Custom (Fender style) Headstock Decals - Where please?
xilddx replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
When applying the decal, be careful as the Rothko ones are very thin, so they can tear easily. When theyre on the headstock, they may look a bit wrinkly, but thst disappears as the water evaporates. To seal the decal in place, apply very light mist coats over it once its dried out. If you apply too much lacquer / finish, the decal will wrinkle up again. be careful, and take your time, and you'll end up with a fantastic lookjng headstock mate.
That's brilliant advice mate, thank you! -
I'm just posting for comic effect, that and me being a right chancer. Flog it to someone who wants it and recover your outlay. But you might want to consider a split with the Bass Bash charadee, then everyone's a winner!
There we are then, that's what I shall do! Cheers man
just as an aside, you look b*gger all like your avatar :/
Yeah I know, that's me dad on his wedding day in 1963, me mum is a water vole. Here she is, she doesn't like it because she says it looks too posed, but it's my favourite of her ..
Well, listen if you get pangs of moral what-not with the left over bits, you are welcome to give them to me in a 'liberal, non-judgmental, community, were all in this together' type way.
How about I give you the neck with tuners in return for a contribution to the Bass Bash nominated charity? If you want the neck, that is.
Those blocks are just sooo right with that body shape. Great result on the win BTW, nice one.
Thank you
Subscribed. What you doing the the 'ridginal neck?
I'm keeping everything until I know I have a bass worthy of Doreen's music and memory, then I'll sell the neck and tuners to cover some of the cost. Feel a bit weird doing that, as if it's not in the spirit of the Bash raffle prize and the kindness of Throwoff and Fender UK, but the bass is still essentially a tricked up Squier Jag, that's what people will be hearing, so I don't feel too bad mate.

I reckon I can make this work, needs some tweaking and thought ..

The neck is pretty good actually. Canadian maple and nicely figured rosewood. A couple of very minor finishing issues, but generally it's very good, the gloss finish is very smooth, but it's the colour of an Essex perma-tan, it really is mmmentally orange, but I'd planned to refinish the headstock facing in black anyway, and on the neck itself it looks cool. The inlays look great, the fret work and binding is very decent, although any fretscale issues will only come out once it's been drilled and fitted and strung, let us pray. However, the truss rod seems to work, AND it is a perfect fit, hoobloodyrah! The profile is 38mm nut, and a very shallow neck, much like my 83 Jazz and the original Squier neck, it's perfect for me, my favourite neck profile. I'm very happy, and I think £75 + £7 postage is very good value.
Or if you want 'Fender like' as opposed to 'Fake Fender' you could try here. (see, I read the OP before resorting to sarcasm)
To quote 'bit' from Tron - YES! YES! YES! YES! Awesome mate, EXACTLY what I need, some searchers are better than others Thanks so much! -
There is this amazing thing called the internet. You can do what is called a "search" and it helps find what you;re looking for. I'm pretty computer savvy and have already figured out how to do it, so here you go -- just this once though. : )
Well thank you But they are not custom decals, I need my own text in a Fender style and I couldn't find anything. Cheers. -
I need to get a headstock decal, Fender type logo with custom wording, I've seen chaps on here with them, so where can I order one from? Thank you! Nx

Neck arrived today (can't wait to get home!) and Horrid has agreed to have a crack at the PG. All good so far

Anyone got either of these Squier's? What are they like?
I had a Silver Series Jazz and it was very good indeed, gigged it loads, then sold it to vmaxblues. £150 is a good price I'd say.
I concur. I had one too, superb bass. -
Mel Collins!
Riiiight!
Jakko has been on the Crimson periphery for a while - he fronted a couple of incarnations of 21st Century Schizoid Band, and also did A Scarcity Of Miracles with Fripp and Mel C last year (which also featured TLev and Gav I think)
Ah, thank you! Mel C?!
Thanks RockfordStone....haha, next question....any string recommendations? Like my Elixirs but they are getting more expensive.
Cleartone EMPs, I much prefer them to the Elixirs and they feel and sound fantastic. They keep their brightness for a long time and don't feel coated at all. I've tried loads and the Cleartones are the best for me, comparatively cheap too. I don't play knacked strings so I don't change them before recording, I change them when I feel they've lost their bounce and tone. I like them to settle in before recording or playing live, a few days on the bass and a few hours of playing.

Awesome! Jakko's in, haven't heard a pipsqueak about him for over 20 years.

Yeah, some top music yet again, it was very hard to choose. It's a great photo, so many ways to interpret it, but I suppose I expected a proliferation of phrygian mode I really wanted to do mine, but no time. It was going to be an angry comical punky number called 'Who Turned The Fakkin Telly Off?!' There were four here that really got to me, I went with the one that made me feel the most emotional in relation to the subject matter. Great work guys! Mucho Props.

Thanks gents, yeah I was totally amazed that I won it! Wonderfully kind of Throwoff to sort this out with Fender UK. I have that delicious time of waiting for stuff to arrive in the post now

Totally awesome mate! Fantastic work so far!
