1. If your gonna cover a song make it your own , fantastic arrangement this compared to Dion's version Donald at his best http://youtu.be/G187v1HEjqs
2. Just watched this Before Chic was formed , but its already there, the rhythm section that would go on to dominate the dance floor , Niles , Bernard and Tony. Why the hell you would even attempt to pull off an Earth Wind and Fire track with just two guitars and a bass is beyond me , but as you can see there on it !!! Enjoy http://youtu.be/An2OZSaY8To
3. Just seen this great shame . Bobby Womack , great voice , great writer, bloody legend !
4. Not sure about the leather skirt , but Nick seems to be laying it down nicely here on a Stingray !
5.
I think you need to watch this...
He's gonna struggle doing that live all on his own , I mean he's definitely gonna need a bigger set up than Leo Sayer !!!
6. Meet my new hero Dave !!! Dont get the wrong idea about this guy , he does know what he is doing , I just think he sometimes loses the will to live with some of the repairs he has to do , bloody hilarious !!! Check out some of the China ebay repais and fretless conversions ! http://youtu.be/GdhCeD9R5qM
7. Were down at the Golden Cross Sutton St Nicholas tonight if your at a loose end ! The Funkatronic Love Commandos
8.
Musicians! I wanna upgrade to a better computer, my main interest is to have something to record/produce/logic etc etc. Is really Mac the best choice or is there something else that's as good and cheaper on the market? Cheers! =)
Aside from and before any mac/pc debate , can you please , please do some homework on what interface you are going to use , read the interfaces user forums , and troubleshooting guides , driver updates and operating system compatability , and keep all of this in regard when making a decision , and also your own ability ie . learner / experienced user . Both mac & pc systems will work equally well if you take into account all of the above ! I am currently using Mac and Logic 9 works great no problems, although if I want to use Logic X in the future I will have to upgrade to Mountain Lion which my mac may not run. Before Mac I had a pc system running Cubase , I had problems because of certain chipsets conflicting with my sound card , if I had done a bit of research before hand I may have saved myself some grief , once i had the relevant information and changed the conflicting part the PC system worked perfectly fine . So as I say do your homework first , and select equipment that first works well together , and second also how quick , and consistent the equipment manufacturers are with fixes and updates so that you maximise the longevity of your system with regards to capital outlay !
9.
Not with you, old chap, please explain.
Sorry mate ! Only saying that as much as the question “ How can they afford us ? ”Is true , equally a similar question applies to bands “ How can we afford to play for this ?” Time, fuel cost of kit etc Now I know most of us do it for fun , to play or whatever , Was just asking with your knowledge is their a business model that we as bands should all follow to enable decent pay or is it the failing of pubs not to correctly see the need and allow for the costing of decent paid entertainment to allow there business to flourish
10. " I manage the finances of businesses for a living, have done for far too long. I understand business models and cashflow, and what happens when they go wrong." With that knowledge can you please explain how bands go out for this much money , what sort of business model should we have that possibly makes any sense !
11. The swap over to an off the shelf signature model starts at about 44.56 , give him a plank with one string and I think he'd get a good tune out of it ! http://youtu.be/8TiDShnnoJs
12. Yep master songwriter , player and everything else ,even computer paint programmes. Loved watching this : http://youtu.be/eMSBIoehD70 showing the admiration for Todds writing , and the complex arrangements even had the Daryl's house band scratcthing there heads at times ! Also he says on this vid that when he originally recorded it he did it all live no overdubs so that when he was singing, the song is the song performed , no mean feat with all the breakdowns etc , hell of a song if you ask me !
13.
I've just been playing around with the demos of that VRM box and I'm just watching a video or two. Sounds convincing but is it truly useful or just a toy/marketing ploy?
Well not sure about a marketing ploy / toy ! I think they have probably seen a gap in the market , and I would imagine you would need to study any headphone graphs to find one with the most flat response , but from there on I would imagine it could become invaluable in finding holes in your mix. The only thing i can see is whether many people would know how some of the speakers genuinely sound , and adjust accordingly , NS 10's yes maybe , but then perhaps thats the point !
14. Haven't got one myself , but looks interestingly useful ! http://uk.focusrite.com/vrm
15.
Anyone griping about the current cost of Logic should bear in mind that when it first came out IIRC it cost around £400, and it was just a MIDI sequencer program. You needed a MIDI interface plus actual hardware synths and samplers to do anything with it. When it acquired the ability to record audio (around version 3) it was a £300 or so add on, and the first virtual instruments for Logic 4 had to be purchased separately at around £100 each! In order to do anything meaningful with audio recording you had to have a dedicated audio hard drive attached via a fast SCSI card. Upgrades to the latest version were £200-£300 a time and generally involved swapping the copy protection dongle which meant that you could be without a usable application for about a week. By comparison £140 for a fully featured DAW application with bundled plugins and software instruments is a complete bargain.
Ahh !!! Those were the days C-Lab Notator and an Atari !!! Still reckon that was the tightess thing i ever played too !
16. Thought it was a thundering bass sound when I listening on headphones ! Don't think he needed to do a Bernard this is the new Chic Corporation after all . Shows how much Niles contributes , you got to have him up in the mix he just sits on the subtle groove , anyway great band, great songs played stunningly well !
17. Don't know whether to applaud them or wheel them into the nearest nursing home ! Think Kenny Rodgers is doing a better job at the moment representing the old fart brigade at Glasto at the moment ! Do get slightly peeved at The Stones constant craving for money , there not stupid they'll release a live dvd with Glasto & Hyde Park and make a fortune. Did make me laugh when I read that Mick had been fitness training for the gig , and had 3 facials before going on, Keith had however done nothing except make sure that all his lighters were full ! Perhaps this is how they get the name "The greatest rock n roll band " its a funny old world !
18. Anyone for a bit of Chuck Brown http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOVgf1eNG-g
19. Was that bass solo , or 4 bass solo? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ3XksTJeA8&list=PL762F2C98F9394D51 Totally mad , but I think Enormous Room is beautiful , and haven't a clue how he remembers all the tunings on it ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY4Ra2KOyas

21. NEEDS MORE VOCODER !!! (cowbell) Well I think a gold star needs to go to there manager / marketing department for creating such media frenzy ! As for the album well
22. Here's a very talented young man playing everything , a great cover version !!! Looks like a Yamaha bass but the sound is synth or a combination of the two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6NDY8FSr9M
23.
I just read this article http://theeccentricb...illage.html?m=1 If it's true then they won't be getting any custom from me in the future
I think this guy is right on the money , have just spoke to a friend of mine who said that its all over facebook and twitter , seems that this outfit may have just screwed themselves in the music biz , nobody is gonna buy off this type of outfit !
