1.
It was aimed at me. Cheers Nige.
No not really mate, although it somewhat prompted it as I was surprised at the implied il-feeling in what you said. I suppose I've become tired and a bit narked at the moaning over the past few years (even though I've done some myself in the past), and it's almost always the Marketplace that causes these frictions. I don't know how the owners and mods feel about doing all this work and still getting criticised. It made me feel sad last night. Sorry if I offended you, Wayne, it was nothing personal.
 2.
Actually it sounded very cinematic to me. Exactly the sort of thing a music supervisor would like for the "car chase through the kasbah" scene. I dabble with scoring films...I've done a handful of shorts and should be contributing to a feature next year...so I'm a bit jealous
Cool man! Thanks Good to hear you've got a commission for some scoring, are the shorts you did on YT or something? I'm interested in hearing them.
 3.
Blimey! I only started this thread because I was curious about being contacted (which I am extremely grateful for) by BC'ers regarding my wanted ads, even though the stats were saying no one has viewed my ads, it was not a moan, just an observation. I have already stated that my gripe is with the members who are abusing the system, not the people who do a great job in running the forum, and I fully understand why they have put a restriction on the "items wanted" section now that the reason for it has been explained. I'm fully aware that it's "not just a place to sell f***ing basses n sh*t", and I personally have only sold a couple of items over many years. I have also stated that I was happy to pay the annual fee of £20 to sell just one item a few weeks ago, I have no intention of selling anything else at the moment, so I don't think I fall into the category of taking what I can from the forum, without being prepared to contribute a little back. I agree with your opinions about the forum being "a real, tangible, important community", but you shouldn't assume that no one else thinks that way too, because I think that most of us do. BTW, until it was pointed out to me, I didn't even realise that we cannot reply in the "items wanted" section, but now through discussion, myself, and probably a few others as well, now understand and appreciate why certain things are done.
Sorry man, I wasn't aiming that at you
 4.
Thanks for all the responses guys. I still have time to cancel the outrageous medical appointment down in London. Just try to get in contact with the agency I'm with to sort out an alternative. When I'm looking back over the emails about the medicals it seems they have these "recommended" clinics where you can do the medical that are private and seem extortionate in price but I may be able to get one on the NHS so thats better news. I think it is a standard medical but it does seem very in depth, even testing for HIV etc.. But yeah should work out ok if I can get hold of the people and my agency and sort it out. The only thing that slightly worries me is when I told one of the guys about the £500 medical quote he said it wasn't that bad of a price quote! So I went ahead and booked, I'm just wondering if I can do it on the NHS why no one from that agency told me... Trying not to worry hah. Should be fine though, I still have time to cancel it..
It's an absurd amount of money for a medical. The risks involved and the insurance to cover them should not need a £500 medical. Perhaps they need to know you are not going to get ill, and therefore need a more comprehensive and expensive medical assessment. Maybe it's a great way for them to make some bucks through a partnership with a private healthcare company doing the assessments.
 5. Christ. Some people are never happy are they. Any titchy pathetic niggle about Basschat pales exponentially next to the information, support and affection members give each other, not just with music, with their personal lives too. I know a good few people on here who have received real help with their suffering and troubles from other members - I am one of them. The way this place is run is a paragon of excellence, you have the mods' and owners' balanced and fair judgement to thank for that. It's a real, tangible, important community, not just a place to sell f***ing basses n sh*t.
 6.
Really great track ...
Cheers Stevie Really enjoyed playing it live for the first time a couple of days ago.
 7. And since there has been some gender confusion in this thread, they are all women YES! EVEN THE SINGER!
 8. Cheers guys Fascinating to hear it sounds 'ravey'
 9.
What xillddx said
It just made me larf again
 10.
but guitar solo's (as a rule) aren't really solo's. the drummer and bassists carry on playing, when people talk about a bass (or drum) solo they mean just that instrument playing, a guitar playing on it's own for any length of time is just as tedious as bass or drums doing it
Tell that to the flamenco and classical guitarists.
 11. Yes it makes more sense really. I saw the skeleton thread last night and wondered what it was for. Are some of the other threads going to be merged into it?
 12.
Glad it went well Nige xx
Thanks darlin
 13.
That was Ian (icastle), Nige - I'm still waiting for my mod rights to this forum
Ah right. I hope the board approves your application
 14.
Jimmy Page was making a very successful career as one of the in-demand session players before joining the Yardbirds.
I was going to say that too
 15.
Really liking All Heart No Brains Good song, nice production, sounds great Video looks good too Hope it goes well for you
Thank you!
 16.
Brilliant, Nige - thanks. Could you please add your BC name in brackets to the thread title, so that it looks like the other ones in this forum? As soon as I am given mod rights on this forum too, I'll unpin all the threads and do admin properly
Ooh, I see that has already been done. Cheers Silv.
 17.
I think standard of musicianship comes into that as well. I believe you are a good enough musician to really contribute to someone else's vision. Me...not so much I'm at my best being "me" and hoping that chemistry and luck create something special. I've never written a good song in my life but I have written some awesome riffs, middle eights and the odd hook
Thanks Paul, that's kind. I know what you mean though.
 18.
What an awesome thread. Faith in basschat is partially restored I have always struggled when joining an originals band that already has material written. As TimR says, it is pretty just like playing covers of songs you haven't heard before! I still like the idea of playing original music but for me the real joy was always writing songs as a band with my best mates. So maybe the answer is to get the right musicians together first and then work on new material?
For me it's the opposite, I love helping someone realise their vision. Obviously I have to love their vision and how they execute it. Contrarily, I want to write an album and put a band together to play it, but I don't want to be in the band. I want to be in the audience.
 19.
Playing a guitar solo generally results in girls running *towards* you.
Excellent!
 20.
Doesn't bother me too much. You can all say what you want, at least me and my old man share an interest and get on really well, that means me to me than all the bass guitars on the planet.
There you go! It's a really heartwarming pic
 21. From our launch party for the new single All Heart No Brains on Cool For Cats Records. It was at a lovely little venue called Servant Jazz Quarters in Dalston on 12th Nov 2013. Couple of reviews of the single "If you were looking for a new Kate Bush, we might just have found one… I think along with Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush really is the other holy grail of female vocalists isn't it? And frankly Kit Richardson is the closest to it in my mind recently." Gill Mills, Amazing Radio London based pianist and elfin-voiced Kit Richardson has a new single out today that is guaranteed to charm and delight. A shimmering galaxy of glockenspiel goodness, ‘All Heart No Brains’ sings of teenage naivety and loss of innocence and has critics purring and listeners swooning. Kit is a multi-instrumentalist whose influences are Peter Gabriel and Neil Finn, and even though it is incredibly obvious to point out, notes of Kate Bush shine through in the enchanting voice of this interesting new act. We’re dying to hear more of this super sweet pop from Kit as she’s just what we need. Catch the single launch at Servant Jazz Quarter, London on 12th November. ‘All Heart No Brains’ is available to download for free today from Cool For Cats Records.
