  1. I made the switch in my main covers band about 2 years ago, mainly due to complaints from other band members about general on stage volume. I agree Chris, it's a total revelation when you get your mix right. We also use a Behringer X mixer, but ours is the X-18. I agree totally on that too, it's a fabulous bit of kit for not a massive amount of money.
  2. I wonder if my Mrs will notice that we don't get a new Front Door & windows and I buy this instead?!
  3. No GAS right now Marc, spending on home improvements has put pay to that for a while. Just curious, as we've see Precisions with Jazz necks a lot, it's not usual to see them the other way round..... Same here BB, not a fan of the A neck either! I feel OK on a B or C though, and like the Jazz sound.....
  4. Fender 'A' neck - 1.5in nut - Standard for Jazz Bass Fender 'B' neck - 1.625in nut - Standard for modern Precision Fender 'C' neck - 1.75in nut. - Found on re-issue / certain sig model Precisions So, we know that there have been Precisions made by Fender (certainly in the 60's/70's anyway) which came fitted with Factory 'A' necks. My question is, has anyone ever had a Jazz Bass fitted with a Factory B/C neck? (Don't include the 80's Japan Jazz Bass special, that was essentialy a hot rod Precision!) I've certainly never heard of one......
  5. Same here! It really is screaming for some new Bass stuff now isn't it? Really should have a good sansamp clone on it for a start!
  6. Ah well that's good to know, I know the few I had all had the oversized pole pieces, that's what led me to beleive they all did!! Live and learn! Cheers Dan!
  7. Might dip in and out, it's also Download highlights on Sky Arts from 9pm too...probably be recording that anyway...
  8. I've had 3 of these over the years, they are great Basses, and this is one of the cleanest I've ever seen!! Just one thing, are you sure the Split P pickup is original? Could just be the camera angle, but as far as I remember, the pole pieces were oversized (much like they are on SD QP's), you can see this on the Jazz pup, but they look more 'normal' size on the P Pickup... Lush Bass either way! GLWTS!
  9. That is a sweet little setup! 😍
  10. I don't know the answer, but you could check that easily with a multi-meter.
  11. They do it to prove it's legit, folks won't spend thousands without the proof... I also think it's highly unlikely that there are ANY vintage Fenders in existence today, that have never been taken apart... YMMV!
  12. I always try and be polite to requestors, lord knows I'd never do it to a band, but I think it's OK from the general populous. Sometimes you get lucky and you do actually know the song! My caveat with it though is that they wait until you've finished the song your currently playing. Nothing bugs me more on a gig than some p1ssed up punter/puntress trying to shout in your ear when you're mid-song, 'Tell you what mate/love, how about I come down to where you work on Monday and shout in your ear while your working?'
  13. All true of my situation too, also a nice bunch of blokes who enjoy their gigs and don't take themselves too seriously.
  14. Recently started helping out a with mate's band, doing 3 or 4 gigs a month for them, and I'm really enjoying it. Good mix of mostly 80's pop rock, but definitely not your usual pub band fayre.
  15. Saw one of these in PMT Cardiff and have to admit it caught my eye too. Good score!
  16. You must have a time machine! Seriously, WOW 😲
  17. Mega (and I mean MEGA) expensive but the BAE 1073 is apparently incredible. http://www.baeaudio.com/products/1073dmp
  18. Couldn't give a hairy arsed pissing silly billy of a flying flip.
  19. Stunning Bass and some rather tasty playing too! GLWTS! Wish I didn't have home improvements to do....
  20. Shared this on the Facebook Yamaha Attitude page. Hope you dont mind @bigsmokebass..
  21. Was at a local pub gig some time last year, got talking to the bass player. "Nice Stingray", says I. "Have a go", says he. OMG, I swear the action was about a half an inch off the fretboard. I said, "Mate, you're working much harder than you need to be", "I like it like that" he said, "I like to feel it's fighting me back!" We're a strange bunch..
  22. Had Loads over the years, and I mean LOADS. Currently I have: 1978 Precision - bought in 2006 America Elite Precision 2009 Roadworn Precision: Squier Classic Vibe Precision: Bitsa PJ (now has a gold anodised guard):
