1. Cheers guys The PG is going to take some thought to get it looking balanced and not stupid, but I love those sort of design challenges.
 2. Blimey, I won this Squier VM Jaguar HB at the Bass Bash! Totes f***ing amazerballs. Throwoff and Paul Geary and Dave Swift presented it to me. Here's a picture .. Or two .. Thanks Fran and Silvia Now, it's got a big ol sound because it's 3-band active and has a mini Stingray sort of humbucker pickup. It's an amazing bass for its level, excellent fret job and very smooth, lovely finish on the nicely figured rosewood. However, I'm not enamoured of the pale satin neck, I like glossy old style necks with a vintage tint. The neck is lovely and shallow though, not unlike my 1983 USA Jazz and not far off a Geddy Lee sig. The sound is big, and I've had a thought that I'd like to make it my ZULU BASS, for playing them big dubby Africa-Electro lines with London Zulu. I have ordered a new neck, a black and gold Wilkinson bridge, some Hipshot black lollipop tuners (they look totally wickid in black; childish in chrome; positively paedo in gold - probably why I can't find any ), I will get off-white Strat knobs, spray the pup cover off white, and get this sh*t - I am going to get a pickguard made in brushed gold with black detail that morphs from the Jag PG at the neck end into the Lion of Judah eating the pickup. I'll have to draw it and send it to Uncle Horrid, hopefully he can cut the shape. Can't wait to get this done for a London Zulu gig at the end of November The neck .. The tuners .. The bridge .. The BASS LION
 3. Boards of Canada. It sounds like Clement Freud doing the Magic Roundabout theme. f***ing depressing.
 4.
I'm still working my way through my 500+ photos. Here's one of the incredibly hard-working Mrs Hamster, Sarah:
That's a lovely photo too, Sarah's an absolute gem.
 5.
And this is one of mine:
I was a bit gobsmacked, lovely photo, thanks Silvia

 7. What a splendid day As always it's great putting faces to names, and hanging out with a big ol bunch of really lovely people. Had a great time in the jam room, really enjoyed Dave Swift and Paul Geary's talk, playing OBBM's 1970s Fenders, nice to meet Kiwi at last. Thanks so much to Hamster and Mrs Hamster, Nik, and everyone else involved in setting up the Bash, top work! I'm amazed to have won the Fender Squier VM Jag HB !! I had just bought some tickets before the raffle was held, and Timmo got the first ticket, he had the Orange amp cos he's a lefty, then Green 461 was called, I thought my tickets looked blue so I didn't react, then when no-one claimed it they called "NIGEL!" I was looking around for another Nigel while the people behind me were laughing because they could see my winning ticket in my hand It was finally pointed out to me I'd won and I received my amazing prize from Dave Swift and Paul Geary and Throwoff. Thanks so much to Throwoff for asking Fender UK to donate the prize. It's a lovely bass! I have to write and record one more bass line for an album by one of the artists I work with and I'm going to use the Jag, it's a dubby sort of line and the Jag has a massive tone thanks to the active circuit, so it should sound great! Once again, thank you!
 8.
I have never expressed this view upon seeing any bass player play because I fully believe that with the right amount of dedication, persistence and hard work, anyone can play anything that anyone else can play. I hear and read the phrase a lot though. If this is a realistic acknowledgement of lack of time, pressures of everyday life, etc. I understand. However, if it's due to a perceived lack of talent, or the idea that it would be impossible for one to reach a particular standard, I say that's rubbish.
Yes but really, you are only talking about operating the machine, the musical decisions and what makes the musician an individual are what's important. Of course you can learn to play everything Pino did, but to really be like Pino, you have a journey of self-discovery to make so you can be YOU and not Pino. It's fairly straightforward to learn play like someone else, to learn to play like yourself is the really hard part.
 9. Pick is awesome, I almost always play finger, but for almost anything other than dub or reggae I use a pick when recording - better attack, better muting, great rich tone depending on the type of pick. I started doing some thumbstyle too, even better for dub tones. But yeah, I hate the finger fascists - pick, thumb, fingers, chopsticks, whatever gets what's in your head onto tape or out the PA, that's what you've got to do.
 10.
But only if you play in venues with good PA systems, or you take your own. But real PA amps and cabs are a pain in the.... see above!
11. It has a couple of small marks but it's in great condition otherwise. Comes with a bunch of spare saddles and grubs and stuff that Hipshot sent me. It's heavy, solid as a rock, works beautifully with three-way adjustment. £45 Posted.
 12. Line6 POD X3 LIVE. Because real amps and cabs are a pain in the arse (heavy, expensive, limited sounds), and because I can get almost any sound I want from the POD, loads of amp, cab and mic sims in a tiny box
 13.
Couldn't disagree less
And me, it looks thoroughly delicious as it is. Those lollipops make a bass look like a kid's toy aswell. Although dot and bound is the sexiest neck of them all.
 14.
I saw one in the UK acouple of weeks back, pushing a grand. Get this one bought you tart
Nah, I'm convinced I wouldn't like it as much as my 83 Jazz. And, no money

 18. Nothing comes naturally to me, it's all hard bloody work, a bit easier now, but it's still hard work getting what's in my head to come out a speaker in the way I want it to.
 19. Entirely reasonable. I'd even be fine with a shop doing that. Some people are very impatient, although I have never come across this on BC or the bay with my own transactions. Annoying though it is, ignore them, and if they leave crap feedback for you post a rebuttal.
 20. Oh god I'd love this! Sexy as f*** and it's even got gash
 21. Ouch. The band we supported the other night had a bassist with no amp, just a bunch of pedals going into passive a DI box. Had a Fender P with two sets of P pickups. His sound was HUGE.
 22.
He`d have got two Warwicks?
23.
Let's find out, do you have a string vest I can borrow?
24.
Oh, and if you get it right make sure you post your own YouTube video! That girl's video was spotted by Jamiroquai and they flew her out to meet the band and play with them live on stage during their tour. Also Stuart Zender recently gave her one of his Warwick signature basses for free!
And do you think they'd have done the same if it was an ugly geezer in a string vest in the vid?
