Totally stoked!

    That's fantastic! Congratulations!
  3.
Thanks for the feedback guys, I agree with you, we're trying not to dive too deep into reggae and ska. Could a mastering bring out more oomf?
Possibly, but a remix might be more appropriate. I think the presense of the bass and drums could be more immersive, more up front, maybe a little compression in the mastering of the mix. It's hard to say as only you guys really know what you want to sound like. I think I can crystallise my thoughts a little more now, it sounds like you were all trying to get good takes and concentrating hard, rather than being more in the musical moment and really feeling the flow of the music.
  4. I can't pretend it's fully my bag but it's very very good, I like the production, excellent musicianship. It reminds me of Mastodon in a number of ways. May I ask what you think distinguishes you from other similar bands in such a saturated market? If that's important to you that is.
  5. Good songs, well performed, very good singer with some personality in his voice. There's a little something missing for me but it's hard to put my finger on, I think it's the mix - it's lacking punch and attitude, it could be that it's an honest recording reflecting what you sound like live. But there's some excitement missing, I'm not getting drawn in. Otherwise both songs are very good, your playing is fine, it's just a bit polite to my ears, but that just might be me.
  6.
There is a rather simple solution for that, you can probably make it yourself. It is just a piece of stainless steel tube (3x4 millimeters) on which I flattened the ends, I also put a couple of spacer rings with a thickness of 3 millimeters between this tube and the pickup rings to get it on the height I wanted it to be from the body.
What a superb bit of engineering thought and execution. So elegant and simple. Nice one man!
  7. We are supporting the awesome American artist Emily Wells on her 17th December European tour date at The Lexington - 96-98 Pentonville Road, London N1 9JB https://www.facebook...n=join&source=1 Check her out! 8. My mate is on his 6th brand new MIM Fender twin in 6 months, and that's gone wrong now too.
  9.
Now that's interesting and something i didn't know. Thanks.
Yngwie did pretty much the same thing as Ritchie. But what didn't he do that wasn't the same as Ritchie?
  10.
It's the highlight of the show when we share the bill with a band named Mr Bridger. Guitar abuse is an art form in the hand of their guitarist. Split a strat in two on the venue floor last time. The drummer patches them up between shows "Couple of clamps and some wood glue and it'll be fine".
Good band too, and he's looks funny chucking a guitar about, I found it amusing.
  11.
Some valid points there, This is a feeling that has bothered me since i was 16, and i'm now very old. Still think i've missed something along the way.
I would suggest the numbers of instruments wilfully destroyed each year is minuscule.
  12.
I wouldn't say it's an exageration, nor would i commit any violence of any sort. I was attempting to convey my feeling of 'blood boiling'. I can't understand the concept of the sensless waste of a musical instrument.
Why don't you relax a bit, go and have a glass of milk and a sandwich or summat. The world can be a horrible place, there are much more important issues to die young of stress about. Boiling live animals to death for dinner so certain Chinese people can get a better boner, female genital mutilation in Africa, child abuse in Daventry, why Tom Daley's sexuality still has the power to shock some people, why many American states are fascist theocracies. Will that do?
  13.
I guess i'm a little more 'romantic' for want of a better word. When a guitar is completed and turned on for the first time, it has life and becomes a living thing with a soul.
No. That's not romantic, it's just wrong.
  14. If that makes you physically ill and makes you want to physically assault people, you should go and see a psychiatrist. They may be able to help you with it, or cure you of your compulsive exaggeration disorder.
  15.
Come on..... there's no court case! I never lend my gear. End of! It does get used as the backline in a jam, but I regulate the volume and tone. I have got up and turned the volume down mid number before now. Some jammers just have their ears painted on! The other part of the OP that stands out to me.... I would never gig with just 1 210! That's not enough, and my rule of thumb is to have more watts in the speakers than I have in the amp.
Course there isn't. On the balance of probability, someone f***ed up, but who? No case at all, no evidence that would stand up in a court from what I can see.
  16.
Eude quoted my post and stated "+1000000". You implied it wasn't worth that... I was upset. Well, I wasn't really - just trying to make a bit of a joke... Oh, never mind. Back on topic!!
That is all true, but then he said he only meant to quote the bit where you said 'do tell us your thoughts and what you bought', and I thought that was not worth + million. Nothing is really is it
  17.
True, but sometimes the majority of the advice takes the form "you want one of these mate - I've got one and they're brilliant!" I think it also reads as the OP really wanting to buy a Fodera, but not sure he can justify it - so compares the Fodera to familiar reference points. Some of the advice, about trying other high-quality, high-value basses; is spot on though. We are subjective though, and it is natural to recommend the things that each of us like and use. Just not sure that kind of advice is very useful in this particular case.
Very true mate.
  18.
Thanks a lot!
Eh?
  19.
Depends on whether or not the OP ends up with a Fodera, and which model, some of them cost about that don't they? Eude
20.
Whoops, I only meant to quote this bit... Eude
Not really worth +1,000,000 though, is it
  21.
+1,000,000 Eude
Well you say that, but the guy was asking for advice, should he go for a Fodera or two Fenders? When someone asks a question like that it suggests they don't really know very much about basses, or about what they want from a bass. So he clearly needs advice.
  22. It sounds very nice indeed. What gauge strings is Pino using? They look very light.
  23. There's not enough info in the OP. What were the circumstances during their set? Did the cab give up during their set, was it noticeable? Did you only notice the problem when you started playing? What happened after the band left? Any witnesses? If so what did they see/hear that might help you? So far you have not stated any evidence.
  24.
I don't want or intend this thread to get into any kind of debate about whether a Fodera is value for money, etc. but I'd appreciate some opinions from people. My budget will enable me to purchase either: 1. A Fodera Monarch 4 Standard ...or... 2. A combination of these: Fender American Deluxe Precision Fender American Standard Jazz Fender American Standard Precision Music Man Stingray Music Man Sterling Suggestions? I've never bought a bass without playing it first and unfortunately I wouldn't be able to try the Fodera before actually buying it so it's a bit of a gamble if I went that route. That is my biggest concern with the Fodera - A LOT of cash on a bass I can't play before buying.
What do you want in a bass? Why do you feel it necessary to spend your budget? Why can't you decide if you want one of two entirely different kinds of basses? Why can't you try a whole load of basses over a month and pick the one that you love (if there is one)?
