  2. Thanks for your comments Douglas. That said, I can't find any resemblance with my melody, yours being closer to the French national hymn in fact, when mine is closer to Words by The Christians, without being a plagiarism. 😉 I noticed the above resemblance when playing my tune, but the melody was so obsessive in my head that I had to play and record it. The tone of the fretless is quite close in both melodies (yours and mine) and the breathing (I wouldn't say rhythm as I try to forget it) are quite close, but not the same at all. Thanks to you I have the title of the album: Loneliness boredom of mere solitude. 😂 My approach is to show the fretless as it is, quite raw, for sure, but mere solitude is quite spot on, and I like it. That said as all the tunes will be without any overdubs, the balance will come from the flow of the music within these tunes. And you're not harsh, but honest, which is different and I appreciate it.
  3. Hi mates, Here's the link to Bandcamp where you can find the first track for an album dedicated to fretless bass only : https://tonybertrand.bandcamp.com/track/i-wish-i-was-swiss I hope it will be finished early next year... or sooner, who knows. I love ambience and repetitive loops for music and fretless bass is the only way to achieve my goal. Thanks for your comments, they will be more than appreciated.

  7. For those asking themselves how a stainless steel fingerboard sounds, it's really between Brazilian rosewood and ebony. This was recorded with my own Le Fay Remington Steele 6 RHT CC CAP Big Block, one take, passive mode, 2/3 of bridge pickup in parallel, tone closed at 70%, slight reverb and Elixir nickel plated strings. I Wish I Was Swiss.wav

  9. Due to the Covid-19 situation and severe back problems (67% officially disabled because of it) plus right shoulder injury (non-operable capsulitis from which, after more than 3 years, I will never fully recover), I'm selling all my basses over 4 kilos and also the ones I'm not really using as well as some stuff I don't use. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. 2012 Fender Jazz Bass Jaco Pastorius Tribute Relic (fretless, of course) ! ABSOLUTELY NO TRADES ! NON NEGOTIABLE PRICE ! Asking price including shipping fully insured with tracking number to your place in these European countries (ask for other countries) : Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (excluding French overseas departments and territories), Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden : €1550 Euros (£1375 GBP is an approximation and I will only accept payment in Euros) !!! New price is around €3000 Euros, if you can find one... !!! Shipping to United Kingdom is, of course, possible, but with an extra customs fee (VAT + other taxes + courier fee), because U.K. is now outside EEC. In fully working condition and in very good overall condition even if it's been reliced to look like the Custom Shop model. Here are the specifications : Body : select alder Neck : C shape one piece maple (nitrocellulose lacquer) Fingerboard : epoxied Pau Ferro Fretless : 20 postions with side dots and front dots Headstock : 4 in line Pickups : 2 Fender American vintage single coil Jazz Bass Controls : volume, volume, tone Tuners : Fender American Vintage reverse open-gear bass Bridge : Fender 4-saddle American vintage bass Strings spacing at bridge : 20 mm Nut : synthetic bone Strings spacing at nut : 9.5 mm Knobs : Fender knurled flat-top Scale : 34 inches Hardware colour : nickel/chrome Truss rod : one single action vintage-style butt adjust Finish : 3-colour Sunburst (nitrocellulose lacquer) Land of craftsmanship : U.S.A. Non-smoking environment as usual. I'm only selling this bass because I'm thinning down the herd for the reasons mentioned above, and I also own a second Jaco fretless... 🤦‍♂️ The bass has been fully set up professionally. It is fitted with a broken in set of Rotosound RS66LD stainless steel strings (45 - 65 - 80 - 105) that really serve the bass (think Jaco). The bass has been professionally reliced and distressed long ago. What you see is what you get ! Look at the photos taken under different angles to see the real condition, which is used and reliced. 10. So, all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.
  11. If the B***** thing hadn't come in, I would have bought it back as it's simply one of the best lightweight combo on battery on the market. Looks like somebody is going to have it. 🙂👍
  12. You are not going against the grain at all @biro as the EMG's (especially the X series) are indeed terrific sounding on a fretless, but for something different from the usual mwah and/or Jaco tone most of us are after.
  13. Of course, if you want a "humbucking" pickups set, there are the Fender Noiseless Jazz Bass pickups that are stacked humbuckers with AlNiCo 2 magnets (they are quite close to single coils without their typical bite) : https://www.fender.com/en-GB/accessories/pickups/vintage-noiseless-jazz-bass-pickups/0992102000.html Avoid the Fender Gen 4 Noiseless Jazz Bass pickups that are really not as good sounding as the ones above.
  14. Now, it should play @Linus27. 😉
  15. Here's something recorded with the Fender Original (Vintage 62) Jazz Bass pickups (after the intro on a fretted bass). Thema Duo.wav The bass is this one : https://baldman-guitar-relics.blogspot.com/2022/05/202204-vibe-king-body-in-heavy-relicd.html
  16. Try some AlNiCo 2 pickups, that's what, after close to 4 decades of fretless playing, I found was suiting Jazz Basses the best, corresponding to the tone you're after. But these are not the most common pickups... Here are the ones I know (and almost everything available) : Fender Original Jazz Bass pickups (the closest to the original Jaco tone as it's what you really hear on most of his records, my favourite pickups for the early singing and articulate Jaco tone and more) : https://www.fender.com/en-GB/parts/jazz-bass-parts/original-jazz-bass-pickups/0992123000.html Seymour Duncan Antiquity Jazz Bass pickups (a bit too shy for me) : https://www.seymourduncan.com/single-product/antiquity-jazz-bass Q Pickups Jazz Bass Pickups A2 Aged Relic (slightly overwound with slightly thicker wire : I like these for the extra punch and output, more reminiscent of the latter Jaco tone) : https://reverb.com/item/13613918-jazz-bass-pickups-a2-aged-relic-hand-wound-alnico-2-bridge-neck-fender-by-q-pickups Aero Jazz Bass Type 3 pickups (too dark sounding for me) : https://www.aeroinstrument.com/pickups.html Northern Pickups Vintage Jazz Bass pickups (never tried them, but giving their price and your location, maybe worth trying them) : https://www.northernpickups.co.uk/jazz-bass
  17. Very nice pair, @DaPhonque ! 👌👍🍾
  18. Indeed, but also remember that Christophe Leduc is a graduated architect, so finding solutions to a problem is something he is accustomed too. 😉
  19. Superb ! Simplicity at its best makes this bass even more beautiful !
