  1. Great basses these, I think we all know that. This one's not had much use at all, it's a bit heavy for me at 4.00kg (8lb 13oz). Collection from sunny Skipton or happy to drive 45 mins to meet. Or meet on my once a week trip to Chesterfield.
  2. In my quest for a lightweight bass I recently acquired this beauty . . . . . . but despite the obvious uptick in quality compared to my usual Squier fayre I just haven't got on with it. So I'm letting it go again for the, I think, very reasonable sum of £500, on condition that . . . . . . you can come and collect from sunny Skipton or I'm happy to drive 45 minutes in any direction from Skipton to meet you or I can drop it off if you live on the route of my weekly trip from Skipton to Chesterfield. A few details. Well it's a nice colour, has chrome hardware (I'm not a gold fan), it's in very good condition and it weighs just over 3.5kg which is just under 7lbs 12oz. It still has all four of its "F" knob covers and you can read the writing on the pups. There is one small mark to the rear of the neck, pictured, which is behind the 11th fret on the high side. It really is not much though. New battery just fitted btw.
  3. I'll spare the superlatives, suffice to say these basses punch well above their weight. Unfortunately for me, that weight, 4.17 kg (9lb 3oz), is too much for my aged frame! Hence this sale and my post in "Items Wanted" for something lighter. Previous owner has swapped out the gold anodised pickguard for a black one and "upgraded" the tuners to Wilkinson's. Happy to drive a 45 minute radius from Skipton to meet up.

  5. Beautiful bass. It's practically as new, even though I'm the second owner. I got from a guy who'd bought it but hardly used it. He misstated the weight to me so I've barely touched it either. That said it weighs in at a reasonable (for most others I hope!) 4.00 kg on my digital scales. I'd much prefer collection from Sunny Skipton or within a 45 minutes drive thereof. However I will post if absolutely needs be. I'm sure the specs are online so I'll not reproduce them here. Any other questions though please shout.
  6. Think I'd be up sh*t creek with that rather than without it!
  7. Delighted with my purchase, concluded amiably and swiftly. Also an absolute pleasure to chat to someone who does my hobby for real! Thank you very much.
  8. Happen it was the RSPCA rather than the PC Brigade that swung into action to ban it then!
  9. Seems to be, Andertons have one in stock . . . https://www.andertons.co.uk/fender-flea-signature-active-jazz-bass-satin-shell-pink-0192602728?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj6b6v-Gj8AIV0NvVCh08AgK7EAQYASABEgJFUPD_BwE
  10. Happy recipient of another flawlessly executed transaction, thank you very much.
  11. It still technically belongs to me. But it's on commission sale at the Bass Gallery. Though in the 18 months they've had it they've never got round to listing it on their website. Or the Fender I took them around the same time. I was going to go and retrieve them but with the situation over the last year and all that. Anyway you could contact them if you like and see if they can do anything for you.
  12. +1 on liking the look of it. Watching the video the seller refers to, the pickguard is optional. Without it the pickups get chrome rings. So the routing is explained if not excused!
  13. That is awesome. Can't wait for the video.
  14. She's back https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lynne-The-Knackered-Bass/392953948857?hash=item5b7de16ab9:g:HTUAAOSwU~9fZheL
  15. Keith Christmas - Forest and the shore . . . . . . nearly 50 years old and every word rings true today. He's still going strong as well. Good on 'im!
  16. Another if anyone is looking . . . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Cowpoke-Precision-Bass-Special-Black-1995/133263588547?hash=item1f0720fcc3:g:jT0AAOSwiS9d6lkD . . . has "weird and wonderful" in the description!
  17. Very, very nice. Light weight too if the 3.9 kg is to be believed. Some dings to bottom edge. Is it 2006 or 2014? And not sure why the vendor has described it as an Aerodyne - I normally associate those with a slabby body and P/J pickup configuration?
  18. Passed me by, but checks out. Quick Google of "Blackpoole Relic Works" comes up with some interesting results. Particularly the open letter on the Seymour Duncan site. Looks like he struggled to meet any kind of demand. So this would be a somewhat rare completed one.
  19. Excellent strap just received, exactly as described and completely smooth and trouble free transaction. Thank you.
  20. I really do have no idea I’m afraid. I can’t see anything obviously amiss. It could just be high frets. It is otherwise a great bass and I’m enjoying playing it again. Just anyone wanting a low action all the way up the bottom strings may be disappointed.
  21. Thank you. It is still for sale. It has been on a bit of an adventure though! I had sold it on the well known auction site. I'd used it for band practice beforehand, had it set up nicely and was confident of its quality in all aspects. The new owner quickly informed me that he had fret buzz on A and E and wanted to return it. When I got it back I set it up to spec again and there was indeed some buzz on the E. So I've raised the action a tad higher on that string than I would ideally like. And I've used it for 2 more practices. It's still a fantastic bass but I don't know what to do now. I can't really charge full asking now I know there's something not perfect about it. If you are interested do please make me an offer. I'll even post it this time if needs be.
  22. Back up starting bid £1400 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warwick-Dolphin-Pro-1-5-String-Bass/202690286029?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20190212142712%26meid%3D37277d7d3f00409ea231844f574e3b28%26pid%3D100037%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D202689141122%26itm%3D202690286029&_trksid=p2047675.c100037.m2107 Interesting info about the pink panther theme bass line.
  23. There is another book, Fender Bass for Britain . . . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Bass-for-Britain-The-History-of-the-1966-Slab-Bodied-Precision-Bass/382933872967?epid=1319999442&hash=item5928a33147:g:UIQAAOSw4uhczP2A . . . and, reading reviews of the latter on Amazon, maybe some “issues” between the two authors? Looks like there’s a story there as interesting as the one about the bass itself!
