  1. If you're not going to use the skinny, non-doom string, why have it there at all? Doom is all about the low stuff, no? 😉 I used a 5 string for the Withered Fist stuff (shameless plug alert: http://witheredfist.bandcamp.com ) which was tuned to dropped A IIRC, AEADG, but for the new stuff I'm now using a 35" 4 string Yamaha TRB tuned AEAD, strung with D'Addario XLs, .145, .107, .80, .60 which just feels nicer in hand than a 5 string. I can't recall using the G string of the 5er at all, if I'm honest. There's nothing wrong with using a 5, if that's what you're into, but many prefer the feel of a 4 and I am one of them. If the G string is only going to be there for show, personally, I'd rather it was somewhere else other than in my hand. In a similar sense, all the guitar is 6 string tuned AEADF#B with a set of .14-.68 baritone strings, rather than a 7 string, too.
  2. Arctic Monkeys? Who else?
  3. If there's nothing wrong with the Squier, keep the money. You don't need to upgrade things just because you can and the adverts pressure you into thinking you should.
  4. He has always been 100% ego, that's what's so much fun about him. He's absolutely compulsive about he does and will usually choose the path which means alienation and commercial suicide if he believes it's the right thing to do. He can be incredibly frustrating but also great craic to follow 😁 As an aside, good to see Beato highlighting Jimmy Chamberlin there. Unreal drummer.
  5. Nah, Corgan has spent his life purposely antagonising people who like his music 😂
  6. A roasted maple neck I ordered from Warmoth in 2021 is going to arrive in 2022. I'll need to buy some more bits to finish off that project. I'm already out before the year has started
  7. STP were lumped in with the grunge bands but I never thought they were really a part of it. Sort of like cousins of grunge, guilty by association or more likely there was no other "scene" to put them in with. Core ftw, though.
  8. I'll look for a bigger winking emoji 😁
  9. They didn't make it red though. Perhaps the AI knows it wasn't sprayed red by Arbiter? 😉
  10. It's a Robin, made in Texas.
  11. Prong - Prove You Wrong Cynic - Focus Atheist - Unquestionable Presence Watchtower - Control And Resistance Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients
  12. Every one I've tried suggests red too
  13. Have a go yourself https://colorize.digital/
  14. We don't stop until we have 2025 threads about this announcement. Deal?
  15. I thought explicitly soliciting for trades wasn't allowed in the marketplace? The items wanted section is fairly clear on the "no trades" aspect. I was thinking there was room for a forum exclusively for trades : "have one of these - want one of those" as people have alluded to in the linked thread. Say what you want, say what you have in return, no?
  16. Right-angled jack = Fixed.
  17. I'm watching DVD #2 of The Old Grey Whistle Test box set. Just gone from Blondie to Meatloaf via Val Doonican
  18. Easy. It's the same colour has his custom jacket.
  19. I hope that's not a euphemism.
  20. Shaking imaginary hair is never a good look, just like air guitar.
  21. It's not so daft when you've seen bald lads try to headbang 😄
  22. It is very old but told each time as if the teller was Oscar Wilde reborn. If I may offer perspective on this one, having been vegetarian for almost 30 years - dare I say, before it was cool - and knowing quite a lot of vegans, I find vegans tend to have to speak up when they're innocently offered (or asked about why they won't have) milk in their tea, butter on their toast, cheese on their bread, milk chocolate on their digestives, etc, any of the animal products they choose not to consume which are a mundane part of everyday life. Then they're castigated (not to their face, of course) for telling everyone they're vegan in the stereotypical way and we all have a laugh at them for vegan signalling, having usually been forced into speaking up or asked about it in the first place. For the meat eaters, just FYI they're making jokes about you in the same way when you're boring the tits off people insisting on telling then about your barbecue, how you slow roast your lamb shanks, your overnight marinades and how they don't know what they're missing (hint, many of them do and moved on). Sneaky vegans are everywhere, conspiring against you. Now, could someone tell me again how great their last rare steak was, it has been so long since someone insisted on telling me. Oh wow, I've just veggie-signalled. Ooops!
  23. Just finishing my second run-through. Paul has just spotted the coppers behind him on the roof and turns around with the most mischievous and joyous grin. Knowing the jig is up, they barrel straight into Get Back as Don't Let Me Down ends. Class. Yeah, it's tedious at times, but that's the story. It wasn't just "Tell me what you want me to play and I'll play it" -> Roof. It probably helps that rural living affords me the opportunity to watch it all at close to concert volume 😂
  24. They're aiming to have a vegan singer, no?
