Immaculate condition, this one could be considered as "New Old Stock" really. Comes in a gig bag (it’s a bass gig bag so is a bit big for the guitar but it’s included). Has term arm. Was professionally set up last year, could do with some new strings but plays great. These are circa £500 new! This was bought second hand a few years back but I really have no idea why I bought it, sticking to bass for the near future. Cash on collection or paypal please, buyers are welcome to view in sandhurst (GU47 8** - although I only have a bass amp to try it with. I don't have the packaging for this so can't ship at the moment.

Edit - Sold pending payment. Edit - £110 inc UK postage Comes with original box and instruction leaflet. I prefer the sound of a different fuzz pedal and have just bought the amazing darkglass compressor so this is surplus to requirements. Good condition, a few little marks and has Velcro on the base. I found this works best with a really high volume signal feeding into it, I used a sans amp bass vt before it and it sounded better to my ears. Collection from sandhurst or I can post for another £7 to uk addresses. Cash on collection or Paypal.

Edit - Price reduced to £220 delivered in the UK or £210 collected. Now surplus to requirements thanks to a new Aguilar rig. This was brought from bassgear about 3 years ago and used probably about 20 times since. Great, extremely versatile sound. I love the VT circuit and I continue to use the VT pre-amp pedal on my board. 500 Watts @4 ohms. Eminently tweak-able tone with loads of variation, especially when you use the character, drive and blend controls. Good condition bar one scrape on the front right corner (see pic no5.). Otherwise everything works as expected! No box or manual. Easy to download from the tech 21 website. Collection preferred from sandhurst. I have it packaged ready to ship if required. £240 collected and £250 inc UK shipping. Paypal or cash on collection.

Replacing a saddle falls into a standard acoustic setup for most luthiers. It’s a cost of up to £50-60 inc parts although I imagine this varies due to complications/ region etc. Ive found that trying to discuss setup issues with any seller really difficult when trying to ascertain the playability of an instrument. It’s all so subjective down to the players expectations and playing style. I’ve never bought anything described as playing well that didn’t arrive requiring some amount of tweaking that would fall into the broad category of a setup. Depending on how much you paid for it this might be one you have to swallow up. I think I would in the circumstances unless it requires any more serious tech work. Id see it as a minor investment into the potential enjoyment of owning the guitar. A luthier might well be able to make it play better than it ever did for any of its previous owners!

Mononeon’s instagram Is really worth a follow, he’s certainly committed to his playing and his image!

I’m no expert but I can think of a few things from my own experience. They had some hardware problems including a terrible nut design that kept snapping off, these are easily replaced with the latest one though. Their hardware seems to tarnish really fast compared to other brands as well. For a while they changed the neck profile to a proper baseball bat, this got reverted back to a thinner style a few years later. Ive seen a few with warped and properly delaminated necks, I couldn’t say for sure if this was down to a particular time period or if it’s just luck of the draw.

I’m reading this trying to settle a teething baby! It’s really hard to find the time around parenting and work commitments to pick up the bass and open a book. Sometimes this doesn’t happen for me until after midnight. It’s a pain but I’m really glad every time I do manage to find the energy and headspace to do it. It’s not going to be like this forever!

Ive got one of these, it’s great for low gain crunch, I keep my amp slightly fuzzy as the main sound all the time. I still use a few different fuzzes/overdrives for different textures. It’s a really versatile head and not crazy money.

It’s either a problem with your instrument cable, your bass, or your amp. You need to work out which part has the fault. I would try the following: 1. The cable could be broken. Try a different cable to connect your bass to your amp. The cable is the most likely cause for this, especially after you have tried to change the battery already. 2. Try your setup in a different location. Maybe there is a problem with the electrical circuit where you practice. Something like a fridge or a boiler on the same circuit can cause a problem. 3. Can you get another bass and plug it into your amp? If it works then you have a problem with the bass. 4. Try your bass and cable though a different amp. If it works then you know the amp has a problem.

+1. I learnt to read using this guide as well. Really broad range of examples with more focus on rhythms than reading pitches. I’ll dig out my copy and work through it!

Mustang Bass - MIJ Vs. JMJ - Do they sound different?
jonno1981 replied to Tim Chapple's topic in Bass Guitars
You could ping the main man himself, he has his own section on talkbass. https://www.talkbass.com/forums/ask-justin-meldal-johnsen.194/ A wider question around the differences in his signature to the production models already in the market would likely get you a response. -
I think I’m going more down the route of a tks cab now. After a bit more research I think I’d like to go for a 12” option like the s2126 cab. It’s in the ballpark cost of 2 of the pjbs and I have no doubt it would be loud enough for my needs.

Same. I work in an open office, even all the meeting rooms have glass walls so there’s no real privacy anywhere. I’d really like to keep a bass somewhere and disappear into a meeting room for a bit, however it just wouldn’t work. I can see that scene from the office every time I think about it. “Get the guitar” etc.

I wonder if I’m better off with a c8 rather than 2 c4’s. Any tonal difference between 1 big cab against two equal sized smaller cabs?
-
sifi - Thank you for your thoughts on this. I think the six pack was one of the heaviest combos on the market when it was in production. The newer stuff is much lighter. The 9b is showing on their site as being 34kg alone, and the six pack 37kg. I certainly wouldn't consider hauling that kind of weight around. The 2 C4 cabs together are 26kg combined. Ultimately I'd like to have a really big, solid rig but I just don't want it taking up the space in the house when I'd hardly ever take full advantage of it.
-
Really helpful replies thank you. A questionmark for me now is just how many drivers would I need to compete with a drummer. Are two c4 cabs really sufficient or should I consider a c4 and a to c8 to cover more scenarios. I guess i should commit to a c4 and see how I get on with it in a rehearsal and go from there.

I'm in the early stages of weighing up options to replace a schroeder 410l that I've just moved on. The schroeder was a great cab for it's footprint and offered a shed load of volume and oooomph, but as circumstances have changed and I'm rarely gigging it was too big and unsuitable for my everyday practice needs. So I'm considering a modular rig, multiples of 1 x 12s or similar cabs, ideally something I could buy a single cab for the time being for practice and add another later down the line when I'm gigging more regularly again. I know I'm going to struggle to get anywhere near the power of a 4x10 but I think I can live with something with less power. One option that keeps coming around is the PJB range, however I don't think I've ever seen / heard anyone in a rock sounding band ever use them. I've been eyeing up a pair of C4 cabs as a replacement rig as they seem to be roughly a 1x12 equivalent. Current plan is to keep my VT500 and use that as I really like the VT pre circuit to add some warmth, I also use a lot of fuzz for some stuff. Has anyone on the forum have any experience of using these in a rock band with a reasonably hard hitting drummer? Am I looking at completely the wrong stuff? I'm open to suggestions, maybe even a swap to a high power combo rather than a head/cab combination.
