    Had a look through those and the only ones they have are the usual large plastic or metal ones for cabs. Starting to think it'll be easier to buy some plastic extrusion and attach it to the edges

    A while ago i took my problematic Superfly out of it's horrid casing and have been using it quite a bit with no problems. I added some rubber feet to it but the corners are way too sharp so i'd like to fit some small rubber/plastic/metal corners to it I can't seem to find any small enough, most places just sell the standard PA cab corners which are far too big. Anybody know where i can get some? Maybe even the rail type edges like the old Hartke amps had before they cased them? Ta in advance!

    I guess it depends on which head and cab, everything i've owned (Hartke and Markbass) has been great at low volumes. I use an Ashdown Superfly and a small 1x12 cab for solo practice and it sounds good If you're going to be practicing with a drummer or gigging in the near future then 2nd hand stuff is the way to go on your budget. There's nothing worse than having an amp that sounds great at home but doesn't have enough umph in a band situation It's surprising just how good old Peavey etc. gear sounds compared to new fancy gear, i saw a band last year with an old Peavey head into a no-name cab and it sounded ace

    The Hartke A series are great but build quality isn't as good as the old USA Hartke stuff. I have a little A70 which is loud and sounds great, however it's had a hard life and farts and rattles a bit now I'd certainly take the Hartke over the Electric Blue which although decent enough didn't sound anywhere near as good to my ears I'd still say go for a second hand head and cab instead of a smaller new combo. Have a look at Peavey stuff for something in your price range, there's usually a few for sale on here

    They're nice guitars though, worth the price it's currently at I sourced one a few years ago for a mate who wanted a guitar and wanted a Hetfield style guitar, found a mint example for about £400. Certainly better than the low-end BC Richs he'd been looking at Definitely not rare though!

    Although they appear to have gone out of fashion recently i use a Schroeder 1212r in a very loud band and it's a great one cab solution. Paired with a LMII it's handled everything i've thrown at it and has more than enough low-end.

    The year of manufacture should be attainable from the serial number. It should start with a letter and end with 2 numbers, these denote the month and year A serial that starts with a B and ends with 99 would be made in February 1999, one that starts with a D and ends with 02 would be made in April 2002 etc. You can do a quick check on the Warwick website: [url="http://www.warwickbass.com/modules/support/serials.php?katID=22701&cl=EN"]http://www.warwickbass.com/modules/support...22701&cl=EN[/url]

    Bassists are often just looking for one or two really good sounds. With a Jazz for instance, if i need a rockier tone i'll roll the bridge pickup off slightly. For the cleaner stuff i often do the opposite. The pickups on their own are two tonal extremes, only very rarely have i used a pickup on it's own, even then i had to eq the amp differently to get back the frequencies i lost (you lose quite a bit of low end with the bridge pickup solo'd) Changing your tone so drastically would alter where the bass sits in the mix, however the plus point is that it would annoy the sound engineer!

    Most people who use a bass would see it as unnecessary as you get the sounds you want from blending the pickups rather that having one on and the other off I had a pickup switch on an old Dean bass and it got in the way tbh

I used to have one of these and whilst i preferred my Corvette (active) the necks on these are great, the build quality is also top-notch as it's made in the same factory as all the other Warwicks Carolena is also called Kodiak Pine i think, here's a thread about it: [url="http://forum.warwick.de/17-warwick-rockbasses/10495-carolena-wood-wind-up.html"]http://forum.warwick.de/17-warwick-rockbas...od-wind-up.html[/url] It also says it's called Carolina Pine I found it quite light. Another advantage of these Streamer Standards is that the control cavity is big (standard Warwick size IIRC) so it can accomodate a pre-amp and battery easily if you choose to make it active. If i'd have kept mine i'd have put a pre-amp and pickup in there, there's usually something cheap in the for sale section on here so it needn't cost the earth

    It's not that bad Max, there's still a ton of bargains on there from perfectly legitimate sellers. I buy most of my computer stuff on eBay, it's miles cheaper than anywhere else for the stuff i want I got my Warwick Fortress this year for £250, also had one of these for the stupid price of £40: [url="http://www.elonex.com/products/webbook_windows.shtm"]http://www.elonex.com/products/webbook_windows.shtm[/url] There's always going to be idiots in every walk of life, i quite like digging up bargains but there's a hell of a lot of cr@p to trawl through. Same as a car boot i guess

    Have you tried adding another Aggie 112 cab? Would be much easier to transport than one heavy cab and paired with a good head could be all you ever need

    I have a mate who spent over £200 on a set of earphones, only to get them trapped in a taxi door on a drunken night out. Cue 25 minutes of them bouncing off the road at 30mph, they were well and truly broken afterwards!

    The MEC units are good, i'd try both a 3 band and a 2 band before buying though, i would prefer to have a mid control on my Warwicks I prefer the Aguilap OP3 in my Zoot to any other pre i've heard, if i was fitting a circuit to a passive bass that would be my first choice. It's got a great mid-range which i really like.     Another +1 for making your own.
