2.
Imitating Blackmore basically.
Imitating medaeival stringed instruments actually from she he worked in a music shop. But no doubt Blackmore too.
 3.
Yep, you cant dis McFly
Umm, this is Basschat, you will be told they are fake untalented useless ***** very shortly.
 4. It's a great shot and you look ace!
 5. He's amazing. I adore what he does but in fairly small doses these days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOeThyZt1vg
 6. No worries man, cheers. When I say 'blatant' I don't mean 'deliberate'.
 7.
I keep on seeing Fender bodies up for sale on ebay etc that are refinished. Mostly these are (allegedly) vintage bodies. Once they are refinished (with loving care of course), are they really worth any more than a new body? The wood could be the same age etc. So, does a 50 year old wooden body sound any different to a new wooden body that has been built of the same material and to the same spec? Can a player honestly tell the quality under its new coat? I honestly don't know? I can mostly go along with the neck, hardware and the electrics etc having real value in that respect but for some reason, the paintwork has some sort of greater value to me? For me the paintwork is part of the basses personality and so part and parcel of its life. Why repaint it to sell? Would you refinish your vintage Fender to sell? If you were a buyer would you want a pristine vintage thats been refinished? I would definitely want the real deal warts and all...
The value of the story is in the reader.
 8.
You've played the Faridas too? Not many people have it seems, I prefer mine to the excellent Squire CV it replaced and it's easily on a par with the US Fender standards I've played, to the point I doubt anyone could tell the difference in a blindfold test.
Sorry mate I meant the Squiers. Not tried a Farida but I hear very good things.
 9. Where are you based? Where do you rehearse? Do you have bookings? is it a paid gig? What's the rehearsal/gigging schedule approximately? Is it a covers/function band? How good at lead vocals is needed? What do you really mean by 'serious pro'? What do you mean by 'someone who is patriotic'? Because that rings some alarm bells for me personally.
 10.
I absolutely agree and I see no reason to spend on a Fender just for the logo. I have a Farida Jazz bass made in the same factory as the Squier CVs and it is first class at any price, easily as good as a new Fender standard imao. The only downside of these great Chinese basses is that they are new - I prefer the feel of a vintage bass.
I wouldn't say they are near a match for the USA Standard, but they are for the few Mex Standards I've tried. Although the new USA Standards I tried recently were not as nice at the ones I tried a few years ago.
 11. I played one of those Jazzes a couple of years ago, I was very impressed, as I am with the Squier VM Active Jag I won - although it's a single pup MM style, not a Jazz. Very lightweight bass, and the neck was very good even though I swapped it for another, and I changed the hardware for Hipshot. I agree the 3-band active is not as good at a J-Retro, but a J-Retro costs almost as much as the whole bass. I played the Squier Jag live for the first time with London Zulu last week, and it rocked! I had some great compliments afterwards. I left the active eq flat except for the odd bass boost for a couple of numbers. These CV and VM Squiers are really amazing value for money. They are very well built and play really nicely.
 12. Sorry chaps, but you are also doing the same to me!
 13.
Do you mean on Youtube, if so I suspect that is due to the dubious decision by Google to force Google+ accounts on Youtube commentators from now on?
No, I meant on here mate.

 15.
Thanks! I'd hate to be easy listening!
16.
A cello..? (...although it sounds good to me. I like archtops... )
Yep, and even possibly with a fairly radical compound radius fingerboard that feels more bass-like nearer the nut and more cello-like nearer the bridge so one could play arco. Maybe 11 at the nut and 5 at the bridge. The bridge would need to be specifically designed for this bass and probably a wooden floating type.
 17.
[sub]600+ nice one guys. If we do win this, any ideas on a acoustic bass build?[/sub]
I reckon an electro-acoustic with a deep-bodied arch top & bottom, with a funky but effective F-hole design, single-cut (but a pretty one, not one of them ugly sperm whale fings), four string fretless ebony board, with a telescopic spike attachment for upright style playing as well as electric bass style.
 18. Superb in every way! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/223852-intraverse-tipple-your-fancy-my-bands-new-videosingle/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChDDSuT4ils
 19. I like the song, well arranged and performed. I like the fact you have a dual vocal, it sets you apart. Good stuff.
 20. It sounds great! But I found myself wanting more development than just a dynamic arrangement of two chords. Great vibe though!
 21. Great band, Mike!
 22. Lovely stuff Bub! Love the drummer too!
 23.
I think that it's polite; an etiquette within the musicians' community. If I can, I'll stay and watch the other bands. However, I'm not so polite that I won't bugger off if I think they are crap :-D Similarly, I always make a point of catching any bands that are on before us.
Same here. We go out to eat and make sure we have time to get back and watch the opening band/s, and stay on to watch the bands after us. Transport may dictate we leave before they finish but we make the effort. If you are sharing a bill with fellow musicians I think it's only polite to check them out.
