  1. +1 For what Danny said. I have a Tech 21 VT Bass DI and a Tech 21 VT Bass DI Deluxe and both offer a full range of an over driven Tube amp, lush, warm and as driven as you could wish for.
  2. Thank you Tech21NYC for the clarification, sounds as if you've covered all my needs. Really looking forward to trying out one of these. Please keep us updated about UK supply dates.
  3. As part of your research please consider adding the DiMarzio Split P Pup to your list. It's very powerful with a huge range of tones. When coupled with a KiOgon loom and a suitably selcted tone cap ( John at KiOgon can help with the best value) you can tailor your bass sound to your needs.
  4. +1 for tha assumption that the 'subsonic filter' means a HPF. Clearly a 12 ins cab needs a HPF to control the speaker 'over exerting'?
  5. @Tech21NYC Does the preamp have HPF built-in? If so what is the frequency? The combo seems to be a very nice , convenient solution to many bassist who maybe going down the FRFR route but want more bass guitar focused small unit.
  6. +1 for the Thumpinator. Having read thread after thread from the legendary Dynamic Cab Duo Phil & Stevie I became more aware of the theory behind the effectiveness of HPF. At the time I was using Fender Rumble 500 head into one or two Basschat mk1 cabs. The HPF Thumpinator had a marked impact on the performance of my rig, tightening and cleaning up the bottom end without any loss of low end bass. If your amp does not have an HPF on board the I would recommend using /getting one.
  7. Parcel Force are quoting Express 48 £10.50 Express 24 £ 15 I would plan to drop off Monday morning at the local Post office. Cheers John
  8. Pm replied. Postage estimate to follow tomorrow.
  9. I bought this NON Fender Jazz neck off Ebay for a planned Duck Dunn tribute BitsaBass, which never got off the ground so I am now moving this neck on. The neck has a vintage satin finish with a Fender P Bass decal, custom shop decal on the rear and a Duck Dunn signature. The decals have been over-sprayed with what appears to be a poly satin finish. Very slim 21 fret neck with virtually no fret wear. 38.5mm nut width and 63.5mm heel width. The neck will be shipped in the Fender carton & packaging I recieved my genuine MIM Fender Jazz neck that replaced this neck. Postage at buyers cost. Thanks for looking
  10. I would be interested in a Rumble Stage 800 head. Coupled to my Barefaced Super Compact it may offer a simpler setup than my pedal board +Mesa Subway D800 for the function band I'm in. The preset switching on offer through the single footswitch may satisfy my needs. Let's hope the head is at a reasonable price point.
  11. Lovely bass, Great colour. Yes it is the early 9v Kubicki preamp, I've got the same bass in a natural Ash body with rosewood neck. Very versatile bass, wide range of tones and with the advantage of an active/passive switch if the battery ever dies on you. GLWTS
  12. As I live in sunny West Wales I'm sure a quick 40 mile drag down the M4 junction 49 thro 30 will create a much more aggessive ( rocklike) Road Worn finish. Welsh TARMAC adds so much more vibe! It's the coal dust effect. GLWTS
  13. These are very versatile basses. I have a maple neck American Deluxe P bass and the range of tones on tap are enormous. No issues with battery life as it uses the 9v preamp. GLWTS
  14. Hi Mike I'm really pleased that you discovered the same gratification I enjoyed pairing my Mesa Subway D800 with the Barefaced Super Compact. I tend to cut the high Mids at 11:00 and add some Bass at 1:00 or 2:00. I use one SC for pubs and two SCs for bigger gigs. Absolute massive sound with huge flexibility with the voicing control knob anywhere from 8:00 to 3:00. Enjoy!
  15. Wow, that sounds bad. Business must be tough if they are closing manufacturing plants. Perhaps they see the future as simply 'branding' products shipped from lower cost manufacturing centres. Really sad if we lose the Gibson brand and heritage :-(
  16. Hi All, Saw on Facebook this morning something about Gibson USA in financial trouble. Has anybody got any REAL information?
  17. Great amp, very flexible, provides a huge range of sounds. Great price consideing that current imported price. GLWTS
  18. +1 for the Barefaced Super Compact 1x12 great cab and will produce any sound you want, very neutral. I use a Mesa Subway D800 as my main amp but before acquiring the Mesa I used a Fender Rumble 500 head, both good amps but the Mesa D800 has real H**t ( oops). Two Super Compacts sound HUGE.
  19. Hi Tom, It would be great if you did a 'Build thread' Really interested in the source of necks. Great looking basses. Well done!
  20. Stewmac .com sell pre cut wooden neck shims at a range of angles from 0.5 to 2.0 degrees. Here http://www.stewmac.com/SiteSearch/?search=neck shims for bass&facet=%7cBRAND%3aSTEWMAC
  21. That looks absolutely handsome! Mean, loud, gutsy, and oodles of heft! Well that's how it looks! Hope it sounds like that. ENJOY
  22. I would what the monitor mix is like!
  23. There is a very wide range of tones on offer with the D800/Super Compact setup. The gain allows you the freedom to have a very clean sound right thro to warm distortion. The voice control varies the type of amp sounds available coupled with the built-in HPF you can achieve your own tailored sweetspot.
