  1. I've bought basses of eBay. Valuable ones I've collected if within 100 miles or so and paid cash after testing (hadn't occurred to me to check that the TR is working or not - useful advice). I had a problem with one bass off eBay where the truss rod was broken (bought delivered, not collected) and simply returned it and got my money back - simples. Buy from sellers with 100% feedback and where the listing has been done with some thought with decent photos. Ask plenty of questions and ask for extra photos - a genuine seller won't mind this.
  2. Agreed. I have my eye on one of their short-scale semi acoustic jobs if one comes up at a reasonable cost
  3. Me too. I buy business guru books and never read them - they make a nice pile by the bed to stand my morning cuppa on I've just ordered the Fingerboard Harmony Gary Willis book.....the pile gets higher
  4. A mention for Bass Collection basses. I have one of their P bass style power basses which cost me £95 used. The new ones are around £350 - £500 and good value at that.
  5. ...and better than me....by several streets
  6. Great playing.....loved the 'Shadows' style moves
  7. Mate of mine has the new Dylan album and waxes lyrical about it. He's also a massive Tom Waits fan (my mate, not BD)
  8. We sort of have a gig on the 11th July but it's not live as we are being recorded (20 mins set) for broadcast on July 25th for Notts Pride. Not quite the same as a live gig, but it's close. It will certainly be the grandest venue we've played in
  9. John Paul Jones played his early 60s Jazz for most of his time in Zep
  10. B*blocks, rumbled again
  11. Yep, played in a Blues band where that was pretty much the schtick. 'What do you want on this one Stevie?' 'Just BOMP on the root note Phil'
  12. F*ck that's me rumbled
  13. We're booked for a charity gig on 1st August - the organiser is telling us it's going ahead. It's a big venue so maybe it will?
  14. Buckin ell, phenomenal!
  15. Agreed If you haven't already, check out Joanne Shaw Taylor https://www.joanneshawtaylor.com/
  16. Sh*t, forgot Mick Ronson. Although you can add keyboards, violin and music production to his credits. Good job I'm not in a Bowie Tribute band.....oh hang on
  17. I've played a Shaker, excellent bass and very light.
  18. SRV for me, then there's Jeff Beck, Joe Walsh and of course Jimi H. Peter Green was no slouch either
  19. This The standard of musicianship is exemplary and there's some very interesting fretless bass work I've got 3 of her albums....lovinit

  21. Hopefully before 3rd October this year as we're booked to play the Dublin Castle in Camden on that date. For a little Bowie Tribute band from Nottingham it's quite a big deal to play a gig in 'Nodnol'
