1. Once you play a Ray, it starts to pull you towards THAT tone But yeah, a P bass is boss.
2. Fender had something on their site a year or so back that mentioned the best storage is in its proper hardcase, then having the hardcase upright, so the bass is stood up like it would be on a stand. This saves room and apparently it is easier on the neck. No idea if that is true but that is how all of mine are stored.
3. Always miss Musicman basses...so now I barely ever stray.
4. If you were closer I'd be interested in trying it out...but I'm reet up north!
5.
This is my second stingray and my previous one didn't have this "issue" I understand that the pickup plays a big part in that "stingray" sound. I just like my top end to cut through a bit more than it is currently. With you having lots of Rays Musicman20 how dramatic would the change likely be? Would it be massively different or would it be subtle?
I've heard some pup changes in Ray's that make them sound quite different - some get close, but part of the attraction to Musicman basses, for me anyway, is that the pup, pre, etc, are already the best for the bass. That's all IMO though. Try what Pete has mentioned, and good luck!
6. I'll keep my eye out, good luck!
7. Its just the nature of the beast. I haven't experienced it before and I've had a lot of Rays. Changing the pups will change the character of the sound, which is the main reason Ray's are popular. Make sure you keep the original!
8.
found this on the net about the footswith A TC Electronic ‘Switch 3’ footswitch can be added for even more control. TonePrint effects can be punched in and out and the amp can be muted. Furthermore, even though the TonePrint knob controls one effect at a time, the previously loaded effect is stored in the internal circuit and with the third switch this effect can be punched in and out as well, which in reality gives BH250 a dual effect section capable of combining any 2 of the 6 effect types available.
Class!
9.
The really lucky ones have both...
Haha
10.
I think Sandberg, altho I guess less inconic than Wicks right now, has to be chucked in here. I've owned a Warwick, German made, and right now am on my second Sandberg. The Bergs are sensational instruments - and a whole lot better looking than Warwicks
I want one of the new PJ style California VT basses. Awesome!
11. I'm on 17.5 mm at the mo anyway, so close ish.
12.
well with all your problems with bad basses being sent back, never heard much bad from warwick on that respect
True! In fact most German products are normally very well engineered and finished.
13. I'm hoping the official Warwick guy will come along and say: 'Gareth, to you, £1500 for a BO5 German made'
14. It does sound fantastic doesn't it! Perfect for back pickup digging in which personally I love!!!
15. It's never up North! Nice bass. I give it ten mins.
16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7spc7CHbT_Q Back pup...love it. Its partly his technique but I like this bass. I bet they are nigh on £3K now.
17. I wanted this last time but alas I live nowhere near you.
18.
Well I finally got hold of my new cab! A prototype EAD Foundation 112. I've not managed to try it out loud yet, but the neighbours are away this week I have tried these cabs out before though and I haven't heard anything better It's a 3 way design, with a 12", 6" and tweeter, all controlled by a custom designed, hand built crossover. It's an easy 1 hand lift and the fit and finish is incredible, especially considering it's a hand made cab, when the design finally makes full production it will be the best 3 way cab available on the earth, I honestly believe that! More to come over the next few days Eude
The fit and finish on that cab, even in the photos, looks like Berg quality.
19.
I have mine on order, should be with me early November: California VT (that's a PJ pickup configuration to you and me) Fretted 5 string Rosewood board with dots Three tone sunburst with tortoisehell scratchplate Hardcore aged (to match my 70 fretless P) 34" scale Can't wait! Cheers Gareth
Weirdly enough I just noticed the P/J! Probably the best value highest spec PJ available in Europe!
20. The Genz amps have the quietest fans out of all the amps I've owned. The loudest fan was a big old Trace 400GP12SMX. In fact, the Streamliner is probably the quietest amp ive heard with a fan.
21. I think the new Tecamp Puma 900 uses the chassis to disburse of excess heat. No fan! Cool idea.
22.
shop in edinburgh, type Livemusicrocks edinburgh into google and you'll find a secondhand one- good condition too.
Thanks!
23. The UK distributor priced me up a new SB 5 string and it ended up being as expensive as a USA Fender Deluxe. In the USA the gear is excellent value.
