1. I have 2 EB Jr's 25k and 250k both are excellent but the 250k has the smoother taper even with active basses. Cheers
2. So anyone tried the HBP-1 from Demeter?
3. Literally, pfft it is brand new, you've never used it you only like playing quietly
4.
What preamps have you got lying around these days, want to loan me any I'll return them I promise *ninja*
Same question @ Owen Thanks Obbm, if I end up getting a Demeter preamp I'll be intouch for an XLR that doesn't let it get fried by phantom.
5. Having owned 2 Tokai thunderbirds, they are by far better quality than the Epiphone ones especially if you can find one that is neck through.

7.
that would depend on what impedance cab you are running it through
I didn't think the wattage changed on tube amps depending on impedance, I know it certainly doesn't halve like solid state amps do.
8. There is no way on earth the 400+ is only putting out 180w As for filling it with KT88's essentially all your saying is buy a new amp.
9. Possibly interested in these, would like to see prices WEM Copicat ( analogue ) DYNACORD SUPER 62 ( Valve Tape delay ) or the best preamp in the world ( probably ) Selmer TnB 50RV 79 Selmer CORVETTE 8 watts of beauty with the creamiset tremolo ever 60 s and beautiful IMPACT 60 Handwired ALL Valve HEAD ( valvey goodness of the highest order ) Mid 60 s Cheers
10. The one closest to the power/standby switches apparently But the more I research into it, with it being a lower gain all it's doing is giving you the same 400+ sound but neutering the amp so what I get at Master vol 3 I would then get at like 6-7 so I have more usable clean tones inbetween, but I have my volume at 3+ for a reason. Hmmm no so sure about this
11. Must not look directly at it *RUNS AWAY*
12. Wanted to bump this as I'm looking for a pre I want to move from my Mesa 400+ to a pre and 2 Mesa Strategy power amps I've aquired. I think the Aguilar is too expensive for me, but I wouldn't mind trying it to find out, if any of you guys want to try these beautiful pres through some tube power amps Also Gremlin did you get rid of the F-1X now?
13. I'm trying to get a picture with an arrow As I don't know either....... yet
14.
Sorry to differ but the Trace is the same as the Alembic F1X and BBE BMAX-T. F2B is different design.
F-2B is a dual F1X isn't it with a few less switches, like a more basic but dual version?
15. But so is the Mesa, it's so odd same idea built by different people, totally different functionallity. TBH it might be the power section of the Trace I didn't like, I wouldn't mind trying the V-Type pre into a Strategy or 2, if someone has one for me to try. I'd be interested to try the ISP one you use you got it from some company near Manchester right?
16. I didn't really like my Trace V6, I found the eq less useful than the Mesa
17.
I went with an 12AT7 because I wanted a Mullard (from reviews on Finnbass) and that seemed the best mix of availability, price, quality and reduced gain level. Go with what you think is right - what works for my ears may not for you
Yeah I'm going to borrow some from my tech and then buy like a £30 military spec one when I decide on the type.
18. I have 6
19. Damn will have to work it the other way round and ask him what he thinks, that's the second time an AT has been recommended over the AU
20.
I've done the 8x10 either side thing, its not ideal. Best way is 4x10 bottom, 8x10 on its side on top, then vertical 8x10 on top of that.
21.
that would look sweet. i'm contemplating a matamp rig after i get my shuker
Just steal Monz's while your in Sheffield getting the Shuker *Hides*
22. Incase you don't see it http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=61273

24.
Are you saying racks can't have 200 blue LEDs too?
They can but it's not as cool
25. Yeah the idea crossed my mind, but 2 Strategies would actually be able to run 4 8x10's and my 400+ another 2 In the rack currently is the 400+ and Strategy 400 until I sort out how I'm powering stuff, as I said in another thread going to try a different tube in the 400+ drive section and see if that gives it more headroom and calms the slave down, then I'll likely sell the other Strategy. Else plan is decent preamp such as the Alembic F-2B into 2 Strategies using various wire combinations to power either each side of one strategy or the 2 strategies together, lots of options. I'm sure Matamp will sort the tube preamp, it's an after thought at the moment while they work on their hybrid head and I'm the only person to ask about a preamp so far, so I hope when they sit down and design it they realise it has to be 1u-2u otherwise its a waste of time. I was thinking my rig would look best with 14u shock mounted rack with 4x10 ontop of it and an 8x10 each side
