1. I gig a Schroeder 1212r and a LMII, you'll have absolutely no problems with volume! As said, there is an angled speaker so you can stick it on the floor (on it's side) and still hear it. I used a stand a couple of times and found it sapped bass, i use an Auralex Gramma pad now so i get the bass back but no wolf notes/excess floor rumble Also bear in mind you can pick up a LMII for around £400 on here 2nd hand, that coupled with the Schroeder also for sale would give you a killer compact rig for under £700. The Hartke stuff is great, i used Hartke for years and owned 3 diferent rigs (still have a little combo). The LMII has more clout than my old Hartke heads though, FTR i used a HA3000 and a HA5500. There was a couple of the LH500 heads or around £200 on here recently too?
2. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=79721 This /\ /\ /\ Cheap, light, small and very loud
3. obbm is a member here who makes and distributes excellent quality leads for great prices. No marketing BS or fancy descriptions, just top quality leads. Here's his site: http://www.bassic.co.uk/ I replaced my failing Planet Waves leads with a couple of obbm leads and they are much better, cost about the same too.
4. Not all Staggs have those problems though. The finish on mine is perfect, not a single blemish. The pre is silent on mine too. The first one i got had to go back though, the neck was on at a wonky angle causing the E string to be too close to the edge of the fingerboard. It appears the Staggs have more quality control issues as well as a few idiosynchratic little faults which can be easily sorted. Didn't someone on here do a guide to modding a Stagg a while ago, including fixing the rattling endpin?
5. Could be the baffle board or a panel coming loose, try getting someone to play through it (on the offending notes) and push different sided of the cab. This happened to me on my old Hartke cab, the rear panel was vibrating against a vertical panel of wood. Screwed it down and it was fine.
6.
I'm a novice at this and getting on. How do I find him? Thanks
Here's his profile: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showuser=70 Just send him a message! Usually just click members at the top-right of the screen and you can sarch the name
7.
I'd like to ammend that statement and announce I found the problem. Battery is flat, I had no idea it was an active bass!
Early active Shine basses were often shipped with standard jacks, meaning they sap battery power even when they're unplugged. The first Shine 6er i got had this problem, £15 for a local tech. Check yours for this, i paid for mine to be replaced with a switching jack. The price you pay for completey automated bass building! I think everything but the finishing was automated, even the fretwork!
8. Take em both to a decent shop or luthier and have them fixed/set up. If money is tight then just do one, no point in having 2 basses you're not happy with! If the pre is gone in the shine it might be worth picking up a used one on here and dropping that in rather than spending money on fixing a sub-par one. Here's a top class Bartolini unit for £50 (bargain!): http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=79370
9. David Nimrod was after one of these, give him a shout!
10.
Hi Kurca I had them in black fitted to my Geddy Lee Jazz, and those were as good as the Genuine Fender ones -- Very good value for the money.
Yep, +1 I have these on my fretless, cost around £26 delivered and are great quality, on par with more expensive units. Look the nuts too. As said, watch for the size of the base plates. I just about squeezed these onto a Mighty Mite neck, they were much bigger than my other machineheads
11. What's the rear panel like on the cab? If you didn't want to compromise the resale value you could make up a different rear panel with 2 Speakons, keeping the other one in case you need to rewire and sell it. That's what i'd do, cheapskate that i am! That's the problem with Superflys, by the time you get full power out of the amp it's no longer a light and compact rig! I use mine with a little 4ohm 1x10 cab (soon to be joined by another) and it's loud enough. I hated the amp when i first got it but i'm actually liking it now, has been ultra-reliable since i took the outer casing off Other options would be to look at a sensitive 4ohm cab, there's a Schroeder 1212l for £300 in the FS section, that'll do the trick. You could always look at the LG1000, they can be had for £219 from soundslive. You'll probably get £100 to £120 for the Superfly
12. Bought a nice speaker off Andy, he posted it next day and it arrived safe and sound Ta!
13. If you only have one 8ohm speaker then you'll be getting 160w. Each output can give a maximum of 250w @ 4ohms and 160w @ 8ohms. Although they are a bit underpowered i think adding another cab would be the best option. Some people drive the preamp section as it's known to be a bit weak
14. We have a QSC RMX2450 power amp for sale, haven't been able to get access to it yet as it's locked away in storage but will be able to get it out to test and photograph next week Should be more than you'll ever need, there's tons of power in these! Looking for £370
15. That's possibly the greatest thing i have ever seen!
16. I was given this a while ago with some laptop spares i bought. AFAIK it's working (it came off a knackered motherboard), i have no PC to test it with as i only deal with and use laptops It's an Nvidia FX5500 by Inno3D, it is 8x (although i think also 4x compatible) and has 256mb RAM. It has the following written on the sticker: Inno3D FX5500-8X W/256mb CRT DVI PC AGP Might be useful for someone with a slightly older system looking to play a few games or something Free to good home!
17. There's a US Fender (2008) for £550 ono in the for sale section: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=79003 Price includes shipping, that's a bargain
18. What colour were you after, also what make of bass and how many screw holes? I have a white Jazz 'plate complete with white pickup covers for sale, think i'd be after £7 posted for the pair. It's off my Aria STB
19.
Having played both, I'd go for the Stagg. One of my pupils has one & it really nails the EUB sound, especially at the price point. Red is seriously cool, too.
+1 A Stagg with some foam wedged underneath the strings can do a great DB impression, i disagree with the colour choice though, i thought it looked horrible in red. Black all the way! They come up for around £220 - £270 2nd hand too
20. Anyone remember a little known Scottish band called Ganger? They had 2 bassists i think
21.
It's the special version with the disappearing B-string
Like a banjo where the machinehead sticks out the neck?
22. +1 to all the above. I've been guilty of more than my fair share of howlers, some on quite high profile gigs. One of my worst gigs was at a private party for the Nolan sisters, i was mixing it big with such luminaries as Alvin Stardust and the fat one from Blue Dropped about 4 absolute clangers, the rest of the band noticed and as there were quite a few musicians in the audience they noticed too, felt like a right tw@t. Maybe a quick call to the bandleader with a quiet apology would show them you're being professional and can admit when you've made mistakes? It's not about the mistakes you make, rather how you deal with them. I'll never forget going to see the Chili Peppers at Manchester and seeing Flea drop in a couple of bum notes, scuffed a few as well. Happens to all of us!
23. Hartke have a little 1x12 300w cab, switchable between 8 and 4ohms: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry734126 Ibanez also have the Promethean cabs and combos: http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_p110c_promethean.htm 4ohm and 500w, should be ok with a LMII
24. Squier do a Frank Bello sig too, although it's got a big dirty skull on it
