  1. PVA - aka wood glue with a credit card or gift card to smooth
  2. I’ve got some 80grit to clean it off quickly and some fine
  3. okay well that was a touch optimistic. Every time you look at the body, you spot more flaws, and you just know paint won't hide them. I've learned some things: 1. when you look over the body, use a soft pencil to draw inside the full extent of the flaw. You're going to grain fill it and then sand it anyway so the pencil marks will not stay 2. Use a phone torch or somesuch at a perpendicular angle to spot flaws more easily, even in daylight 3. Wiping white spirit on with a tissue raises the grain and so its easier to sand smooth then.
  4. I bought some humbucking jazz pickups from him many moons ago; therecwere some teething problems with fit but they sounded huge

  11. Ok I do know it’s been a while ive finished grain filling finally and I’m sanding off the residue one trick I’ve learned is to wipe white spirit over to show the grain and highlight spots that need more filler or sanding. Monday is final sanding and sanding sealer

  13. There’s Lots of links in the transcription section
  14. can you fix some kind of wood bar to the existing holes over the pickup and have it extend backwards ? You could paint it to suit Or just strap your hand to the bass in position and use it as an excuse to never put the bass down again ever
  15. It was good enough for duck dunn in the blues brother's movies. He had a thumb rest fitted further back.
  16. No not yet if you look at violins they have foam bridge muted that you can possibly adapt
  17. I play whatever style comes my way - finger style only i use a p bass and a zoom b2.1 set to ampeg svt, with full fat cab flavouring. The comp is set to fairly subtle - I tried turning it off and the whole thing didn’t sound quite as smooth, throbby, focused so I leave it on. Never heard a bad word yet about my sound ** ** I’m probably deaf ...
  18. I’m NOT a metal fan but I liked this a lot more than I thought I would
  19. I’m seriously thinking of my bursting my own eardrums just so I don’t have to hear it again. If Peter kay did that as a routine we would all say it was too much

  23. knowing a host as I do, he told me it was really hard to balance people. I didn't really believe him but I think I understand it better now @nightsun He managed to fit me in with the house guitarist and it turnred into a regular spot that we did. It was seamless but I see why now.
