1.
What time would you be on? I would be playing that night, we get wrapped up by about 10 ish.
Ah we'll be off by then mate. Have a top show!
2.
The sound cloud link is there too at the bottom
Sorry, of course you have. Completely missed it!
3. Mr Bungle are peerless. Mike Patton is a musical wonder.
4. Just mashed it on the hifi. Lady xilddx really likes it too.
5.
On a daily basis the pages of BC adduce to the idiotic things that are said when hobby musicians gather. * Let's try it in waltz time - that's 4/4 * Why show me that low string riff? The bass and the guitar are in different tunings * (Onstage) I love the blues. Black people have such a great sense of rhythm * Jimmy Plant wrote Stairway To Heaven, you prat * I'm a 'feel' player - that's why I only play in the key of A Why might women in bands be exempted from the cornucopia of total bollocks that passes for intra-musician dialogue? The young lady's list is evidence not of institutional sexism but of institutional stupidity.
6.
it made me laugh when i posted a vid from this young lady. the comments ranged from "oh you only like it because shes hot" to 'well if it was a guy playing it would seem average" total horse sh*t. i like her playing regardless of what she looks like, or what sex. im blind when it comes to music. im aware that its human nature to judge things from our eyes. Good thread Nige. my heroes in music are 50% women.
To be fair mate, this wasn't the one you posted that generated those comments, you posted the blonde woman with the blue and gold Stringray who was a bit of a stinker, she wasn't very good. This one is great, she plays fantastically well for a chick.
7.
I would love to have seen what people said about that ( can't read it because I'm banned from Off Topic. Some people can't handle The Truth ). How could there be a ruck about Tom Daley? Young man who is good at swimming says he's happy in a relationship with a man...and so what? Even I can't see what there is to fall out about on that subject! Do some folks not believe him ? He looked pretty sure to me.
You are banned from Off Topic?!! That is f***ing sad. I don't always agree with your angle on things but you are one of BC's valuables in OT. The 'ruck' was because a few people said they couldn't stand camp mincy gay blokes (all an act, false, annoying), and that Pride annoyed them (shoving their sexuality in people's faces). It got a little messy because they felt victimised by a few others (including me). Milty went off again aswell
8. Great sound, great quality, great fun! I've seen DV&TTs live, they are a sight and sound to behold, let me tell you One of the great BC bands.
9. It's very good man. I'm never keen on bass solos, but you clearly have command of the instrument and the finesse to carry it off. Would be nice to hear your own compositions.
10.
I'm not advocating drink and drug use by the way, ha ha. It's just serving as an example as to a band being true to itself. I'm not saying getting wrecked will help.
It won't But learning to relax and feel the music without stimulatory aids is the key. You need all your physical faculties to play properly, the more smoke and drink, the higher the latency
11. It still has that .ipb extension. Get a soundcloud account man! It's free. https://soundcloud.com
12. 'tis excellent! Love it. I love your original too.
13.
Will try sure i added an mp3 not sure what happened the.
It's the forum's daft way of adding .ipb to uploaded files. It's very annoying and needs sorting. If I were you I would get a soundcloud account and upload it.
14. I preferred the first video It's clever mate, and the sounds are good, but it's hard work for me to listen to. I will be doing soundscape stuff like this but it will be as part of a band, I can't imagine doing it solo. You're right, it's not my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean others won't like it. Keep at it.
15. Love it! Great vibes and it's so nice that your band does dub and metal in equal high quality. The singer has exactly the right voice for this, and the production is perfect. Nice vid too, you all look great. I grew up on rock and dub, and you've hit that nail bang on for me. Top f***ing notch!
16. Also, can't believe you've had so few views and no comments so far. You deserve much success.
17. This kinda music isn't really my bag, but it's pretty good. The songs are decent, although I think I'd want a bit more catchy chorus as it's blatantly commercial and I think you could make more of that. Not keen on the mix, it needs better balance and some polish. The drums seem too loud, and the vocals need sparkle. The performances are ok but it's lacking tightness and the grooves feel a bit forced here and there, they lack vibe for me. I've only heard the clips though, not the full songs. Please don't take the above as being too negative, I just think you need to work on it a bit more and get it polished. All the best.
18. Mate that's awesome! The song is ace. The performances are full of life and panache, and totally professional. The video is great fun and really shows what the band is all about. Your singer has a great voice and he looks fabulous. The production is spot on. You have a complete package and I reckon it's very marketable. I suppose it's just a matter of time and keeping the band motivated and happy until you gain popularity. If your body of work matches this qualities of this song, I think you'll go far. Absolutely brilliant!
19. What a truly stunning looking build, very jealous indeed! Amazing news on those pups!
20.
Yes, they should
Please do so! I would LOVE to see the examples given.
21.
Had someone better start an "Infuriating things people say to male musicians" thread, in the interest of balance?
Wot, sexist things?
22. http://www.huffingto...just_reloaded=1 Pretty lame really, they are just dumb comments more than anything else. The 'Burds of Basschat' must have better ones on this side of the watery expanse
23.
Me being happy with my playing isn't important. It's what the other musicians think of it that matters.
Are you serious Ian?
24. Depends dunnit. Sometimes I think I'm very happy and that I'm expressing my personality and musical tastes through the bass, other times I think I'm a useless ****. But generally I'm happy, while always knowing that if I was told to improvise in a jazz band I really would be a useless ****. The problem here is that while I have little desire to be able to stun people with some improvised beauty in a jazz band, I always feel it would be an amazing feeling to be able to do that and often feel I SHOULD, and probably COULD, be able to if I applied myself and wasn't such a lazy ****. But it's not really my voice so I try not to beat myself up about it too much. I can compose and delight myself, but I can't improvise very well over tricky modulations. I would like to be able to do that.
25.
That tune is amazeballs. I will be in London in the last week of Jan for shows in Hackney. I'm assuming i will be there for rehearsals for a couple of days before the shows. If so I'll have some evenings off. what I'm getting at is do you have any gigs at the end of Jan?
Would be lovely to meet you mate, but I have a feeling this one on the 31st Jan may be too late for you http://basschat.co.u...n1-31-jan-2014/
