something but my insurers seem happy to cover and all I had to do was get a music shop to give me a written quotation for my basses to be replaced new for old. However (touch wood), I've never made a claim in 20+ years of having insurance.
Is that covering you for professional use of kit? That is, actually taking money for the gig? If not then if something goes wrong and they find out you are taking £ for the gig they will not pay you. Is that whichever bass you happen to have out of the house at the time or one specific bass? I'm not asking aggressively here, I have not been insured for a long time and I really need to get it set up again. When I was insured I got pay outs for a stolen keyboard and a dropped double bass (don't ask) with no problems.
OK - thnaks Owen.... that's just the one set of D'Walls and the Black diamonds left; plus the Ashbory & Guitar Strings.
Cool. I can now offer 2 x Dingwall top C strings for the cost of sending them to anyone who wants them. I will never play that high on principle
  3. I will take two of the Dingwall sets if you still have them. PM me your PP. Cheers
  4. I'll take it. Send me your PP details.
  5. I used to have a Riverhead Steinberger-a-like. If this was one of those I was going to have to buy it.
  6. The pre-amp is SO important in getting a decent sound from a piezo pick-up. As for mics to FOH, try an Audio Technica ATM350. Not overly expensive and really great to my ears (obv ymmv).
  7. Abe played on "Chips" the cop show from the 70's. Class beyond.

  16. I fancy Steve's IP310 so I'm seeing if anyone wants this. I will not be gutted if it does not go, but if it does that will be cool. IF Steve sells his then I shall withdraw this. £800 no trades, no offers. 12" + horn. 500W active cab with onboard DSP for flat response and speaker protection compression/limiting. 1000W if you plug in an 8Ohm extension speaker. It's been on the site for about 4 weeks and I'm surprised it's still there!
Thanks, I had clocked that. I think the GAS is subsiding, but it was powerful last night!

    Rob Allen GAS
A couple of years ago there was an MB2 at the Bass Gallery. Don't know if its still there. I tried it and was a bit disappointed. It had neck dive and didn't feel comfortable at all. The Deep 5 looks interesting though! There is a Mouse 30 on the Bass North West site. Rob Allen owners don't seem to part with their basses!!
Cannot find the Mouse on BassNW. Where is it hiding? Ta!
  21. Mmmmmm........... short scale goodness www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6oApthi3VQ 30"
  22. I am experiencing really bad Rob Allen GAS. http://www.roballenguitars.com/ Either a Mouse 30 or a Deep 5. Does anyone know if there are any accessible in the UK. It is a lot of money to drop on an unknown quantity - but, OH!, how lush are they?
  23.
Ok, mrs PTB just txt me whilst in Paris (the trip I was gonna go on, but can't cos of the layoffs) to tell me the mate she's staying with has managed to get VIP tickets to Madge's gig in Paris tomorrow night. These include VIP dinner, cocktails, the works, and I'm gutted to say the least ! I was just wondering who's got the gig on bass? Perhaps she can use her feminine charms to get me some free stuff *spelling edit*
I have no idea, but it used to be Darryl Jones. Mr Jones was killing time on a gig in Chicago and went to a local guitar emporium. He picked up a bass and started playing. The sales guy came up to him and started giving him all the chat, showing him all his best sales licks etc. and eventually asked if he played in any bands. Mr Jones told him what his gig was. Sales guy went very quiet and moved away.
  24. I had been thinking about the "taking a double seat" scenario, but am unsure about how much headroom there is for the neck. I used to carry my DB on the train all the time, but I carried my NS5 in a large case last year and got so much grief from the train manager it was not true. I guess that I shall just risk it. I will look pretty stupid if they say no!
