Basslab Standard VI - my wish to track it down
Hellzero replied to Chris2112's topic in Bass Guitars
Superb bass, I own a BassLab too: -

13 hours ago, @Chris2112 said: "There are some genuine white TRB's in the wild, as there were two generations of Tetsuo Sakurai models. However, on the most basic level they can be identified by his signature on the headstock." It's a different bass, different pickups, different preamp, even if the basis is a TRB-6P, and it's called a TRB-S. The TRB-S was quite close, but not exactly the same bass. The TRB-SII was a bolt-on iteration and the only one available in white.

It's been refinished for sure as: 1. It's not an official TRB-6P (P stands for Piezo) colour as all colours were see through. 2. It's more than obvious as the Yamaha logo is not the correct one. 3. It's missing the TRB-6P logo on the ebony plated headstock. 4. It's missing the serial number at the back of the headstock. 5. Here are some photos of one of mine with official Yamaha catalogues extracts.

Hard to tell without any photo as it could be anything from an old Japanese brand to a cheap Korean bass, or a full assembly...

Mono Cases Vertigo M80-VEB brand new, only used to store a bass at home. NO TRADES! PRICE NON-NEGOTIABLE! Asking price, fully insured delivery with tracking number, to your home, for the following European countries (for other countries, please contact us): Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France (excluding French overseas territories), Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom: €180 (£160 GBP is an approximation and I will only accept payment in Euros)! Shipping to the UK is of course possible and included in my asking price, but with additional customs charges (VAT + other taxes + courier costs), as the UK is now outside the EU, just ask. Due to the fact that I don't play bass anymore, I'm selling all the stuff I'm not using like this one. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale as, new, it would cost you 30% more than my asking price… Don't hesitate to ask for more details, but, please, before asking read my ad first as the answer is certainly already in it! There is this EBS Session 120 in the ads here for £100 and the seller is "willing" to send it. You can't go wrong with this combo:

Last year, I was looking for the righty version of yours, these SBMM fretless Stingrays don't show up very often. There's already an excellent aftermarket pickup there: Should you need a preamp, I have six (yes 6) 2EQ to build with all the components including Radio knobs and the metal plate, everything you need, in fact.
-
Indeed. 😉

I really like both. The way the tenor banjo is played makes me forget it's a ... banjo and it sounds like it was written for him, great interpretation, congratulations. The guitar version is really lovely too, very wooly and woody sounding with great articulation and these Aquila strings are very even, congratulations again!

Thanks for that Rob, I'll listen to these suites when I can have an hour of free time as I really love them. I think I have something like 12 different recordings of these... My all time favourite is the Anner Bylsma version and I quite loathe the first version of Jean-Guihen Queyras complete cello suites recording.
-
Can't really remember, but Jonas Hellborg wanted more headroom than the 18 Volts preamp, so IIRC, it's a full blast 36 Volts, not a distributed power.
-
Just for fun, the Status Jonas Hellborg had a 36 Volts preamp... And you received a lifetime Duracell subscription with it. 🤪🤦🏻

You are right, it's indeed Passion Dance from Mc Coy Tyner. I played your partition on the piano, but it didn't ring a bell, certainly because I couldn't get the feeling. But now here's what I hear and I hear an F as the first note, not a D, sorry for the writing, but it's not the most important thing to me as I use it as a reminder only...
