1.
Perchance? http://www.ebay.co.u...=item20f1bae882
ha! Exactly the environment you expect to see a T-bird. Colin Brittas working his way through Maggie May in a Travellodge
 2. Could you post a few more close up photos?
 3.
From 12 years ago: http://www.pinkfloyd...d-bassist.2238/
Interesting to see that. Wonder if RW wrote the lines but couldn't execute them. You do notice that live, he often doesn't play the fills and incidentals..
 4.
It would be interesting to know who started out with a focus on creativity and original material, however at some point it turned into a $$$$ hustle. Neither are bad. This thread is not really for the, " I have a job, I don't need the money" guys, however please chime in with your 2 bobs worth. "Whenever I'm on stage playing bass, it's me and whatever I play is going to have an element of creativity"
Don't many people continue to do both? Play other peoples music and get paid, but also write their own stuff (for love not money). Creativity is subjective, but I associate it with original material and / or improvisation. Playing straight covers is hugely enjoyable for lots of reasons, but it's not especially 'creative'. That said, I'm one of your 'I have a job' guys, so take from that what you will.
 5.
Fixed it for you.
Yeah unfortunately that's more like it
 6.
Love the way he describes the TeleStrat hybrid "I have put together from all Fender parts. Ok the body is not original Fender " and then lists all the main remaining parts as Squier.
'..you be hard pressed to find anything remotely like it.' He's not wrong. Interesting with Ebay - you can say any old cr*p, and lots of it, and some poor soul will believe it. See it all the time with 'ultra rare' records for sale..
 7. Maybe I've a weaker moral compass, but over zealous trademark lawyers, or a high retail mark-up doesn't turn me off a brand. Very pro small companies like OBBM (and will go to there next now I know about them), but if you also use Apple, Nike, Fender, Ford, whatever, there's always something less than wholesome going on behind the scenes somewhere. Life's too short.
 8.
If you do a search you'll find that Monster have some very questionable business practices. Personally I'd never buy one of their products.
@BigRed - I'm intrigued, (and can't find anything searching). How are they bad?
 9.
It's a masterclass in economy and it he shifts things along wonderfully.
+1 to this. We've just put Young Lust in our set, really economical but works brilliantly, grooves whole track along and great fun to play.
 10. Been using Monster cables, love them, and yet to take them up the lifetime guarantee. However, in the spirit of keeping things local, will be giving OBBM / rockwire a go.
 11. 3 heroes share a stage together for a Primus encore. Inevitably these things are never quite the sum of their parts, but fantastic to see Stanley on one of Les' basses going for it. Primus will always hold a special place in my heart, they were the band I chose to see at Reading '92 instead of Nirvana. No regrets. 12. I think it was Mark King that said 'a good drummer can make an average band sound good, but a bad drummer will make a good band sound average'. We all thrive on locking in with a good drummer wingman, staying in the band all depends on how much you want the paycheque.
 13. Great to hear it. Been struggling for a while to find plugs that actually work. Have ordered some ER20s, will be roadtesting at rehearsal next week.
 14.
For someone with no OT at all I still think the comp I posted before is a great start point; http://www.amazon.co...8&condition=new 23 tracks for less than £7, delivered from UK?
Personally I'd avoid that. It's not from the band itself, just a label cash in. Their albums work best as a whole, taking the tracks out of context doesn't do them justice. Best starting point is Erpland, Pungent, or Strangeitude. However, any Ozrics is better than none, so whatever works for you. (Amazed people still buy CDs anyway!)
 15.
I never got to see Roly Wynne play live as he had stopped gigging by the time I got into them, so I've been going through loads of YouTube vids of the band to check out his playing style but drawn a blank. Has anyone here got a link to a decent vid where you can see him playing? Not really sure even of what he looked like other than his eleven year old image that is immortalised on his father's famous "boy riding dolphin" sculpture by Chelsea bridge (which I have driven past many times without realising it was him until yesterday!) Roly has been a big influence on many great bassists, not least Stuart Zender for one. Anyone?
Will have a look as well. I saw him play many times, but never really appreciated him properly live - at that time Ozric gigs were more about trying to see straight. Also their gigs never achieved the clarity they manage on record. If you're interested in Roly, you might already be aware of the great facebook tribute site, 'boy on a dolphin' - partly curated by his sister (the current Ozrics bassist), and input from his daughter. Lots of personal pics and stories on there, it's a great site. (I recently left FB so can't send the exact link, but this should get you there >> https://www.facebook...67?stream_ref=5 )
 16.
I won't detail my thoughts on that article, as this chap nails every single point for me: http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/how_not_to_spend_150000_on_a_28_day_touran_op_ed_by_the_artery_foundations Ludicrous!
+1
 17.
throwing out more candy here for this thread!!! (with one non-Wal)
A Wal for every day of the week, staggering
 18. Half pints for guitarists, typical. P-bass ones would be a proper pot
 19. I love that you play bass in your car. I've been debating a travel bass for the train..
 20. Crying shame the big fence had to go up. Glastonbury was such a diverse festival crowd, the music was just a sideshow. Now its like applying for a green card just to qualify for permission to be able to attempt to be one of the 20% that gets a ticket. Means only the most organised people end up going. Who wants to go to a party full of really organised people?
 21. Ah Lionel is alright, got a soft spot for him. Given they've had Mumford & Sons headline, that really was end of days
 22. Their previous - Roly Wynn was a fantastic bassist, adore his lines on Pungent Effulgent. @bubinga - if you haven't already, check Ayurvedic
 23. Better tone than the original. It's opened my eyes to the bass on that track, didn't really ever credit with Extreme being anything more than Nuno's looks, and Bill & Teds. Now to track down more of the brilliantly named Pat Badger..
 24. Ah - fair play for replying ! I take it all back. .
