is that the guy who sold out Brixton Academy while unsigned?

in the last 5 piece i was in the bass wasn't really noticeable until it wasn't there. Then it became obvious something vital was missing.

Are there debates about integrity for orchestral players, who play the material as accurately as possible? Maybe period-instrument orchestras are looked down on as being the 'tributes' of the orchestral world? Re. tribute bands, as a punter I want to be entertained and have a good night. Some tribute bands do, some don't. I once saw a Coldplay tribute (not my choice) and the best reaction they got was during the encore when they played 'I believe in a thing called love' AFAIA the tribute band started in Australia, when due to the original acts not touring there, people made their own entertainment.

I have seen children with communication/learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities who may never be proficient at playing an instrument, but the unbridled joy they get from creating sound and being able to express themselves greatly enhances their well-being and development.

I'm coming to play! will bring my custom Shuker and possibly my Hamer Blitz or Iceni Zoot. Can I ask for/suggest a set up master class? The idea being someone stands at the front and goes through a set up, and we all work on our own basses following the hints and tips. If as many people as possible try to bring their own tools, then lending to the odd person shouldn't be a problem. Will there be the space to do this (an empty classroom?) and is there anyone who wants to lead the class?

i've played for a few college productions, never in a pit though always somewhere in the rafters. Good fun, but [i]lots [/i]of waiting around during rehearsals.

a couple of decades ago I turned down a place at Leeds College of Music, purely because their qualification was a graduate diploma and I wanted a 'proper' degree. Things have probably changed. The guys I knew from from LCM back in the day knew their stuff and could play.

my custom Shuker. It has all the features I wanted from other basses all on the one bass, and it has pink LED's that flash

All of them. I only sold because I had to, if I could have kept them and had the space I would.

i had a porta bass rig about 5 years ago. Loved it, totally gave the Ampeg sound. Only problem for me was that for rehearsals I had to put the head through a 4 x 10 to compete with loud metal guitars.

That's not really what I'm saying Jake Just adding to the debate is all. The question is 'Is technique that important?'. Well for what? Playing the bass - no. Playing the bass with an increased technical ability - yes. To acheive success as a bass player - not necessarily. To avoid possible injury and negative long term health effects - definitely.
