1.
The volume difference between 450W and 600W is at the margins of audibility in a real world situation.
Oh no I agree and depending on the amp they can sound much louder even if they have less wattage. It more the headroom Id want on a solid state micro, thats all.
2.
How many more watts are you after? You could also link 2 heads if you wanted to. Cheers, Steve
I think the amps are very well made, and provide a lot of options. The only thing is, for the price, (and I realise it has a lot built into it) 450Watts for micro head now is near the lower end. The Little Mark 3 might be much simpler but it puts out a healthy wattage, and is rated at 500W. Shuttle 6.0 is sorta 600W..... Shuttle 9.0 is 900W.... Dont get me wrong, Id like a TC Amp, Id just like one thats say 600-700W.
3.
Thing is you're looking at half the power for not much less money if you go the Orange route, less control too. Having said that, don't Laney do a 400watt all valve bass head for around the same money, if not a bit less?
The Orange is basically plug in and enjoy...it sounds good with no tweaking...much like my LM3 actually. Im all for simplicity, if it sounds bad, tweaking wont help that much. The 200W valve power is very loud and musical. I believe Matamp/Orange do the 200W heads to get the sweet spot at lower volumes. Just my 2p
4.
my offer still stands if your feeling adventurous
Thanks dude, but im hoping to replace this with another USA P. So cash is best for me.
5. At this price itd be Matamp/Orange....no doubt about it.
6. Well, after people mentioned it before, its actually true, the Shuttle 3.0/6.0 was given less low end compared to the Shuttle 9.0 because they were made especially for smaller cabinets, hence they didnt want to have people damaging speakers. That would clear up the whole issue about ithe 6.0 lacking the ummmphhh the other micro heads have. Shuttle 9.0 seems absolutely fantastic: http://genzbenz.com/?fa=shuttle9 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqancBS121M
7. If they make a higher wattage version i'd be interested. The TC I tested was excellent, very well built. I just want a few extra watts.
8. Im biased....match it with some Orange AD200b Mk3 + Aguilar cabs, or Orange cabs. Fat and bloody loud. Oh, and dirty as hell.
9. Well guys, I’ve taken the plunge! Just ordered a new Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn 5, in 3 Tone Sunburst with a rosewood board. It comes with the Aged White plate, and I’ve also ordered a spare Tort plate to make the rosewood look even nicer. After many emails, and some excellent customer service, Dan @ Lakland has reserved me their lowest weight JO5 in that spec. I have to say, their responses are so quick, and they answer anything! I’ve gone through the Bass Merchant once again, and Darren has been extremely patient and helpful with my masses of emails! Also, to top it off, I have a new Aguilar Tone Hammer coming through the post. The pre-amp, brilliant dirt and fantastic DI will give me everything I need, and will add that little ‘ummmph’ to my passive basses if they need it. GAS for basses? Not anymore, apart from possibly selling my MIJ P Bass and getting another USA P 08/09 in Olympic white/tort guard/rosewood board. I am still after the Shuttle 9.0…definitely. Then Im done!
10.
Guitarsist don't liek technical stuff. Put a bunch of Celestion Vintage 30s in a stiff box and throw it down some hills. Drag it behind a van some, and waear the speakers in. They'll love it. The only specification I've ever seen a guitarist impressed by is watts, and totally without context, on not necessarily high watts, if they are aiming for some sort of break up. Also, you don't have a market is Stevie-Ray Vaugh didn't use it at some point in his career. Adit: bear in mind good dispersion is not necessarily counted as a good thing, I know I don't want to hear nothing but guitar and will wander out of the way of the stack, and sometimes the guitard will want to stop feeding back and be able to move his guitar out of the way also.
+1 I agree The guitar market it TOTALLY different. Most guitarists I know use Fender Combos or big Marshall/Orange/Matamp 4x12. Maybe it would actually work, but its hard to change a guitarists mind! Stubborn creatures. Also, as my friends who play guitar get older, they prefer much lower wattage...finding the sweet spot is what its all about.
11. I'd be annoyed, simple as that, and complain. When Fender were going through a rough patch, I ordered a natural USA Jazz. Hated it...heavy, lots of blemishes, didnt sound bright and jazzy....it sounded weak. FFWD to now, my 09 is perfect. Exactly what I expected. Id get a refund or exhange.
12. So....Im thinking JO5...now the rosewood/maple debate! I personally think the maple looks a tiny bit better....ive no idea if it has any massive effect on the tone with a low B etc. Pics: http://www.doctorbass.net/imagftp/Lakland-JO5-3TSRW.jpg http://www.doctorbass.net/imagftp/Lakland-JO5-3TSMaple.jpg
13. Had a few offers....but they wont have the cash for a month or so... I cant hold it unless someone definitely wants it...I want the cash for the USA White P in the sale thread. Cheers Gareth
14. Awesome bass.....hmm...if my MIJ goes soon ill be able to negotiate
15.
Price???
+1
16. I am a traditional 4 string player...but I wanted that ability to go lower without the downtuning and messing about. Also, it adds more options for where you play your bass lines. I searched for a fair while...the easiest 5 string to play for me is the Lakland 5 string neck...feels so 'right' straight away. I am ordering one in a few days. Stick with it...they are very useful and it will be good to be able to play both
17. The Abbey Road version is a lovely P Bass with flats...and sounds amazing.
18.
Actually I was thinking the same sort of thing - We ought to meet up, being as we are neighbours, MM20.
Good idea. Maybe a NE Lincs/Lincs/Yorkshire/Humberside Bass Bash?!
19. Same size as Shuttle 6.0 apparently...so fits into the Gig Skinz bag I have already have.
20.
DJ5DJ5D5JDJ5DJ5DJ5DJ5DJ5DJ5DJ5DJ5DJ5DJ5DJ5DJ5 ;-) The body is slightly different to a regular Jazz though. Personally i love the feel of it. And i hate Sunbrust but thats just me. I do think if you are going for a more autentic, vintage type this the JO5 would be a better bet though.
HAHHAH... Im an old boring Fender addict (well im 28). Sunburst is one of those love or hates. Whichever I get it will be in London in January so we can have a BASS OFF.....whatever that is.
21. IMO...the black is awesome....good idea. I did have a PM with Mr Genz on Tbass...and he mentioned this amp. TBH..its so small and powerful. I nearly went for a Max12.0....but there seems little point now. Ill wait and save.
22. http://www.theperfectbass.com/explore.cfm?...p;SS=1&CR=Y 900 bloody watts! 500 at 8ohms! Get in. Im saving as I type.
