1.
I'm beginning to hear the reasons people like them. But I'm not likely to have the dosh any decade soon. So, if I want that sound, what;s the best way to do it? Any info/recommendatrions received with interest. Thanks
Throw a bag of tin cans down some concrete stairs and add ominous overtones of legal action ?
 2.
Go and find old Chic records and learn these... You won't be able to do it with out using a good two finger technique. It will take a lot of time. Practice drumming with two all the time. Do it when driving on the steering wheel etc etc..
I do this, drives my better half mad

 6. I'm hoping it will settle with tuning I don't want to spend a fortune as it's likely a flash in the pan - if she sticks at it we will get her something better
 7. Went to pmt in brum and bought a linden 3/4 classical as it had a fairly narrow board, sadly they only had blue Won't stay in tune - new strings needed perhaps

 10.
Before buying a Alesis SR16 I used to use Wikiloops - free and you get to choose which instruments play on the track. User friendly too.
Not the easiest to program in my humble opinion
 11. Intending to go to pmt Nottingham when it opens but thanks for the other insights
 12. When my ex-teenager was an eleven year old, he and his chum confidently asserted that beat matching as a dj was "harder than playing a guitar well" They talk utter rubbish (most of the time) I wouldn't worry too much. Some will find the righteous path of bass
 13. Sure - she's not a sticker at tricky things so what "really works well" is more important than cosmetics
 14.
Is this still available?
Yes inderd
 15.
My suggestion would be to get a folk-style guitar - these are full scale but with a smaller body. Fender do a basic one at around the £100 mark : http://www.pmtonline.co.uk/fender-cf-60-folk-acoustic-guitar-natural Andy
That's an interesting thought, thanks It's got to be easy to play
