Anagram after I’ve been tone matching against my pedalboard. Its a very samey same video but that’s the point. I’m either using the Leo Bass or the Noble block then I’ve replicated a lot of how I was running my Darkglass Element. My alternative for the Cream Pie is a nam of the origin DCX which isn’t quite doing it. It’s a lovely tone but different. The harmonic boost is probably closer. I have a million ways to arrive at the same thumpy mud now. I’ve not quite nailed the Subdecay Noise Theory but I’m going to just try and capture it instead of replicating it, but at the same time what I have is easily giggable. There is a depth to the punchline I’m not sure I’ve copied yet but again, likely just going to capture it and the new entropia is really really nice.

I had a play with it today and it has a tubey preset/example that I’m loving. Never paid much attention to the multiband distortion outside of the tech21 psa as I thought it was just for those Dingwall playing prog and metal bassists. But there are some nice lightly gritty tones in there. Also some that sound weird af with how rolled of my treble is 😂

Yeah, took Neural 5 years to convert something they already owned/created/had to get it out on the QC Darkglass did it (probably not totally) from scratch in 5 months (at least from release) I think it’s a very exciting time to be a bass player

That’s where mine are at with the output pushed above half way. But I don’t feel I’ve mastered the in and out gain of this. I found I must have dropped the volume of one block (massively) recently and then compensated with the mixer on the output. Also sorry not trying to teach you to suck eggs on the cab sim, just we often add all the things we think we need and then start listening to how it sounds. I started off with my eq curve, a preamp, my preferred ir and what was working on my pedalboard was too much on the Anagram. I’m always trying to get what I feel is the perfect cab sim is, where you clean signal sounds the same regardless of it, but fuzz’s sound perfect. I’m back in Istanbul now with my big board and the anagram so can finally a/b stuff, do some captures, tone match with what’s already available and finally balance all my levels against a solid reference point. Anyway, blah blah, I’ve a better form opinion of this by the end of the week.

Well that’s essentially what the cab sims do generally, a high cut. I’d just remove that from your chain, you don’t need it and it generally wouldn’t be something I’d be including for anything but my in ear mix.

Sounds awesome as ever. I’m loving my Anagram, so much better than the QC, just need a bit of time with all the other pedals to see if it will replace absolutely everything.

I ended up playing mine for over 3 hours last night. I have one issue that wouldn’t affect me live when playing along with a bt track and switching fx, the track kinda stutters and goes out of time and then catches backup. Outside of that I love it. There is very little in the way of crazy fx but the core tones (eq, gain/drive, amp and compression) are killer, the octavers are unreal and it’s just a joy to play with and programme. I’ve tried a few nams, Ivan’s 66 B15 is great, there are a bunch of Avalon (737) and Neve captures that do a great job of just polishing the tone. Its everything I wanted the QC to be with none of the downsides. I have no noise from usb c or its original power supply, it’s just great. Very very impressed, looking forward to capturing my more esoteric gear the next few weeks.

@Russ and @JohnR did you both order yours from Guitar Guitar? I’m probably making a bigger deal that I should but it’s annoyed me they’ve sent out units without fulfilling the preorders. I have an email from them saying sorry if you saw them for sale on the website but we’ve not received our order yet, it should arrive on the 8th. Would love to send them your order numbers to call them out on this if either of you are willing to DM me this info? Again a wholly pointless exercise and I’m glad you both have them, just a little frustrating as I’ve been waiting weeks to order one and will have waited 3 weeks from paying for one when I could have just had one next day several days ago.

I had the same issue with my QC but no alternative way of powering without buying a Sol or DC7, which with the size just made me meh about it all. Anagram I’ll largely power off usb c or if it goes on a board a dc7 since I have one now. And for those thinking it’s a double standard against my issues with the qc well the anagram will fit on a nano with 2 pedals whereas the qc pretty much fills a metro16.

Are you using the supplied power supply? Try running it on USB C

Not a fair comparison once you get a few anagrams int he second hand market it’ll be a £500 difference. Its basically a £700 new difference and really you have to upgrade the power supply to a Cioks DC7 or you get the grounding issues I had which made me send my QC back in a few days. If you can stand the footprint and you have some amazing pedals that you just have to capture without a computer involved then sure. But you can do the capture process using the Anagram you just need a computer attached. My final point on this is, capturing is really overrated, you’ll do it a bit and then you’ll realise most of it is already available for you in the cloud, or you just did it a few times several months ago. I’m annoyed now I preordered mine the other week and don’t have it, don’t even have a shipping notification.
